Abstract:Meta-analytic findings support the efficacy of e-counseling (education and guided support) to reduce blood pressure (BP) among subjects at elevated cardiovascular risk. However, there is significant heterogeneity among available clinical trials. Our research has advocated a standardized protocol of preventive e-counseling with a user-centered approach that tailors intervention techniques and goals to the subject's priorities for change. Accordingly, we evaluated self-reported motivation to change exercise and diet among health information seekers who were recruited from the e-platform of the HSFC. Our aim was to assess whether motivation was associated with clinical features of BP, overt behavior for exercise and diet, and psychological distress.
