Abstract:The number of electronic devices connected to the power grid through power electronic interfaces, such as inverters or switch power supplies, has increased in recent years. The harmonics generated by power electronic interfaces cannot be avoided. However, existing load models are mainly used for transient electromechanical simulation and only describe the fundamental positive-sequence characteristics of loads without considering harmonics. For in-depth research on distribution networks or microgrids, the harmonic characteristics of loads need to be considered. This paper suggests a simplified power electronic interfaced load model that considers harmonics. The model consists of two parts, one of which characterizes the dynamics of the fundamental current considering the change in fundamental voltage, whereupon the load parameters are determined by analyzing the load's dynamic response to voltage variations. The other part generates output currents containing harmonics based on the effective value and initial phase relationships between the harmonics and fundamental wave obtained from the analysis of steady-state data. An experiment on an inverter air conditioner validates the applicability of the proposed model.

Abstract:Based on harmonic detecting and analysis of power distribution system of petrochemical enterprise,it shows that the main sources in the power distribution system of petrochemical enterprise are frequency converter,UPS and HID.Multiple technique,LC filter and active filter strategy were proposed to reduce harmonic component.Based on analysis of the relation between capacitor and harmonic component,the improved strategy of selecting resonant frequency of LC filter in the power distribution system of petrochemical enterprise was proposed.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the harmonic contents of a non-linear load connected to a two-phase microgrid system. Although having the same harmonic content as the single-phase power system when supplying a non-linear load under balanced conditions, the two-phase microgrid system presents the following advantages: 1) constant power through the power line at the balanced condition; 2) two voltages i.e., line-to-line and phase voltages, available by using a three wire system; 3) optimized voltage utilization compared to a three-phase system; and 4) a direct connection of both symmetrical two-phase and single-phase electrical machines. This paper presents an approach for analyzing the harmonics of a two-phase non-linear load in a balanced and unbalanced cases. The mathematical model for the symmetrical component of an unbalanced two-phase system has also been presented in this paper. Finally, a practical implementation of the two-phase system has been performed, where different types of loads are connected to the two-phase power line to test the voltage control performance.

Abstract:This paper proposes an Internal Model Principle (IMP) based Selective Harmonic Controller (SHC) for power converters. The proposed SHC offers an optimal control solution for power converters to mitigate power harmonics. It makes a good trade-off among cost, complexity and performance. It has high accuracy and fast transient response, and it is cost-effective, easy for real-time implementation, and compatible for design rules-of-thumb. An application on a three-phase PWM converter has confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme in terms of harmonic mitigation.

Abstract:Exactly decomposing the harmonic component is the precondition to power quality analysis.Fourier and wavelet transform are two types of most popular used method for power harmonic analysis.According to the characteristic of power harmonic which includes steady and momentary components,above two methods are integrated and applied to power harmonic analysis,comprenhensive algorithm of Fourier and wavelet transform is presented.It has many advantages compared with using FFT and wavelet transform respectively.The proposed method is validated by simulation.

Abstract:Modeling and Simulation is an effective way to predict the behaviors of Shipboard Integrated Power System (IPS). This paper presents the methods applying simulink blockset to building the models of twelve-phase synchronous machine and twelve-phase voltage-fed inverter, whereby the hybrid simulation method using SimPowerSystem blocks and Simulink models for the harmonic analysis of the IPS simulation is proposed. The results of the harmonic analysis of the system which is a system of the AC-DC-AC driving twelve-phase synchronous motor show that the convenient eleventh and thirteenth LC filters can improve deeply the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of line current in the AC source of system, and with the loads increased, the THD of the line voltage of the AC source is increased, on the contrary, the THD of the current of AC source is decreased.

Abstract:This paper proposes an internal model principle (IMP)-based optimal selective harmonic controller (SHC) for power converters to mitigate power harmonics. According to the harmonics distribution caused by power converters, a universal recursive SHC module is developed to deal with a featured group of power harmonics. The proposed optimal SHC (OSHC) is of hybrid structure: All recursive SHC modules with weighted gains are connected in parallel. It bridges the real “nk ±m order RC” and the complex “parallel structure RC”. Compared with other IMP-based control solutions, it offers an optimal tradeoff among the cost, complexity, and performance: high accuracy, fast transient response, easy implementation, cost effective, and also easy to design. The analysis and synthesis of the OSHC system are addressed. The proposed SHC offers power converters a tailor-made optimal control solution for compensating selected harmonic frequencies. Application examples of grid-connected inverters confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:This paper presents a novel power system harmonic and interharmonic analysis method based on S-transform and TT-transform. By using the spectral properties of diagonal elements of TT-transform and interpolation algorithm, the paper proposes a high precision measurement algorithm to detect steady harmonics and interharmonics, and solves the problem that the high frequency harmonics and interharmonics in power system is too less to detect. For dynamic harmonic and interharmonic analysis, the paper uses spectral analysis of diagonal elements of TT-transform to calculate frequency, amplitude and other parameters of each frequency component in signal, and accurately determines the beginning and ending time of each frequency component by analyzing the result of S-transform and detecting the amount of mutation of TT-series. Simulation results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method in steady, dynamic harmonic and interharmonic analysis.

Abstract:Voltage source converters (VSCs) have been extensively used in power systems for interfacing renewable energies and other modern loads. Because of their nonlinear nature, a proper harmonic model of VSC devices must be established when conducting harmonic analyses in power systems. This is especially true for low-order harmonics, which are routinely encountered in present power systems. To this end, an analytical harmonic model that represents the low-order harmonic characteristics of VSCs is developed in this paper. The new model takes both the control loop and power loop (i.e., DC-link capacitor) of the VSC into account through rigorous mathematical derivations. The final result has shown that the VSC can be represented by a harmonically coupled impedance matrix at harmonic frequencies, which can be easily used for harmonic analyses of large-scale power systems. It also shows that the DC-link capacitor has a more noticeable impact on the harmonic impedance of VSCs with a smaller DC-link capacitance and low-order harmonics. The appropriateness of the new model was verified using EMT simulations and lab experiments. A complete procedure to construct the proposed VSC model is also established based on the research findings.

Abstract:Research on harmonic of AC excited generator on power systems is carried out. At first a fine mathematic model of AC excited generator on power systems has been presented, considering AC excited generator, cycloconverter, reactor in rotor circuit, rectiformer and power system inductance etc. The factor influencing harmonic of AC excited generator on power systems is analysed. Simulation and experiment on an AC excited generator system are conducted, and the result shows that the model and analysis method presented are effective. The research points out measures of decreasing harmonic of AC excited generator system on power systems.

Abstract:A method for harmonic power flow in power system, which analyzes networks with discrete wavelet transform and then builds nodal voltage equilibrium equation for system simulation, is presented in this paper. Abstract:With the promotion of high voltage direct current system construction around the world, the series-connected multipulse rectifiers (SCMPRs) have been widely used in high-power rectifying occasions in the power system. Since the certain order of harmonics cannot be effectively eliminated under the nonideal conditions, many different phenomena, such as the unbalance of supply voltage and line/transformer parameters, the influence of background harmonics, and the nonequidistance of thyristor triggering pulses, may cause the noncharacteristic harmonics of SCMPR. However, the existing frequency-domain harmonic model cannot be used to analyze the harmonic characteristics of the SCMPRs under nonideal conditions. In this article, a general frequency-domain harmonic coupling matrix model (HCMM) is proposed. The proposed HCMM can consider most of the above imbalance factors and the model can explicitly illustrate the harmonic coupling relationship between the SCMPRs supplied voltage and the generated harmonic currents. The generality of the SCMPR model under nonideal conditions is improved accordingly. The HCMM is simplified by comparing and analyzing the effects of the transformer structure and parameters. Moreover, by analyzing the harmonic generation characteristic of the negative-sequence component, the HCMM can be further simplified. Finally, time-domain simulation and lab experimentation are performed to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the frequency-domain HCMM of SCMPRs. The results prove the generality of the proposed model and also illustrate the harmonic generating influence of unbalanced parameters from the transformer and supply voltage.

Abstract:With the rapid growing of the power electronic devices in the distributed grid, the impedance stability analysis has been paid more attentions, which is the main method of analyzing the oscillation stability of the power electronic system. The harmonic source, which comes from these power electronic devices, will influence the impedance measurement when the same frequency disturbance is injected. An improved impedance stability analysis method of the DC power electronic system considering the influence of power side harmonics is proposed in the paper. This method eliminates the impact of the harmonics by considering the initial inherent background harmonics of source side. The simulation results show the accuracy of impedance stability analysis criterion can be improved with the proposed method. And the stability misjudgment caused by inaccurate impedance characteristics, impacted by the harmonics, could be avoided.

Abstract:Voltage source converter (VSC) based devices have become widely accepted by the power industry in recent years as a result of renewable energy initiatives and other developments. Due to their nonlinear v∼i characteristics, it is essential to understand and model the harmonic impact of VSC devices in a power system. In response to such a need, this paper proposes a rigorous harmonic model of VSC devices suitable for harmonic power flow studies of large-scale power systems. Through detailed mathematical derivations, this research has shown that the model takes the form of a coupled frequency-dependent impedance matrix. Formulas to compute the impedance elements have been established. The results show that the impedance is independent of the harmonic voltages experienced by the VSC device, and thus it can be easily integrated into existing harmonic power flow tools. The accuracy of the model, as well as its usefulness for harmonic power flow studies, have been verified using EMT simulations.
