Abstract:Objective:To review the development history and status of modern medical conditions treated by acupuncture,in order to provide references for future research. Methods:Based on clarifying the meaning and significance of modern medical conditions treated by acupuncture,summarize the content and feature in each stage. Results:The development history contains three stage since 1994s:summary and quest of clinical experience,consult from expert advice,scientific and systematic review for devel-opment in theory. Conclusion:The study of modern medical conditions treated by acupuncture is a complex and systematic project,needs to be constantly improved as well. We hope to solve the question which medical conditions can be treated by acupuncture

Abstract:The article is summarizing TCM clinic research of hematuria of chronic glomerulonephritis in lately decade,including pathogeny,pathogenesis and treatment,prescription of chronic GN.This disease usually caused by heat damaged the collateral,viscera (liver,spleen or kidney) qi and yin deficiency couldn't control the blood and blood spilled the vein or blood stasis which caused by qi deficiency couldn't move the blood.Syndrome differenciation,classical prescription were commonly used in traditional chinese medicine treatment with certain effect,such as the way of nourishing yin and clearing heat、cooling blood and hemostasis,Reinforcing spleen and kidney,tonifying qi andyin,promoting blood circulation for removing blood stasis,and on the base of previous experience,a part of Chinese patent drug and yraditional Chinese medicine injections also had obvious clinical effect.

From immune regulation of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of nephritis damp heat syndrome,the research of traditional Chinese medicine from the level of cytokine mechanism,determine the hot and humid card cytokines level objective differentiation,can provide a new basis for nephritis syndrome differentiation treatment for damp and hot of nephritis.

Abstract:Urinary tract infections(UTI) is one of the frequent complications in diabetics.After retrieving the pertinent literature of recent years,we focused on the pathologic mechanism and pathologic characteristics,therapeutic principles and combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and western medicine.We expounded the advantages of TCM on treating urinary tract infection in diabetics,emphasizing on the simple or empirical recipes of Chinese medicine,Chinese patent medicine and combined treatment of Chinese medicine and western medicine.TCM has significant curative effects on UTI,can prevent the side effect caused by western medicine and improve the immunity of patients.It has broad prospects for development.

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of renal tubular injury caused by recurrent urinary tract infection. Methods Review the clinical research literature about the treatment of recurrent urinary tract infection with traditional Chinese medicine or Chinese patent medicine in recent five years and and evaluate its clinical efficacy. Results The study found that after the Chinese medicine treatment such as Jiawei Zhuling decoction, Qingxin Lianzi dicoction, Erding Erxian decoction, Miling capsule, Shenshu granule, Sanjin pills and so on, the correlation index of renal tubular injury improved significantly (P < 0.05), 6 months recurrence rate was from 10% to 32.6%. Conclusion The pathogenesis of recurrent urinary tract infections is mainly retention of damp-heat,deficiency of spleen and kidney, qi stagnation and blood stasis, damaged kidney collateral. So, fuling, Zexie, Cheqianzi, Mudanpi, Dangshen, Huangqi, Xianmao, Xianlingpi and other drugs are often used in clinical to clear away heat-dampness,activate blood and absorb clots strengthen spleen and kidney

Abstract:This paper emphasizes the importance of the mechanism of renal tissue damage in conducting treatment of lupus nephritis in addition to the renal histology.There are at least 4 kinds of mechanisms related to the renal tissue damage of LN including circulating immune complex deposition,in situ immune complex formation,vasculitic change and thrombotic mircoangiopathy.Treatment according to the mechanisms of tissue damage will give rise to a much better result as compared with the classic treatment based on morphology alone.Multi-target immune theapy has been recommended for treatment of those severe and complicated LN.

Abstract:Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common and progressive disease that has become a major public health problem on a global scale. Renal fibrosis is a common feature in the pathogenesis of CKD, which is mainly related to the excessive accumulation and deposition of extracellular matrix caused by various inflammatory factors. No ideal treatment has yet been established. In recent years, based on the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory of CKD and its molecular mechanism, clinical evidence or experimental studies have confirmed that a variety of Chinese materia medica (CMM) and their effective components can delay the progress of CKD. TCM believes that the pathogenesis of CKD is the deficiency in the root and excess in the branch, and the deficiency and excess are always accompanied by the disease. The strategies of TCM in treating CKD are mainly based on invigorating Qi, tonifying the kidneys, promoting blood circulation, removing stasis, eliminating heat and dampness, removing turbidity, and eliminating edema, and these effects are multitargeted and multifunctional. This review attempts to summarize the theories and treatment strategies of TCM in the treatment of CKD and presents the efficacy and mechanisms of several CMMs supported by clinical evidence or experimental studies. In addition, the relationship between the macroscopic of TCM and the microscopic of modern medicine and the problems faced in further research were also discussed.

Abstract:The treatment of IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is difficult, and modern medicine is still not clear about its etiology and pathogenesis. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) plays an important role in the treatment of IgAN, the use of "poison damage of renal collaterals", from the wind treatment, general use, "mediation trijiao", treating IgAN from the pharynx, spleen and kidney, intelligent door as well as five zang-organs make , the selection of Zhuling decoction, Banxia-xiexin decoction, Shenqi-Dihuang Decoction, Guben-Tongluo Decoction and other classic and experience prescriptions, trijiao acupuncture, invigorating spleen and kidney acupuncture treatment, etc. TCM such as diet therapy can control clinical symptoms such as hematuria, proteinuria and hypertension caused by IgAN, and further control and delay the progress of IgAN.

Abstract:Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a worldwide public health issue with poor outcomes and high cost. There is growing evidence that some of the adverse outcomes of CKD can be prevented or delayed by early treatment using angiotensin II-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin II-receptor blockers. A great amount of the world's population has been using traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCHM) for treatment of CKD and has accumulated their experience for years. In this article, the knowledge and the therapeutic principles of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of CKD are briefly reviewed. The efficacy of several TCHMs, supported by either clinical evidence or experimental studies, is presented. The future direction for the study of Chinese herbal medicines in CKD is discussed. Abstract:Through the analysis and sorting of domestic literatures in recent years,get the summary that TCM has obvious clinical value in chronic renal failure non-replacement therapy.However,the application of Chinese medical depends on different clinical stage.Currently,TCM formula preparation,which mainly includes rhubarb,astragalus,danshen,reflects the good effect in the treatment of chronic renal failure via Standardized application.TCM formula preparation can effectively reduce the urea nitrogen(BUN),creatinine(Cr) content and improve renal blood-supply,protect and restore glomerulus'function.By improving the body immunity,reduce renal damage,enhance the kidney compensatory ability,thus plays a delaying role of chronic renal failure process.However,most traditional Chinese medicines are natural plant instead of the chemical synthesis preparations and has little side effects on human body.Thus explain that traditional Chinese medicine has certain advantages in the treatment of chronic renal failure,therefore showed better development and utilization foreground.

Abstract:Immune-related nephropathy (IRN) refers to immune-response-mediated glomerulonephritis and is the main cause of end-stage renal failure. The pathogenesis of IRN is not fully understood; therefore, treatment is challenging. Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) have potent clinical effects in the treatment of the IRN conditions immunoglobulin A nephropathy, lupus nephropathy, and diabetic nephropathy. The underlying mechanisms mainly include its inhibition of inflammation; improvements to renal interstitial fibrosis, oxidative stress, autophagy, apoptosis; and regulation of immunity. In this review, we summarize the clinical symptoms of the three IRN subtypes and the use of TCM prescriptions, herbs, and bioactive compounds in treating IRN, as well as the potential mechanisms, intending to provide a reference for the future study of TCM as IRN treatments.

Abstract:Schistosomiasis is a modern disease name, but it has been widespread in ancient China and exists in a specific form in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) . The purpose of the paper is to make clear the existing form of schistosomiasis in TCM and infer the prevalence of schistosomiasis in ancient China. The paper focuses on the period when great progress was made on schistosomiasis by TCM, and sums up the understanding of TCM toward schistosomiasis in this period. By studying and analyzing the literature of schistosomiasis in this period, the paper tries to find out the representative Chinese medicine symptom description and TCM "other name" of schistosomiasis, so as to accurately judge whether the relevant description in ancient TCM books and historical documents can provide scientific basis for schistosomiasis. It is important to understand the prevalence and cognition of schistosomiasis in ancient China.

Abstract:Lupus nephritis (LN) is an autoimmune disease with multiple system involvement and is also one of the most serious forms of organ damage in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), which is mainly caused by the formation and deposition of immune complexes in glomeruli. More than 50% of SLE patients have clinical manifestations of renal damage. At present, the treatment of lupus nephritis is mainly based on glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants. However, due to adverse drug reactions and frequent recurrence or aggravation after drug reduction or withdrawal, the prognosis remains poor; thus, it is still one of the most important causes of end-stage renal failure. Therefore, new treatment strategies are urgently needed. This article aims to review the application of traditional Chinese medicine and natural extracts in the treatment of lupus nephritis to provide the basic mechanisms of treatment and a new treatment strategy with clear effects and high safety performance.

Abstract:Background: Here, a bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis was used to analyze the research status and application of herbal medicine for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD). By looking for research hotspots and key topics, we provide new clues and research directions for future research. Methods: Articles and reviews regarding herbal medicine in the treatment of CKD were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection on 23 May 2022. The R-bibliometrix, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace software were used to conduct the bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis. Results: In total, 5,920 authors at 1,330 institutions from 68 countries published 1,602 papers in 355 academic journals. China is the leader and pioneer in the research and application of herbal medicine in the field of CKD treatment. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine contributed the most publications. Ping Li (China-Japan Friendship Hospital) published the most articles, while Yingyong Zhao (Northwest University) had the most cocitations. However, cooperation among countries and the research institutions is not sufficient. Journal of Ethnopharmacology published the most research and application of herbal medicine in the treatment of CKD and was the most commonly co-cited journal. The most influential research hotspots about herbal medicine in the treatment of CKD focused on diabetic nephropathy-related research, Balkan endemic nephropathy, and pharmacokinetic study. Conclusion: Herbal medicine has a wide range of pharmacological activities and therapeutic value. The research and application of herbal medicine for the treatment of CKD, especially diabetic nephropathy, will remain a hot topic in the future.

Abstract:With the epidemic rise of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in many countries of the world, there is an urgent need to develop and implement strategies aiming at preventing the development and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD), and the situation is the same in China. Glomerulonephritis is still the most common cause of ESRD in China; however, epidemiologic studies have revealed that the prevalence of diabetes and hypertension, which both are major causes of ESRD in many developed countries, are increasing dramatically. Additional studies about the prevalence of albuminuria in diabetes mellitus (DM) patients, and the prevalence of kidney lesion in certain high-risk population (e.g., hypertension and atherosclerosis) are undergoing. According to a questionnaire survey and some reports, education program for Chinese nephrologists and practitioners should to be strengthened.

Abstract:Since the reform and opening up 3 decades ago,China′s nephrology has made great achivements after hard work of several generations of Chinese nephrologists;in the diagnosis and treatment for common kidney diseases,especially glomerular diseases,striking progress has been made;and China′s nephrology in some research fields has geared to the international conventions.But as the study foundation of kidney diseases in China is weak,with widespread population and very uneven development,there is still much space for improving China′s diagnosis and treatment of rare kidney diseases,and there is still a long way to go to enhance clinical and basic researches on rare kidney diseases.To achieve this goal,we put forward the following opinions:1 .Standardization of renal biopsy pathologic examination,paying attention to the roles of the immune pathology,and electron microscopy in pathological diagnosis.We emphasize on high quality production and dyeing of pathological specimen;and light microscopy,immunofluorescence,and electron microscopy are all indispensable and mutually complementary.We advocate clinical pathological conference to promote interactions between pathologists and clinical experts.2.Attaching great importance to the collection and analysis of clinical data,combining genetic screening to effectively improve the diagnosis of rare kidney diseases,and prevent misdiagnosis and failure to diagnose.We emphasize on complete collection of illness history (including familial history)and clinical data (including physical,laboratory, and related medical image examinations)for serious analysis;on the basis of the above,disease-relevant special examination and gene detection for patients with suspected inherited kidney diseases should be performed,in order to avoid failure to diagnose rare secondary renal diseases and genetic diseases or misdiagnosing them as primary kidney diseases.3.We also advocate active epidemiological investigation and the pathogenesis researches on very harmful rare kidney diseases so as to elucidate the pathogenesis.4.We should organize high quality clinical therapeutic trials to obtain high quality evidence-based medical data for the purpose of providing guidance and improving the treatment of rare kidney diseases in China.5.We emphasize individualized treatment and giving full play to the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine for improving the efficacy of rare kidney diseases.

Abstract:Abstract IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is a major cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease worldwide. Currently, clinical interventions for IgAN are limited, and many patients seek out alternative therapies such as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In the last several years, TCM has accumulated ample application experiences and achieved favorable clinical effects. This article summarizes high-quality research from basic science to clinical applications aimed to provide more evidence-based medicine proof for the clinical treatment of IgAN. In summary, qi and yin deficiency accounted for the largest proportion in IgAN patients, and the treatment of IgAN should be based on supplementing qi and nourishing yin. Further, for patients with severe IgAN, the treatment combination of Chinese and Western medicines is better than pure Chinese medicine or hormone therapy. In addition, the pharmacological mechanism of Chinese herbal medicines is mostly based on restoring the immune function, relieving the inflammation damage, and inhibiting proliferation of the glomerular mesangial cells.
