Our results generalize some known results. Moreover, numerical stimulations are presented to illustrate applications of our major findings.

Abstract:In this paper, a nonperiodic discrete nonlinear equation with Jacobi operators is considered. By using the critical point theory, we establish some new sufficient conditions on the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions. Recent results are generalized and significantly improved. Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with a problem of periodic solution for a second order nonautonomous differential equation with a discontinuity line. Under two types of assumptions, we analyze the geometric properties of solutions respectively. Then by using a fixed point theorem, we obtain several existence criteria of periodic solutions, where the periodic solutions are crossing harmonic and subharmonic solutions.

Abstract:The present work mainly probes into the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions for a class of second-order neutral differential equations with multiple delays. Our approach is based on using Banach and Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorems as well as the Green's function method. Besides, two examples are exhibited to validate the effectiveness of our findings which complement and extend some relevant ones in the literature.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of periodic solutions for a class of semilinear second-order differential equations. The difficulty of traditional methods lies in a mass of detailed estimates. By applying the viscosity solutions method and the classical upper-lower solutions method, as well as the Leray-Schauder fixed point principle, we establish the existence of periodic solutions to the equation under some weaker conditions. Our result improves and generalizes many results on the ropes mechanics equations in the previous literature.

Abstract:Bulletin of Mathematical Sciences, Ahead of Print. Due to the essential difficulty of establishing an appropriate variational framework on a suitable working space, how to apply the critical point theory for showing the existence and multiplicity of periodic solutions of continuous-time difference equations remains a completely open problem. New ideas including gluing arguments are introduced in this work to overcome such a difficulty. This enables us to employ the critical point theory to construct uncountably many periodic solutions for a class of superlinear continuous-time difference equations without assuming symmetry properties on the nonlinear terms. The obtained solutions are piecewise differentiable in some cases, distinguishing continuous-time difference equations from ordinary differential equations qualitatively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time in the literature that the critical point theory has been used for such types of problems. Our work may open an avenue for studying discrete nonlinear systems with continuous time via the critical point theory.
