Abstract:Sufficient conditions in this paper are presented for the existence of periodic solutions of a second order totally nonlinear iterative differential equation. The equivalent integral equation of the given equation defines a fixed point mapping written as a sum of a large contraction and a compact map. Abstract:The issue of inheriting periodicity of an exact solution of a dynamic system by a difference scheme is considered. It is shown that some difference schemes (midpoint scheme, Kahan scheme) in some special cases provide approximate solutions of differential equations, which are periodic sequences. Such solutions are called periodic. A purely algebraic method for finding such solutions is developed. It is shown that midpoint scheme inherits periodicity not only in case of linear oscillator, but also in case of nonlinear oscillator, integrable into elliptic functions.

Abstract:Bulletin of Mathematical Sciences, Ahead of Print. Due to the essential difficulty of establishing an appropriate variational framework on a suitable working space, how to apply the critical point theory for showing the existence and multiplicity of periodic solutions of continuous-time difference equations remains a completely open problem. New ideas including gluing arguments are introduced in this work to overcome such a difficulty. This enables us to employ the critical point theory to construct uncountably many periodic solutions for a class of superlinear continuous-time difference equations without assuming symmetry properties on the nonlinear terms. The obtained solutions are piecewise differentiable in some cases, distinguishing continuous-time difference equations from ordinary differential equations qualitatively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time in the literature that the critical point theory has been used for such types of problems. Our work may open an avenue for studying discrete nonlinear systems with continuous time via the critical point theory.

Abstract:We construct stable periodic solutions for a simple form nonlinear delay differential equation (DDE) with a periodic coefficient. The equation involves one underlying nonlinearity with the multiplicative periodic coefficient. The well-known idea of reduction to interval maps is used in the case under consideration, when both the defining nonlinearity and the periodic coefficient are piece-wise constant functions. The stable periodic dynamics persist under a smoothing procedure in a small neighborhood of the discontinuity set. This work continues the research in recent paper [7] on stable periodic solutions of differential delay equations with periodic coefficients.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following Schrödinger-Poisson system where ε is a small parameter, , N ∈ [3, 6], and V ( x ) and K ( x ) are potential functions with different decay at infinity. We first prove the non-degeneracy of a radial low-energy solution. Moreover, by using the non-degenerate solution, we construct a new type of infinitely many solutions for the above system, which are called "dichotomous solutions", i.e., these solutions concentrate both in a bounded domain and near infinity.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of periodic (in time) solutions to an one-dimensional semilinear wave equation with $x$-dependent coefficients under various homogeneous boundary conditions. Such a model arises from the forced vibrations of a nonhomogeneous string and propagation of seismic waves in nonisotropic media. By combining variational methods with an approximation argument, we prove that there exist infinitely many periodic solutions whenever the period is a rational multiple of the length of the spatial interval. The proof is essentially based on the spectral properties of the wave operator with $x$-dependent coefficients.

Abstract:Firstly, we propose a concept of uniformly almost periodic functions on almost periodic time scales and investigate some basic properties of them. When time scale T = R or Z , our definition of the uniformly almost periodic functions is equivalent to the classical definitions of uniformly almost periodic functions and the uniformly almost periodic sequences, respectively. Then, based on these, we study the existence and uniqueness of almost periodic solutions and derive some fundamental conditions of admitting an exponential dichotomy to linear dynamic equations. Finally, as an application of our results, we study the existence of almost periodic solutions for an almost periodic nonlinear dynamic equations on time scales.

Abstract:In this paper, we are interested in the existence of multiple nontrivial $ T $-periodic solutions of the nonlinear second ordinary differential equation $ \ddot{x}+V_x(t, x) = 0 $ in $ N(\geq 1) $ dimensions. Using homological linking and morse theory, we get at least two critical points of the functional corresponding to our problem. And, we also prove that two critical points are different by critical groups. Then, we obtain there are at least two nontrivial $ T $-periodic solutions of the problem.
