Abstract:Malicious tampering of digital image content may lead to serious consequences. As image resolution increases and its circulations on the network grows rapidly, images undergo double compression in the following environment: compression (JPEG/JPEG2000) for first release, decoding, application processing (conventional signal processing/security attacks/malicious content tampering), and compression (JPEG2000/JPEG) for rerelease before detection. Effectively determining whether the image content has been tampered and to locate the tampering position in a double-compression environment is an urgent problem. In this paper, a novel watermark expression method based on rotating vector and its modulation algorithm is proposed. Based on this method, a semi-fragile watermarking scheme is established for the image content authentication. The stability of watermarked data is analyzed theoretically, providing the watermark scheme with a theoretical basis. The authentication schemes with feature extraction and reconstruction, watermark embedding and extraction, and tamper detection and localization are mainly elaborated. The robustness of watermark, its security, and related detection performance are analyzed. Theoretical analysis and experiments show that the scheme features a good watermark transparency, good robustness, and stable distribution for different attacks and can effectively distinguish malicious tampering from content-preserving operators and locate tampering area under double-compression environment. In addition, the proposed scheme can resist watermark attacks, collage attacks, and forge attacks. Compared with related schemes, the proposed scheme has superior comprehensive performance and is suitable for content authentication in double-compression environment, which expands the application scope of watermark-based content authentication.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel robust grayscale watermarking algorithm based on Two-Levels DCT and SVD is proposed. The watermark signal is (32× 32 × 8) bit gray image. First, the original image is divided into blocks according to the size of the watermark; each block corresponds to each pixel value of watermark. Second, the DCT is applied in each block twice and form new blocks. Then, Get the largest value of each new block to form a new matrix .Apply SVD on the new matrix to get matrices U, S and V for each block. The pixel value of watermark is embedded into the S matrix of the new matrix. And the watermark can be detected with the original image. The experimental results show that the algorithm can satisfy the transparence and robustness of the watermarking system very well. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the proposed scheme is able to withstand a variety of attacks very well.

Abstract:In this paper, a simple and effective attack on a non-blind robust digital watermark method, cocktail watermarking, was proposed. After reviewing the principle of the cocktail watermarking, the paper discovered that the cocktail watermarking scheme can drive a very high false positive probability although with high robustness simultaneously. Furthermore, a counterfeiting attack to generate a watermarked image with an original image was proposed, which can pass through the watermark extraction and watermark authentication successfully in the case of none watermark embedded. This attack scheme demonstrates that the watermarking algorithm is flawed which can be used by the malicious content owner to forge and distribute a watermarked image to the unknown users. At last, simulations of the counterfeiting attack on cocktail watermarking are devised and the results show that this attack is successful with a reasonable image quality.

Abstract:We propose a new scheme of computer-generated hologram (CGH) watermarking to resist rotation and scaling. To embed the inverse log-polar mapping of a mark pattern's CGH into a cover image, the twin image of the mark pattern can be directly reconstructed by fast Fourier transformation from the log-polar mapping of the watermarked image after rotation and scaling, not requiring a registration step in the extracting procedure. In an experiment, the information position of the twin image is located in the high-frequency domain and the redundant information of the low-frequency component is properly eliminated, so the contrast of the twin image is appropriately enhanced and the basic information of the mark pattern is effectively preserved to be recognized. The experimental results show that the mark-pattern's information can be effectively reconstructed when the watermarked image is scaled by 0.5 to 2 or rotated by any angle, so this watermarking scheme is effectively verified by experiment.

Abstract:A DCT-domain watermarking algorithm with 8 bits gray image's watermark is proposed. First, the method of block classification based on HVS is improved, which enhances the information hiding ability of cover image. In the watermark embedding process, we transform the image's watermark into DCT domain, and embed the low-frequency coefficients to the blocks that have bigger elongation factor. At the same time, we adjust the DCT coefficients of image's watermark to make them in the same level. This increases the SNR of extracted watermark. The experimental results show that the mentioned algorithm is more robust to many attacks, especially to JPEG compression, rotation and cropping.

Abstract:In this paper, a feature-based algorithm is proposed, which embedded a binary image as watermark in DCT domain by taking into account the feature of gradient and intensity of each block. Especially marker bits are embedded to locate the original block of cropped or row or column removed image. The proposed technique can actually resist several kinds of image processing such as image cropping, shifting, blurring, noise, sharpening and JPEG loss compression etc. The algorithm doesn't need the original image during watermark extraction phrase and the simulation results show the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Abstract:We propose a watermarking scheme for hardcopy pictures based on computer-generated holography. A hologram of the watermark is produced using a conjugate-symmetric extension technique, and its spectrum is inserted into the discrete cosine transform domain of the image. Adjusting the watermark placement in a data array, a trade-off between transparency and robustness is achieved. Anticropping and the interference-resisting capability of holograms make the watermark robust against manipulations commonly performed on digital images during postprocessing, including contrast enhancement, moderate smoothing and sharpening, and, in particular, geometric transformation. Most importantly, the proposed hologram-based watermarking can withstand the printing-scanning attack and, therefore, is useful in protecting copyright of digital photographs both as electronic and hardcopy versions. Abstract:Many proposed digital image watermarking techniques are sensitive to geometric attacks, such as rotation, scaling, translation, or their composites. Geometric distortions, even by slight amounts, can inevitably damage the watermark and/or disable the capability of the watermark detector to reliably perform its function. In this chapter, the authors exploit the invariant image features to design geometric distortions-invariant watermarking system, and present two watermarking techniques. First technique utilizes the bounding box scale-invariant feature transform and discrete orthogonal Hahn moments to embed the watermark into the selective image patches, and the second technique uses only the Hahn moments to globally embed watermark into the whole image. First technique is non-blind and uses the original image during detection. While exhibiting excellent resistance against different geometric distortions, this technique also has fairly good resistance to image cropping like attacks. However, this technique exhibits a reduced data payload. The second technique is designed to be blind and the watermark is blindly extracted using the independent component analysis. For this technique an improved data payload is achieved but with a little compromise on resistance against cropping like attacks. The implementations are supported with thorough discussions and the experimental results prove and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes against several kinds of geometric attacks.

Abstract:In this paper, a double domain based robust digital image watermarking scheme is proposed. Up to now, the existing robust watermarking algorithms can only resist a part of geometrical attacks and some common image processing attacks, while the proposed method can resist almost all geometrical attacks and a lot of common image processing attacks. Firstly, the watermark is embedded in the 3-level DWT coefficients by the parity modulation method, and then the same watermark is embedded in the pixel domain by the similar method. At the detector side, the watermark is extracted twice, one is in the DWT domain, the other is in the pixel domain. Select the watermark which has better visual quality as the final result. By carefully regulating the parameters and selecting the embedding sequence, the watermarks in the two domains are compatible with each other. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Abstract:With the rise of short video and the development of self-media, video has become a type of frequently used data, thus the protection of video data is particularly important. Digital watermarking is a very effective digital authentication and copyright protection technology that hides a piece of data called watermark into digital multimedia content. However, most existing video watermark algorithms fail to deal with the videos under geometric distortions, and they only focus on copyright protection, ignoring the task of tamper detection. This paper proposes a multipurpose video watermarking algorithm that is resistant to rotation and scaling attacks while providing both copyright protection and tamper detection. We design a DFT template embedding method to make the watermarking algorithm resistant to rotation and scaling attacks efficiently. This method can detect the rotation and scaling that the video has undergone during the watermark extraction process, and then extract the copyright watermark information based on geometric correction. In addition, we propose a robust watermark embedding method with tamper detection function, which embeds copyright watermark information with validation bits in the DCT coefficients of I frames. By embedding the copyright watermark block by block, the algorithm can not only improve the robustness, but also enable the system to detect tampering. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm has good robustness to various attacks such as compression, filtering, rotation, scaling, frame rate changing and other inter-frame operations, and it outperforms previous geometrically robust algorithm by an average of 12.8% under geometric attacks on the normalized correlation values. Also, we show that our algorithm is effective in tamper detection by localizing the distorted areas in the video frames.

Abstract:To improve the security and invisibility of image encryption and concealment, an encrypted computer generated hologram (CGH) watermarking technology based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) is proposed. Firstly, the image to be encrypted is encoded and converted into a binary real-valued CGH. The encrypted CGH is then embedded into the host image as a watermark, implementing image encryption and concealment. During decryption, the encrypted CGH watermark is first extracted using the inverse DWT-SVD and the correct keys. Subsequently, the decrypted image is obtained by applying the correct optical key for computational holographic reproduction. The method introduces computational holographic coding and optical keys into the digital watermarking technique and combines the characteristics of DWT and SVD, solving the problem of the high false positive rate of the SVD algorithm. Simulation results show that the security of image encryption and concealment is greatly improved with the introduction of CGH into watermarking technology, especially in terms of robustness to watermark attacks and noise. This method can be applied in the fields of copyright protection and anti-counterfeiting for digital and printed images.

Abstract:To improve the robustness of image watermarking algorithms against geometric attacks such as cropping, rotation, scaling, shearing, projective mapping, a robust image watermarking algorithm based on DT CWT and Schur decomposition is proposed. Firstly, we use Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT CWT) to decompose the U component of the original image (cover image), the decomposed low frequency component is divided into non-overlapping N × N blocks, and Schur decomposition is applied in each block. Secondly, we modify maximum primary diagonal value of the upper triangular matrix of each block to embed the watermark. Finally, the Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) features of the watermarked image (stego-image) is saved as the SIFT key for watermark extraction. When extracting the watermark, we first use the SIFT features of stego-image and changed stego-image to obtain the geometric torsion, thereby a spatial synchronization can be guaranteed. And we then use the maximum election statistics to improve the quality of the extracted watermark. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can resist geometric attacks, and is more robust than the existing watermarking methods.

Abstract:Based on quaternion discrete cosine transform (QDCT) and singular value decomposition (SVD), a novel color image watermarking scheme using an optimized encrypted binary computer-generated hologram (CGH) as the watermark is presented. A Fibonacci transform-based binary CGH technique that uses particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to improve the reconstructed image quality has been proposed to generate a hologram of a watermark. By use of QDCT, the host color image is treated holistically as a vector field. The component of the host color image after QDCT, which is suitable for embedding watermark, is analyzed. With SVD, the mark CGH is inserted into the host color image by modifying the U matrix. To embed the binary CGH, multiple embedding strength factors are used in this study. To withstand the geometric attacks, based on Zernike moment algorithm and invariant centroid, an improved geometric distortion detection algorithm is proposed. Considering the significant color information, this algorithm is performed on the color invariance model. To obtain better imperceptibility and robustness, PSO is used for finding the proper multiple embedding strength factors. Compared with traditional geometric estimation method, the improved algorithm can estimate the transform parameters of the geometric distorted color image more accurately. Experimental results show that the proposed color image watermarking is not only secure and invisible, but also robust against common image processing operations and geometrical distortions.

Abstract:This paper proposed a novel multibits watermarking algorithm providing robustness against geometric attacks. The robustness is achieved from three aspects: ① Choosing the inscribed disk of the host image as the Zernike moments computation domain and the square in the disk as the watermarking embedding domain. ② Embedding the watermark in the cascade discrete wavelet transform-discrete cosine transform (DWT-DCT) domain by modulating the specified coefficient pair in each sub block. ③ Saving two selected Zernike moments of the original watermarked image to estimate and correct the geometric attacks before watermark extraction. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust to any angle of rotation attacks and wide range of scaling attacks, and as well, a variety of other attacks such as lossy compression, common signal processing.

Abstract:This paper presents a novel image watermarking approach, which embeds multiple watermarks in the discrete wavelet domain of the image simultaneously by quantizing the corresponding coefficients. We divide the image into blocks and embed three classes of watermarks, including robust, fragile, and caption watermarks, into the wavelet domain of each block. For watermark detecting, we develop a fast algorithm based on space-frequency localization property of wavelet transform to synchronize the watermarks, which makes the watermarks are resistant to cropping attack. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust to cropping, compression, noise adding, and filtering.

Abstract:A robust reversible watermarking (RRW) algorithm enables the extraction of the watermark and the restoration of the cover image without attacks while ensuring the watermark’s extraction when the image is under attack. Existing RRW methods mainly focused on achieving robustness against geometric attacks such as rotation and scaling by embedding watermarks within the global inscribed circle of an image. However, the geometric transformations targeted by the existing methods cannot cope with combined attacks that include cropping, which is a real application scenario for geometric attacks. To extend the robustness of the watermarking algorithm, this paper proposes a local Zernike moments (ZMs) embedding strategy based on feature point extraction and selection. For each local circular domain, the same watermark is embedded in the magnitude of the ZMs. After embedding, all the compensation information used to recover the robust embedded regions is embedded outside these local circular domains in a reversible way. When attacks occur, especially combined attacks involving cropping, by using side information, the local watermarked regions in the image can be localized to extract the robust watermark. Experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method under various combined attacks that include cropping operations.

Abstract:Through analysis of dither modulation algorithm of signal processing and the masking effect of human visual system,a DCT domain blind watermark model was proposed.Watermark preprocessing,embedding,extraction,and F norm-based detection were realized for binary image watermarks in MATLAB simulation environment.The imperceptibility of watermark was improved through automatically adjusting the quantization step during watermarking.Blind detection of watermark was realized without the original host image and algorithm complexity was reduced by leaving out inverse discrete cosine transform process.The simulation results showed that the scheme has stronger robustness against conventional attacks such as higher JPEG compression,cropping,noise overlap,multiple watermarking,etc.This scheme can be applied in digital copyright protection and secret communications.

Abstract:With the rapid spread of network information, the information maintenance has become the focus of information security on networks. Digital watermarking is one of the effective methods to protect information security, achieve anticounterfeiting traceability, and protect copyright, and it is an important branch of information hiding technology. However, one of the most challenging questions of digital watermarking is how to present strong robustness in geometric attacks. Nowadays, most watermarking algorithms are relatively weak robustness against geometric attacks. A robust watermarking algorithm against geometric attacks based on the non-subsampled shearlet transform and the Harris-Laplace detector is proposed. The host image is decomposed into subbands with different directions by the shearlet transform, and the Harris-Laplace detector is utilized to obtain the feature regions. Then, the nonoverlapping regions with strong robustness are selected to embed watermark by the fuzzy c-means cluster algorithm. The experimental results indicate that the proposed watermarking scheme can well resist geometric attacks.
