Abstract:In this short note we obtain some gradient estimates for the positive solution to the doubly nonlinear diffusion equation on closed Riemannian manifold with Ricci curvature bounded below by a non-positive constant. As applications, we also derive corresponding Harnack inequalities.

Abstract:Let ( M n , g ) be an n -dimensional complete Riemannian manifold. We consider gradient estimates for the positive solutions to the following nonlinear parabolic equation: u_t=Δ u+aulog u+bu on M n × [0, T ], where a , b are two real constants. We derive local gradient estimates of the Li-Yau type for positive solutions of the above equations on Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below. As applications, several parabolic Harnack inequalities are obtained. In particular, our results extend the ones of Davies in Heat Kernels and Spectral Theory, Cambridge Tracts in Mathematics, vol 92, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge,1989, and Li and Xu in Adv Math 226:4456–4491 ( 2011 ).

Abstract:In this paper, by maximum principle and cutoff function, we investigate gradient estimates for positive solutions to two nonlinear parabolic equations under Ricci flow. The related Harnack inequalities are deduced. An result about positive solutions on closed manifolds under Ricci flow is abtained. As applications, gradient estimates and Harnack inequalities for positive solutions to the heat equation under Ricci flow are derived. These results in the paper can be regard as generalizing the gradient estimates of Li-Yau, J. Y. Li, Hamilton and Li-Xu to the Ricci flow. Our results also improve the estimates of S. P. Liu and J. Sun to the nonlinear parabolic equation under Ricci flow.

Abstract:In this paper we study gradient estimates for the positive solutions of the porous medium equation: \documentclass[12pt]{minimal}\usepackage{amsmath}\usepackage{wasysym}\usepackage{amsfonts}\usepackage{amssymb}\usepackage{amsbsy}\usepackage{mathrsfs}\usepackage{upgreek}\setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt}\begin{document}$$u_t=\Delta u^m$$\end{document} where m>1, which is a nonlinear version of the heat equation. We derive local gradient estimates of the Li–Yau type for positive solutions of porous medium equations on Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below. As applications, several parabolic Harnack inequalities are obtained. In particular, our results improve the ones of Lu, Ni, Vázquez, and Villani (in J. Math. Pures Appl. 91:1–19, 2009). Moreover, our results recover the ones of Davies (in Cambridge Tracts Math vol. 92, 1989), Hamilton (in Comm. Anal. Geom. 1:113–125, 1993) and Li and Xu (in Adv. Math. 226:4456–4491, 2011).

Abstract:In this paper, we derive local and global Li-Yau type gradient estimates for the positive solutions of the CR heat equation on complete noncompact pseudo-Hermitian manifolds. As applications of the gradient estimates, we give a Harnack inequality for the positive solutions of the CR heat equation, and then obtain an upper bound estimate for the corresponding heat kernel.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a Li-Yau gradient estimate on the positive solution to the following nonlinear parabolic equation \begin{document}$ \frac{\partial}{\partial t}f = \Delta f+af(\ln f)^{p} $\end{document} with Neumann boundary conditions on a compact Riemannian manifold satisfying the integral Ricci curvature assumption, where $ p\geq 0 $ is a real constant. This contrasts Olivé's gradient estimate, which works mainly for the heat equation rather than nonlinear parabolic equations and the result can be regarded as a generalization of the Li-Yau [P. Li, S. T. Yau, On the parabolic kernel of the Schrödinger operator, Acta Math., 156 (1986), 153–201] and Olivé [X. R. Olivé, Neumann Li-Yau gradient estimate under integral Ricci curvature bounds, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 147 (2019), 411–426] gradient estimates.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the gradient estimates on positive solutions to the following elliptic (Lichnerowicz) equation defined on a complete Riemannian manifold $(M,\,g)$: $$\Delta v + \mu v + a v^{p+1} +b v^{-q+1} =0,$$ where $p\geq-1$, $q\geq1$, $\mu$, $a$ and $b$ are real constants. In the case $\mu\geq0$ and $b\geq0$ or $\mu<0$ , $a>0$ and $b>0$ ($\mu$ has a lower bound), we employ the Nash-Moser iteration technique to obtain some refined gradient estimates of the solutions to the above equation, if $(M,\,g)$ satisfies $Ric \geq -(n-1)\kappa$ , where $n\geq3$ is the dimension of $M$ and $\kappa$ is a nonnegative constant, and $\mu$ , $a$ , $b$ , $p$ and $q$ satisfy some technique conditions. By the obtained gradient estimates we also derive some Liouville type theorems for the above equation under some suitable geometric and analysis conditions. As applications, we can derive some Cheng-Yau's type gradient estimates for solutions to the $n$-dimensional Einstein-scalar field Lichnerowicz equation where $n\geq3$.

Abstract:In this paper we prove some Hamilton type and Li-Yau type gradient estimates on positive solutions to generalized nonlinear parabolic equations on smooth metric measure space with compact boundary. The geometry of the space in terms of lower bounds on the weighted Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature tensor and weighted mean curvature of the boundary are key in proving generalized local and global gradient estimates. Various applications of these gradient estimates in terms of parabolic Harnack inequalities and Liouville type results are discussed. Further consequences to some specific models informed by the nature of the nonlinearities are highlighted.

Abstract:In this paper, we study gradient estimates for positive weak solutions to the following $p$-Laplacian equation $$\Delta_pu+au^{\sigma}=0$$ on a Riemannian manifold, where $p>1$ and $a,\sigma$ are two nonzero real constants. By virtue of the Morser iteration technique, we derive some gradient estimates, which show that when the Ricci curvature is nonnegative, the above equation does not admit positive weak solutions under some scopes of $p$.

Abstract:We consider gradient estimates to positive solutions of porous medium equations and fast diffusion equations: $$u_t=\Delta_\phi(u^p)$$ associated with the Witten Laplacian on Riemannian manifolds. Under the assumption that the $m$-dimensional Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature is bounded from below, we obtain gradient estimates which generalize the results in [20] and [13]. Moreover, inspired by X. -D. Li's work in [19] we also study the entropy formulae introduced in [20] for porous medium equations and fast diffusion equations associated with the Witten Laplacian. We prove monotonicity theorems for such entropy formulae on compact Riemannian manifolds with non-negative $m$-dimensional Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature

Abstract:We establish a point-wise gradient estimate for $all$ positive solutions of the conjugate heat equation. This contrasts to Perelman's point-wise gradient estimate which works mainly for the fundamental solution rather than all solutions. Like Perelman's estimate, the most general form of our gradient estimate does not require any curvature assumption. Moreover, assuming only lower bound on the Ricci curvature, we also prove a localized gradient estimate similar to the Li-Yau estimate for the linear Schrödinger heat equation. The main difference with the linear case is that no assumptions on the derivatives of the potential (scalar curvature) are needed. A generalization of Perelman's W-entropy is defined in both the Ricci flow and fixed metric case. We also find a new family of heat kernel estimates.

Abstract:In this work we establish a gradient bound and Liouville-type theorems for solutions to Quasi-linear elliptic equations on compact Riemannian Manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Also, we provide a local splitting theorem when the inequality in the gradient bound becomes equality at some point. Moreover, we prove a Harnack-type inequality and an ABP estimate for the gradient of solutions in domains contained in the manifold.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the Laplacian G_2 flow on a closed seven-dimensional manifold M with a closed G_2-structure. We first obtain the gradient estimates of positive solutions of the heat equation under the Laplacian G_2 flow and then we get the Harnack inequality on spacetime. As an application, we prove the monotonicity for positive solutions of the heat equation with bounded Ricci curvature, and get the integral-type Harnack inequality. Besides, we prove the monotonicity of parabolic frequency for positive solutions of the linear heat equation with bounded Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature, and then obtain the backward uniqueness.
