Methods:Based on clarifying the meaning and significance of modern medical conditions treated by acupuncture,summarize the content and feature in each stage. Results:The development history contains three stage since 1994s:summary and quest of clinical experience,consult from expert advice,scientific and systematic review for devel-opment in theory. Conclusion:The study of modern medical conditions treated by acupuncture is a complex and systematic project,needs to be constantly improved as well. Abstract:In recent years competition among retailers has led to intense competition among supply chains. The rise of the Internet of Things provides a basis for retail enterprises to have detailed knowledge of their supply chain and hence to enhance its management. Using the Internet of Things, retail enterprises are able to increase the quality of their supply chain management, so as to offer a more intelligent and efficient service to consumers. In this paper, the authors briefly consider the Internet of Things and then the research status of the Internet of Things as applied to supply chain management. A supply chain analysis model is built under the Internet of Things environment using Jingdong Mall as a case study. The results show that the Internet of Things improved the quality of information available to Jingdong, enhanced its management efficiency and improved customers' satisfaction; it also reduced the cost of supply chain management whilst creating more new value. Finally, some problems encountered in the process of the application of the Internet of Things technology to Jingdong Mall are analyzed and corresponding solutions are proposed.

Abstract:As an important part of paediatric science, paediatric diagnosis was in the initial stage of its development before the Song Dynasty. The main measures of diagnosing diseases were observation and pulse palpation, especially the latter. The rapid development of paediatrics in the Song Dynasty necessitated thepaediatric diagnosis to develop further, emphasizing the spiritual expressions of the eyes and fingerprint, with its special features gradually developed in the period of the Jin and Yuan Dynasties.During this period, the paediatrics diagnosis was developed on the basis of the previous generations, with equal importance paid to both observation and pulse feeling. In the period of the Ming and Qing Dynasties the four paediatric diagnostics were constantly enriched with attentions paid to the use of multiple approaches and thus the diagnostics was perfected day by day.

Abstract:Handwritten prescriptions are based on the thorough understanding of diseases and accurate diagnosis of patients by ancient Chinese physicians. This article discusses the particularities of TCM handwritten prescriptions in different historical periods in China, which are crucial to the study of contemporary medicine and calligraphy and the treatment of TCM diseases with their unique writing styles. We aim at study and summarize the evolution of ancient Chinese manuscripts from a historical perspective. As the only way to record the experience of disease diagnosis and treatment, in-depth research on handwritten prescriptions can open up new fields of scientific research in traditional Chinese medicine, promote the wide application and dissemination of ancient Chinese calligraphy works around the world, and provide more opportunities for future generations of medical references. This paper mainly adopts the survey method, literature review method, data analysis method, comparative analysis method and inductive summary method to conduct research, and strive to make the research convincing. Traditional Chinese medicine formulas are the empirical data of generations of doctors in meticulous diagnosis, investigation, prescription, dialectical treatment, and are a precious medical case. TCM has a long history in China, and it is an important foundation for TCM to treat diseases because of its good medicinal calligraphy styles. In-depth research has the potential to open up new areas of scientific research in Chinese medicine and encourage the widespread adaptation and dissemination of ancient Chinese calligraphy works worldwide. Its widespread use increases the number of references available for future medicine.

Abstract:Through long-term observations and repeated practices of human body structure, anatomical knowledge in ancient China has gradually developed from the sprouting period when ancient Chinese hunted animals for survival, to anatomical exploration, which breaks the shackles of fear and religious rites. For example, Hua Tuo (华佗), a famous doctor in the period of The Three Kingdoms, did exquisite abdominal surgery; Yan Luozi (烟萝子), a Taoist priest in the period of The Five Dynasties, drew a map of human anatomy; Wang Weiyi (王唯一), a medical official in Northern Song dynasty, was responsible for casting acupuncture bronze figures, an anatomical mold for practicing acupuncture; Song Ci (宋慈), a forensic expert in Southern Song Dynasty, wrote Xi Yuan Ji Lu (《洗冤集录》 Collected Cases of Injustice Rectified ); Wang Qingren (王清任), a physician in Qing Dynasty wrote Yi Lin Gai Cuo (《医林改错》 Correction on Errors in Medical Works ). Ancient Chinese anatomy is far ahead of Western anatomy in understanding and describing human body structures. It has made great contributions to the emergence of Huang Di Nei Jing (《黄帝内经》 Huangdi's Internal Classic ) and laid a solid foundation for the establishment of visceral manifestation theory and meridian and collateral theory. Even now, it has served the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine and clinical practices. Anatomical knowledges, such as relevant operation records, books, Atlas, models in ancient China, especially the names of Zang-organ and Fu-organ, bones and five sense organs, are still used in modern anatomy and modern medicine, making indelible contributions to the development of modern anatomy in China.

Abstract:The hypothalamus is one of the master regulators of various physiological processes, including energy balance and nutrient metabolism. These regulatory functions are mediated by discrete hypothalamic regions that integrate metabolic sensing with neuroendocrine and neural controls of systemic physiology. Neurons and nonneuronal cells in these hypothalamic regions act supportively to execute metabolic regulations. Under conditions of brain and hypothalamic inflammation, which may result from overnutrition‐induced intracellular stresses or disease‐associated systemic inflammatory factors, extracellular and intracellular environments of hypothalamic cells are disrupted, leading to central metabolic dysregulations and various diseases. Recent research has begun to elucidate the effects of hypothalamic inflammation in causing diverse components of metabolic syndrome leading to diabetes and cardiovascular disease. These new understandings have provocatively expanded previous knowledge on the cachectic roles of brain inflammatory response in diseases, such as infections and cancers. This review describes the molecular and cellular characteristics of hypothalamic inflammation in metabolic syndrome and related diseases as opposed to cachectic diseases, and also discusses concepts and potential applications of inhibiting central/hypothalamic inflammation to treat nutritional diseases.

Abstract:The history of Chinese medicine is as long and legendary as that of the country itself. Its origins date back 3000 years [1]. Scientific knowledge and medical practice has gone through numerous stages. Between the 8th and 3rd centuries BC, China went through a period of great cultural and intellectual development called the “Hundred Schools of Thought” [2]. An attempt was made to seek the explanation of the phenomena of the universe in nature itself, leaving aside explanations based on magic and myths [2]. The new ideas discussed and developed during this period have profoundly influenced philosophical views and lifestyles up to the present day in East Asian countries. A fundamental milestone was the publication of “Huangdi Neijing“. Also known as the “Inner Canon of Huangdi“ or “Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor“, it is the earliest surviving work on Chinese medicine[3]. Its author, Emperor Huangdi, is not only considered the initiator of Chinese Traditional Medicine but also the father of Chinese civilization. Caring for the health of the population has been a priority in this country throughout the centuries. As a history lover, it is difficult for me to find another example of a nation embarking on an unequal war to defend its public health. This happened when the Western powers, led by the British Empire, sought to create opium addiction among the Chinese population in order to balance their trade balance by trafficking drugs [4]. These infamous conflicts went down in history as the “Opium Wars” and cost the lives of thousands of Chinese citizens. In the last decades, China’s healthcare system has made great achievements in the management of medical services and public health for the Chinese people[5]. Average life expectancy at birth was 35 years before the founding of new China, and it reached 77.0 years in 2018 [6]. The projected life expectancy at birth in mainland China in 2035 is 81,3 years [7]. On April 6, 2009, China presented an action plan to undertake a radical and ambitious reform of the health system [8]. The goal is to achieve universal health coverage. The history of shock waves in this country is a reflection of the described dynamism and historical background. The beginnings of its use in China can be traced back to the 1980s in the urological field. Prof. Xing Gengyan was the pioneer of indications in musculoskeletal pathology starting in 1993. Since that moment he has been a promoter not only of research and clinical applications, but also of medical education. In 2019, he organized in Beijing the largest international shock wave congress in history. It is a great honor that he has contributed to this issue by writing about the development of this therapeutic practice in China. In parallel with healthcare and academic development, the Chinese industry has risen to the occasion by providing high-quality devices. The content of this volume reflects not only the ability of our Chinese colleagues but also their openness to the world and their generosity in sharing information. Numerous universities and hospitals from different regions throughout China have collaborated selflessly. This could not have been accomplished without the monumental task of Dr. Sun Wei, our Guest Editor. Napoleon Bonaparte is credited with the phrase “China is a sleeping giant, when she wakes she will shake the world“. Two hundred years later the giant is awake and brimming with energy.

Abstract:In ancient china, four famous literatures, Huang Di Nei Jing, Nan Jing, Ben Cao, Shang Han Lun appeared, which made the foundation of oriental medicine. Huang Di Nei Jing, the book of acupuncture, is the most essential literature among these four litertures. So the question asking the identity of oriental medicine can be turned into the question about the identity of acupuncture. The investigation into origin will not be the only way to study of identity but one of the most attractive means. So we can answer with the study of origin to the question about identity. Acupuncture is comprised of theories like jing mai, qi xue and technical factors like moxibustion, bian which is like present operating knife. To trace the origin of acupuncture, we must investigate not only technical factors but also theories. But it will be impossible to trace every theories underlying the acupuncture in this small thesis. This is the reason that I restricted my attention to the principle of preventive medicine, regimen. Before the excavation of Mawangdui, the belief that acupuncture started long ago before Han period had been generally accepted. But there was not any proof proving the presence of acupuncture in the excavated literatures representing the Han period medicine. This fact announced that we must draw the time of establishment of acupuncture back after the Mawangdui literature buried in B.C. 168. But we can find the proof of the presence of acupuncture just before B.C. 168 in Shiji written by Si Mi Qian. Through these facts and inferences that we got until now, we can reach a conclusion that acupuncture would have appeared around 190-176 when Chun Yu Yi was practicing as a doctor. As you know, in the Mawangdui literature, what was associated with jing mai was moxibustion. But at the same time, moxibustion was being used just as the experience medicine technique without theory. So the moxibustion would has been about to be associated with jing mai theory in Mawangdui period. The word zhen jiu, the acupuncture and moxibustion, means there was a way to reconcile two techniques. It was by assuming bu and handing xie over to acupuncture that moxa can coexist with acupuncture. bian is used for infection treatment more than bloodletting tool in ancient china. but there is a bridge between acupuncture with bian. Acupuncture inherited its appearance from bian. It is generally believed that blood-letting is commonly developed in the classic east and west medicine. But the blood-letting could be harmonious with the old chinese belief that vitality must be retained in the body? No. The blood-letting is not generally practiced in ancient china. We can scarcely find the evidence of blood-letting in the ancient literature now in hand except Huang Di Nei Jing. Blood-Letting widened its territory in ancient chinese medicine with the help of the medical version of wuweierwubuwei principle which means 'not do anything, then everything does'. But soon lost its territory. Even in the Huang Di Nei Jing, We can find its disappearance. What is the reason? For its disharmony with chinese life idea, 'not lose essence'. Acupuncture replaced the blood-letting. It was the response of the ancient chinese healers to the regimen spirit and harmonious with chinese life view. Regimen spirit, the medical version of 'wuweierwubuwei' does not pursue cure after being ill but defense before disease. Acupuncture, meeting the demands of time, appeared in pre-han period as the association with jingmai theory which may be developed in regimen field, inheritence of moxa's esperience, and the shape of bian.

Abstract:In the most common research perspective, Korean pre-modern medical history has been explained as the ‘history of Chinese medicine’. If we approach medical care during the Koryo Dynasty from the perspective of the ‘history of Chinese medicine’, we can see that China was in the center and Korea was in the periphery. From this perspective of the center-periphery theory, it has been argued that ‘Chinese medicine’, which originated in China, always had an influence on the Koryo Dynasty, and that the scope and direction of its influence were comprehensive and one-sided. Therefore, this article specifically traced the exchange of medicinal materials, medical personnel, and medical knowledge between Koryo and Liao, Song, Jin, and Yuan. It was to confirm whether the perspective of the ‘history of Chinese medicine’ corresponds to the historical facts during the Koryo Dynasty. The available records show that the medical exchanges between Koryo and various Chinese countries were intermittent, not consistent. Moreover, the medical care method of one country was accepted selectively according to the needs of each country rather than as a whole. In addition, the flow of exchange developed in both directions, not in one direction. In other words, many countries in East Asia, including Koryo, were actors whose influences reached each other. It was not a structure in which the hypothetical political body called ‘China’ was always located in the ‘center’ and permanently supplied ‘Chinese medicine’ to Koryo while placing neighboring country in the ‘periphery.’ Therefore, the concept of ‘Chinese medicine’ does not have theoretical consistency, and it is insufficient to explain both the reality of pre-modern medical exchanges and the medical system of each country in East Asia. In order to fully explain the traditional medicine of East Asia, a new concept and a logical structure that go beyond the concept of ‘Chinese medicine’ are needed.
[A brief history of Chinese royal court medicines]

Abstract:With the establishment of an emperor and a royal court, the court physician came into being and the royal court medicines gradually began to evolve. In the first year of Kai Huang of the Sui dynasty (581), King Wendi of the Sui dynasty established the imperial medical bureau. Since then the royal court medicines entered a period of development and prosperity. In the Yuan dynasty, the scope of official duty of the imperial hospital narrowed, the development of royal court medicines lacked new growth. To the Ming and Qing dynasties, the royal court medicine began to decline and eventually ended with the demise of the Qing dynasty.

Abstract:It is believed that acupuncture science of Buddhist medicine has a long history and great characteristics after the investigation, research and analysis on the historic literature of acupuncture in Chinese Buddhist Canon. The writers tried to give the statements from 4 aspects. 1. Science of acupuncture in the time of Buddha. Firstly, the Buddhist acupuncture was mentioned in the time of Buddha, including substantial acupuncture, finger acupuncture and mental acupuncture. The substantial acupuncture refers to metal needle, plant needle, stone needle, bone needle, etc. Finger acupuncture means taking finger as a needle. Mental acupuncture implies that the Buddhism idea is considered in acupuncture. Secondly, the Buddhist medicine is the combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine. The needle box had become the necessity of the medical scholars in traveling. 2. Achievements of medical Buddhists in dynasties. In the paper, 33 medical Buddhists were listed, such as AN Shigao, YU Fakai, etc. They made the great contributions to the development of Buddhist medicine of acupuncture. 3. The characteristics of Buddhist acupuncture in clinical diagnosis and treatment. 1) The combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine and this mutual supplementation; 2) Mutual treatment of acupuncture and psychological therapy; 3) Remarkable therapeutic effects of specific acupuncture techniques, such as Yan needling technique and acupotomy; 4) Medical cases of Buddhist acupuncture; and 5) Precaution of misdiagnosis and prevention of mistreatment. 4. The penetrating statement of acupuncture techniques by the Buddhists in dynasties. 1) The cause-effect theory is introduced in treatment and diagnosis by medical Buddhists. The effectiveness is achieved through causality system. 2) Cataract is treated with gold needle. 3) The medical master is not qualified if nothing to know on acupuncture. The authors believe that the substantial acupuncture techniques need to be further studied and the non-substantial one requests us to be perceived.

Abstract:Although acupuncture theory is a fundamental part of the Huangdi Neijing, the clinical application of the needle therapy in ancient China was always a limited one. From early times there have been warnings that acupuncture might do harm. In books like Zhang Zhongjing's Shanghanlun it plays only a marginal role. Among the 400 emperors in Chinese history, acupuncture was hardly ever applied. After Xu Dachun called acupuncture a "lost tradition" in 1757, the abolition of acupuncture and moxibustion from the Imperial Medical Academy in 1822 was a radical, but consequent act. When traditional Chinese medicine was revived after 1954, the "New Acupuncture" was completely different from what it had been in ancient China. The conclusion, however, is a positive one: The best time acupuncture ever had was not the Song dynasty or Yuan dynasty, but is now - and the future of acupuncture does not lie in old scripts, but in ourselves.

Abstract:During the Han and Tang Dynasties, the Khotan region was one of the main arteries of the Silk Road. Despite an influx of foreign medicine, Khotan's medical culture did not lose its indigenous character. In the course of the translation of foreign medical classics and introduction of foreign medical practices, local medicinal ingredients and customs were retained. At the same time, foreign cultures from India, Persia, the Central Plains and Tibet found their way into local medicine. For instance, with the spread of Mahayana Buddhism in the area, the medical knowledge of Ayurveda in the Brahman (Hindu) cultural system was introduced into and mingled with its Buddhist counterpart, to an even greater extent than in India. When Esoteric Buddhism became prevalent, it combined with local Khotan medicine and played an even more prominent role.

Abstract:IntroductionIn order to introduce the diabetology history in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including nomenclature, understanding, treatment, prevention, etc., our research specifically focused on ancient medical literature used in the evaluation of diabetes in TCM or wasting-thirst (xiao-ke).MethodologyThe history of wasting-thirst was classified into four periods: (1) the nomenclature of wasting-thirst; (2) the monograph of wasting-thirst; (3) the understandings of sweet urine and its extensive development; and (4) the integration of wasting-thirst and diabetes.ResultsBy mining and reviewing the literature in the 2000-year history of wasting-thirst, it is believed that TCM has a profound understanding of, and effective management on, diabetes and its complications. For period one, wasting-thirst was first recorded in The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine. For period two, it was elaborated in Treatise on Febrile and Miscellenous Disease, and its “pathology” was summarized as “three wasting-thirsts (upper, middle, lower)” from the perspectives of spatial locations of organs, which serves as a guide in clinical practice. For period three, a self-contained system, including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, nursing, and education, had been established. For period four, wasting-thirst was intimately integrated into diabetes in The Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine.DiscussionTraditional Chinese Medicine harbors a long history of treating wasting-thirst/diabetes. With its unique therapeutic approaches, TCM is an effective system of understanding and managing diabetes as proven by medical literatures, clinical benefits and basic research studies.
