Abstract:Objectives To determine whether phase-contrast X-ray imaging can be used to visualise directly the accumulated extracellular matrix proteins associated with liver fibrosis in common bile duct ligated mice. Methods Twenty-six-week-old C57BL female mice were randomised into three groups. In groups 1 ( n = 5) and 2 ( n = 10), common bile duct ligation was conducted to produce secondary biliary cirrhosis. Mouse livers were then excised 15 (group 1) and 40 days (group 2) after the ligation of the common bile duct for imaging. In the control group, the livers of 5 mice were excised 40 days after the sham operation. Images were then acquired using the analyser crystal set at different positions of the rocking curve. Results The results show that the fibrotic septa and hepatic lobules enclosed by fibrotic septa can be visualised clearly at the whole organ level via phase-contrast X-ray imaging without any contrast agent. Conclusion These results suggest that phase-contrast X-ray imaging can easily reveal the accumulated extracellular matrix proteins associated with liver fibrosis without using any contrast agent and has great potential in the study of liver fibrosis. Key Points • Phase-contrast X-ray imaging may aid the study of liver fibrosis. • It provides higher contrast and spatial resolution (ca. 10 μm) than conventional radiography. • It can reveal fibrotic septa, small ducts and vessels without using contrast agents. • Results in animals now need to be translated to human clinical practice.
A Preliminary Study of Phase Contrast X-ray Imaging with Synchrotron Radiation

Abstract:Objective To investigate the mouse liver blood vessel images using phase contrast X-ray imaging with synchrotron radiation. Methods 6 female C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into two groups, 3 mice in each group. In one group, livers excised after hgated arteries, veins and common bile duct. In another group, iodine infused via the portal vein and drained from inferior vena cave until all the blood in the portal veins and hepatic veins was displaced. After infusion, arteries, veins and common bile duct were ligated and livers were excised. Results Blood vessel images were clearly produced by diffraction enhanced imaging. This method can discriminate vessels down to about 40 μm in diameter without contrast agent. Using a contrasting agent more details could be produced. In one liver lobe, the entire branch of the portal vein could be clearly produced by one by one phase contrast image from the main axial blood vessels of liver lobe to the nine generation of branching. Conclusions Phase contrast imaging has the advantage of good contrast and high spatial resolution. Abstract:Liver fibrosis is a life-threatening disease with high morbidity and mortality owing to its diverse causes. Liver biopsy, as the current gold standard for diagnosing and staging liver fibrosis, has a number of limitations, including sample variability, relatively high cost, an invasive nature, and the potential of complications. Most importantly, in clinical practice, patients often reject additional liver biopsies after initiating treatment despite their being necessary for long-term follow-up. To resolve these problems, a number of different noninvasive imaging-based methods have been developed for accurate diagnosis of liver fibrosis. However, these techniques only reflect morphological or perfusion-related alterations in the liver, and thus they are generally only useful for the diagnosis of late-stage liver fibrosis (liver cirrhosis), which is already characterized by "irreversible" anatomic and hemodynamic changes. Thus, it is essential that new approaches are developed for accurately diagnosing early-stage liver fibrosis as at this stage the disease may be "reversed" by active treatment. The development of molecular MR imaging technology has potential in this regard, as it facilitates noninvasive, target-specific imaging of liver fibrosis. We provide an overview of recent advances in molecular MR imaging for the diagnosis and staging of liver fibrosis and we compare novel technologies with conventional MR imaging techniques.
In-line X-ray phase-contrast imaging of murine liver microvasculature ex vivo

Abstract:Imaging blood vessels is of importance for determining the vascular distribution of organs and tumors. Phase-contrast X-ray imaging can reveal the vessels in much more detail than conventional X-ray absorption method. Visualizing murine liver microvasculature ex vivo with phase-contrast X-ray imaging was performed at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Barium sulfate and physiological saline were used as contrast agents for the blood vessels. Blood vessels of <Phi 20 mu m could be detected by replacing resident blood with physiological saline or barium sulfate. An entire branch of the portal vein (from the main axial portal vein to the ninth generation of branching) could be captured in a single phase-contrast image. It is demonstrated that selective angiography based on phase contrast X-ray imaging, with a physiological material of low Z elements (such as saline) being the contrast agent, is a viable imaging strategy. Further efforts will be focused on using the technique to image tumor angiogenesis.

Abstract:To evaluate the value of phase contrast x-ray imaging (PCI) with a synchrotron radiation (SR) source in which we performed hepatic imaging in the 4W I A beamline of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). The hepatic specimens from a SD mouse, a normal adult and a biliary cirrhosis patient were imaged with the diffraction enhanced imaging (DEI) technique. We showed that the three grade vessel branches in the mouse, the hepatic lobule of the normal adult and the enlarged bile ducts of the biliary cirrhosis patient could all be clearly revealed with the DEI technique. Our results indicated that the PCI techniques including DEI might improve hepatic imaging performance in spatial resolution and tissue contrast.
Diffusion-weighted Imaging and Variable Flip Angle T1 Mapping: a Supplement for Image-Guided Biopsy in Follow-Up Analysis of Liver Fibrosis

Abstract:Purpose To evaluate the performance of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and variable flip angle (VFA) T1 mapping as a supplement to image-guided biopsy in follow-up analysis of liver fibrosis.Materials and Methods This prospective study was approved by the institution's committee on human research,and written informed consent was provided from the enrolled patients.We investigated five MRI parameters of DWI and VFA T1 mapping,collected from 11 patients who underwent serial ultrasound image-guided biopsy with follow-up MRI within 1.5 years after treatment for liver fibrosis/cirrhosis.For each patient,four consecutive MRI examinations were conducted,including baseline MRI before treatment and three follow-up MRI examinations after treatment at each 0.5-year interval.ADC values at four b values and T1 relaxation times were correlated to pathology-confirmed liver fibrosis stages,which were subsequently divided into two groups,stages F2-3 and F4.The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis and repeated measurement analysis of variance were used for statistical analysis.Results Among these ADC parameters,ADC value (b =500 s/mm2) was the most consistent in differentiating between stage F2-3 and F4 liver fibrosis.Repeated measurement analysis showed that the intra-group and inter-group differences were 0.447 and 0.024,respectively.T1 relaxation time could not consistently differentiate between the F2-3 and F4 groups;however,it was repeatable,and the intra-group and inter-group differences were 0.410 and 0.042,respectively.Conclusion MRI-ADC value at a b value of 500 s/mm2 can be a promising biomarker for differentiating stages F2-3 and F4 liver fibrosis.A combination of this biomarker with repeatable T1 relaxation time may function as a non-invasive tool for follow-up liver fibrosis in patients who reject repeated image-guided biopsy.

Abstract:Purpose(:) To evaluate the pharmacokinetic parameters of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in diagnosing and staging liver fibrosis in rabbits.Materials and Methods: DCE-MRI with gadodiamide (Gd-DTPA-BMA) was performed on a 3.0 Tesla, 60cm bore MR scanner for rabbits with CCl4-induced liver fibrosis, and an untreated control group. Fibrosis was staged according to the METAVIR system: control (F0; n=13), nonadvanced fibrosis (F1-2; n=15), and advanced fibrosis (F3-4; n=12). The DCE-MRI parameters K-trans, k(ep), V-e, and v(p) were measured with a dual-input extended Tofts model. Receiver operating characteristic analyses were performed to assess the diagnostic performance of K-trans, V-e, and v(p) in staging liver fibrosis.Results: Both K-trans and V-e decreased with increasing fibrosis stage. K-trans of the control group was significantly different from that of the overall fibrosis group, nonadvanced group, and advanced group (P < 0.001 for all). Significant differences were found between V-e of the control group and that of the overall fibrosis and advanced groups (P=0.019 and P=0.009, respectively). For K-trans, the areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROCs) for discriminating the control group from the overall fibrosis and advanced fibrosis groups were 0.909 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.809-1.000), and 0.936 (95% CI, 0.847-1.000), respectively. For discriminating between the control and nonadvanced fibrosis groups, the AUROC of K-trans was 0.887 (95% CI, 0.762-1.000). The AUROCs of K-trans were higher than those of V-e and v(p) for discriminating between the control and overall fibrosis groups, the control and nonadvanced fibrosis groups, and the control and advanced fibrosis groups. Pharmacokinetic parameters were negatively correlated with fibrosis stage (K-trans, rho=-0.668, P < 0.001; V-e, rho=-0.438, P=0.005; v(p), rho=-0.360, P=0.023).Conclusion: Among pharmacokinetic parameters of DCE-MRI in our study, K-trans was an excellent predictor for differentiating fibrotic livers from normal livers, and differentiating normal livers from nonadvanced or advanced fibrosis livers.
Assessment of Liver Fibrosis in the Early Stages with Perfusion CT.

Abstract:OBJECTIVES:This work aims to assess the feasibility of perfusion CT in diagnosis of liver fibrosis in the early stage.MATERIALS AND METHODS:Solutions of carbon tetrachloride (CCL4) were injected into the peritoneum of 45 rabbits to establish rabbit models of liver fibrosis. Perfusion CT were performed at 4-, 8-, 12- and 16- week after injection. The parametric perfusion indices of blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV), arterial liver perfusion (ALP), portal venous perfusion (PVP), and hepatic perfusion index (HPI) on perfusion maps were measured. Liver samples were scored as F0, F1, F2, F3, F4 for fibrosis.RESULTS:In 50 rabbits, 23 rabbits survived. Of these survival rabbits, 5 rabbits were histopathologically scored as F0, 7 rabbits were F1, 8 rabbits were F2, and 3 rabbits were F3. For relatively small number of F3, multiple comparisons were made for F0 vs. F1, F1 vs. F2 and F0 vs. F2. A statistically significant difference was observed in PVP, BV, BF, ALP and HPI between F1 vs. F2 and F0 vs. F2, whereas a significant statistical difference was only achieved in PVP between F0 vs. F1. In the early stage of liver fibrosis PVP decreased with the progression of liver fibrosis, whereas HPI, ALP and BF increased with the progression of liver fibrosis. BV had no marked change.CONCLUSIONS:Perfusion CT is feasible in diagnosis of early stage of liver fibrosis. PVP appears to be the most promising parametric perfusion index.

Abstract:PURPOSE: To evaluate the feasibility of using contrast material-enhanced computed tomographic (CT) measurements of hepatic fractional extracellular space (fECS) and macromolecular contrast material (MMCM) uptake to measure severity of liver fibrosis.MATERIALS AND METHODS: All procedures were approved by and executed in accordance with University of California, San Francisco, institutional animal care and use committee regulations. Twenty-one rats that received intragastric CCl(4) for 0-12 weeks were imaged with respiratory-gated micro-CT by using both a conventional contrast material and a novel iodinated MMCM. Histopathologic hepatic fibrosis was graded qualitatively by using the Ishak fibrosis score and quantitatively by using morphometry of the fibrosis area. Hepatic fECS and MMCM uptake were calculated for each examination and correlated with histopathologic findings by using uni- and multivariate linear regressions.RESULTS: Ishak fibrosis scores ranged from a baseline of 0 in untreated animals to a maximum of 5. Histopathologic liver fibrosis area increased from 0.46% to 3.5% over the same interval. Strong correlations were seen between conventional contrast-enhanced CT measurements of fECS and both the Ishak fibrosis scores (R(2) = 0.751, P < .001) and the fibrosis area (R(2) = 0.801, P < .001). Strong negative correlations were observed between uptake of MMCM in the liver and Ishak fibrosis scores (R(2) = 0.827, P < .001), as well as between uptake of MMCM in the liver and fibrosis area (R(2) = 0.643, P = .001). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed a trend toward independence for fECS and MMCM uptake in the prediction of Ishak fibrosis scores, with an R(2) value of 0.86 (P = .081 and P = .033, respectively).CONCLUSION: Contrast-enhanced CT measurements of fECS and MMCM uptake are individually capable of being used to estimate the degree of early hepatic fibrosis in a rat model.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: http://radiology.rsna.org/lookup/suppl/doi:10.1148/radiol.12112452/-/DC1.

Abstract:BackgroundThis study aimed to determine whether synchrotron radiation (SR)-based X-ray in-line phase-contrast imaging (IL-PCI) can be used to investigate the morphological characteristics of tumor neovascularization in a liver xenograft animal model.MethodsA human hepatocellular carcinoma HCCLM3 xenograft model was established in nude mice. Xenografts were sampled each week for 4 weeks and fixed to analyze tissue characteristics and neovascularization using SR-based X-ray in-line phase contrast computed tomography (IL-XPCT) without any contrast agent.ResultsThe effect of the energy level and object–to-detector distance on phase-contrast difference was in good agreement with the theory of IL-PCI. Boundaries between the tumor and adjacent normal tissues at week 1 were clearly observed in two-dimensional phase contrast projection imaging. A quantitative contrast difference was observed from weeks 1 to 4. Moreover, 3D image reconstruction of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) samples showed blood vessels inside the tumor were abnormal. The smallest blood vessels measured approximately 20 μm in diameter. The tumor vascular density initially increased and then decreased gradually over time. The maximum tumor vascular density was 4.29% at week 2.ConclusionIL-XPCT successfully acquired images of neovascularization in HCC xenografts in nude mice.

Abstract:Recently,research on using X-ray phase information in medicine has been growing remarkably fast.Phase-contrast imaging with synchrotron radiation can reveal inner soft tissues such as tendons,cartilage,ligaments,adipose tissue,vessels and nerves without a contrast agent.We have visualized the liver,bile duct,lung,kidney,stomach and intestine,heart,blood vessel,bone and arthrosis,and tumor tissues using "in-line" phase contrast imaging and diffraction-enhanced imaging.It is seen that the synchrotron radiation graphs show much higher resolution.This method is especially suitable for studying soft tissue structure and blood vessels.
Phase-Contrast Imaging with Synchrotron X-Ray for Mouse Lung

Abstract:Phase-contrast imaging with synchrotron X-ray has great potential to reveal the structure inside soft tissues, because the sensitivity of this method is approximate to1000 times higher than that of the absorption-contrast X-ray method. With a synchrotron X-ray source, bronchia tree and the image created by multiple layer of alveoli in the mouse lung was revealed clearly. The results indicate that the considerable potential of phase-contrast imaging with synchrotron X-ray in the detection of pathological changes of lung which can't be detected by conventional absorption-contrast X-ray method.
3D Imaging of the Liver Extracellular Matrix in a Mouse Model of Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis

Abstract:Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the most common chronic liver disease in the United States, affecting more than 70 million Americans. NASH can progress to fibrosis and eventually to cirrhosis, a significant risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma. The extracellular matrix (ECM) provides structural support and maintains liver homeostasis via matricellular signals. Liver fibrosis results from an imbalance in the dynamic ECM remodeling process and is characterized by excessive accumulation of structural elements and associated changes in glycosaminoglycans. The typical fibrosis pattern of NASH is called "chicken wire," which usually consists of zone 3 perisinusoidal/pericellular fibrosis, based on features observed by Masson's trichrome stain and Picrosirius Red stains. However, these traditional thin two-dimensional (2D) tissue slide-based imaging techniques cannot demonstrate the detailed three-dimensional (3D) ECM structural changes, limiting the understanding of the dynamic ECM remodeling in liver fibrosis. The current work optimized a fast and efficient protocol to image the native ECM structure in the liver via decellularization to address the above challenges. Mice were fed either with chow or fast-food diet for 14 weeks. Decellularization was performed after in situ portal vein perfusion, and the two-photon microscopy techniques were applied to image and analyze changes in the native ECM. The 3D images of the normal and NASH livers were reconstituted and analyzed. Performing in situ perfusion decellularization and analyzing the scaffold by two-photon microscopy provided a practical and reliable platform to visualize the dynamic ECM remodeling in the liver.

Abstract:Liver fibrosis is a global health challenge with high morbidity and mortality rates, and diagnostic sensitivity of liver fibrosis tests can be increased using multimodal molecular agents. We designed cyclic arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (cRGD)-modified nanoparticles (NPs) using ultrasound (US)/computed tomography (CT)/magnetic resonance (MR) triple-modality imaging to evaluate liver fibrosis stages. In vitro and in vivo studies were conducted using primary hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and a rat model of liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ). Our results showed cRGD-poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-Fe 3 O 4 -perfluorocarbon bromide (cRGD-PLGA-Fe 3 O 4 -PFOB) NPs were preferentially internalised by activated HSCs (aHSCs). The main cell types expressing integrin α v β 3 during liver fibrogenesis were the aHSCs. The protein levels of α v and β 3 expressed on aHSCs increased with the progression of liver fibrosis. After intravenous injection of cRGD-PLGA-Fe 3 O 4 -PFOB NPs, the echo intensity (EI) values, CT values, and T2 values of liver parenchyma correlated well with liver fibrosis severity. cRGD-PLGA-Fe 3 O 4 -PFOB NPs as multifunction contrast agents showed great potential to reflect the degree of HSC activation and distinguish among different liver fibrotic stages. The ligand-directed and integrin α v β 3 -mediated accumulation provides active and passive targeting capabilities, permitting the targeted multimodal imaging of cRGD-PLGA-Fe 3 O 4 -PFOB NPs, which delivers accurate non-invasive diagnosis and real-time monitoring of liver fibrosis development.

Abstract:Objective To visualize deep-level microvascular structure in rat hind limb by microangiographic technique,and compare images with those by conventional method.Methods Eight Sprague Dawley rats were used for ex vivo study.Either normal saline or barium sulfate solution was infused through the iliac artery catheter into the left hind limb.The specimens of different thickness were then imaged by synchrotron radiation source,and images were compared with those by conventional method.In synchrotron radiation imaging,in-line phase-contrast imaging technique was used,and phase contrast images were compared at different energy levels of monochromatic synchrotron radiation and object-image distances.One rat was used for synchrotron radiation imaging of the liver,lung,and limb without using any contrast.Results Using synchrotron radiation,blood vessel could be detected in the liver without using any contrast,and the hind limb infused with normal saline or barium sulfate solution.In addition,vessels in the hind limb infused with barium sulfate solution could be clearly depicted with more detail by synchrotron radiation imaging compared with conventional method,with the minimum visualized blood vessel about 9 μm in diameter.Conclusion Synchrotron radiation-based microangiography provided a practical and effective mean to observe the microvasculature of limbs,which might be useful in assessment of angiogenesis in lower limbs.
Comparative analysis of [18F]F-FAPI PET/CT, [18F]F-FDG PET/CT and magnetization transfer MR imaging to detect intestinal fibrosis in Crohn's disease: A prospective animal model and human cohort study

Abstract:Purpose: Accurately and early detection of intestinal fibrosis in Crohn's disease (CD) is crucial for clinical management yet remains an unmet need. Fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) PET/CT has emerged as a promising tool to assess fibrosis. We aimed to investigate the diagnostic capability of [18F]F-FAPI PET/CT in detecting intestinal fibrosis and compared it with[18F]F-FDG PET/CT and magnetization transfer MR imaging (MTI). Methods: Twenty-two rats underwent TNBS treatment to simulate fibrosis development, followed by three quantitative imaging sessions within one week. Mean and maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmean and SUVmax) were calculated on[18F]F-FAPI and [18F]F-FDG PET/CT, along with normalized magnetization transfer ratio on MTI. Intestinal fibrosis was assessed pathologically, with MTI serving as imaging standard for fibrosis. The diagnostic efficacy of imaging parameters in fibrosis was compared using pathological and imaging standards. Ten patients with 34 bowel strictures were prospectively recruited to validate their diagnostic performance, using the identical imaging protocol. Results: In CD patients, the accuracy of FAPI uptake (both AUCs = 0.87, both P ≤ 0.01) in distinguishing non-to-mild from moderate-to-severe fibrosis was higher than FDG uptake (both AUCs = 0.82, P ≤ 0.01) and comparable to MTI (AUCs = 0.90, P ≤ 0.001). In rats, FAPI uptake responded earlier to fibrosis development than FDG and MTI; consistently, during early phase, FAPI uptake showed a stronger correlation (SUVmean: R = 0.69) with pathological fibrosis than FDG (SUVmean: R = 0.17) and MTI (R = 0.52). Conclusion: The diagnostic efficacy of [18F]F-FAPI PET/CT in detecting CD fibrosis is superior to [18F]F-FDG PET/CT and comparable to MTI, exhibiting great potential for early detection of intestinal fibrosis.
Quantitative assessment with contrast-enhanced ultrasonography in a rat model of liver fibrosis

Abstract:Objective Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) was used in a rat model with liver fibrosis in order to investigate quantitative parameters correlated with fibrosis grades. Methods Ninety-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were induced as liver fibrosis models by thioacetamide (TAA). Results The fibrosis stage on pathology was as the following: S0=11, S1=14, S2=30, S3=27, and S4=10. There were statistical correlations between fibrosis stage and a1(r=-0.508, P<0.001), PI (r=-0.663, P<0.001), AUC (r=-0.773, P<0.001), and transit time (r=-0.642, P<0.001) from ROI of hepatic parenchyma. Conclusion The quantitative parameters on the time-intensity curve of dynamic CEUS images reflect the hepatic fibrosis stage in the rat model.

Longitudinal Imaging of Liver Cancer Using MicroCT and Nanoparticle Contrast Agents in CRISPR/Cas9-Induced Liver Cancer Mouse Model

Abstract:Introduction: Micro-computed tomography with nanoparticle contrast agents may be a suitable tool for monitoring the time course of the development and progression of tumors. Here, we suggest a practical and convenient experimental method for generating and longitudinally imaging murine liver cancer models. Methods: Liver cancer was induced in 6 experimental mice by injecting clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats-associated protein 9 plasmids causing mutations in genes expressed by hepatocytes. Nanoparticle agents are captured by Kupffer cells and detected by micro-computed tomography, thereby enabling longitudinal imaging. A total of 9 mice were used for the experiment. Six mice were injected with both plasmids and contrast, 2 injected with contrast alone, and one not injected with either agent. Micro-computed tomography images were acquired every 2- up to 14-weeks after cancer induction. Results: Liver cancer was first detected by micro-computed tomography at 8 weeks. The mean value of hepatic parenchymal attenuation remained almost unchanged over time, although the standard deviation of attenuation, reflecting heterogeneous contrast enhancement of the hepatic parenchyma, increased slowly over time in all mice. Histopathologically, heterogeneous distribution and aggregation of Kupffer cells was more prominent in the experimental group than in the control group. Heterogeneous enhancement of hepatic parenchyma, which could cause image quality deterioration and image misinterpretation, was observed and could be due to variation in Kupffer cells distribution. Conclusion: Micro-computed tomography with nanoparticle contrast is useful in evaluating the induction and characteristics of liver cancer, determining appropriate size of liver cancer for testing, and confirming therapeutic response.
Non-invasive Liver Fibrosis Screening on CT Images using Radiomics

Abstract:Objectives: To develop and evaluate a radiomics machine learning model for detecting liver fibrosis on CT of the liver. Methods: For this retrospective, single-centre study, radiomic features were extracted from Regions of Interest (ROIs) on CT images of patients who underwent simultaneous liver biopsy and CT examinations. Combinations of contrast, normalization, machine learning model, and feature selection method were determined based on their mean test Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (AUC) on randomly placed ROIs. The combination and selected features with the highest AUC were used to develop a final liver fibrosis screening model. Results: The study included 101 male and 68 female patients (mean age = 51.2 years $\pm$ 14.7 [SD]). When averaging the AUC across all combinations, non-contrast enhanced (NC) CT (AUC, 0.6100; 95% CI: 0.5897, 0.6303) outperformed contrast-enhanced CT (AUC, 0.5680; 95% CI: 0.5471, 0.5890). The combination of hyperparameters and features that yielded the highest AUC was a logistic regression model with inputs features of maximum, energy, kurtosis, skewness, and small area high gray level emphasis extracted from non-contrast enhanced NC CT normalized using Gamma correction with $\gamma$ = 1.5 (AUC, 0.7833; 95% CI: 0.7821, 0.7845), (sensitivity, 0.9091; 95% CI: 0.9091, 0.9091). Conclusions: Radiomics-based machine learning models allow for the detection of liver fibrosis with reasonable accuracy and high sensitivity on NC CT. Thus, these models can be used to non-invasively screen for liver fibrosis, contributing to earlier detection of the disease at a potentially curable stage.
