Abstract:The problems of D-stability and D-stabilization for linear discrete singular systems with state delay are addressed in this paper. By using the state augmentation technique, a necessary and sufficient D-stability condition and a sufficient D-stabilization condition for linear discrete singular time-delay systems are firstly proposed. Then, based on these conditions, quadratic D-stability and D-stabilization conditions for linear discrete singular time-delay systems with norm-bounded uncertainties and interval uncertainties are obtained, respectively. Both the D-stability and D-stabilization conditions are proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, illustrative examples show that the proposed conditions are effective to check the D-stability and to design the D-stabilizing controller for linear discrete singular time-delay systems.

Abstract:This paper presents a condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) for the quadratic stability of discrete-time interval 2-D systems. With Matlab, it is very convenient to solve this problem. Necessity shows that the condition is less conservative in some cases. The illustrative example shows that this method is effective to check the quadratic stability of discrete-time interval 2-D systems.

Abstract:The robust D stabilization problem is considered for singular systems with polytopic uncertainties in this paper. Both the derivative matrix E and the state matrix A are with uncertainties, under the assumption that the rank of matrix E is constant. Firstly, with the introduction of some free matrices, a new dilated LMI condition for the singular system to be D stable is proposed, based on which, the robust D stable problem is solved, and a sufficient condition for the closed system to be robust D stabilizable is obtained. The desired state feedback controller is given in an explicit expression. Numerical examples show the efficiency of the obtained approach.

Abstract:This study addresses the problems of finite-time (FT) stability and stabilisation for distributed parameter systems. First, the authors extend the concepts of FT stability and FT stabilisation to the distributed parameter systems. Then, sufficient conditions of the L 2-FT stability and W 1,2-FT stability for the distributed parameter systems are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Based on these sufficient conditions, the authors design the state feedback controllers which guarantee the closed-loop distributed parameter systems to be L 2-FT stable and W 1,2-FT stable, respectively. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the proposed results.

Abstract:The robust D stability analysis problem for a class of singular systems is considered in this paper. With the introduction of some free matrices, a new necessary and sufficient condition for a singular system to be D stable is proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). This result is extended to the singular systems with polytopic uncertainties and a sufficient condition is obtained for the uncertain singular systems to be robust D stable using the parameter-dependent Lyapunov function method. Abstract:The problem of the delay-dependant robust stability and stabilization is dealt with for a class of Lur'e singular system with state time-delays in this paper. The new concept of generalized robust quadratic stability and generalized robust quadratic stabilization is presented. Furthermore. the sufficient condition of the robust stability and stabilization is also proposed based on linear matrix inequalities. The synthesis problem addressed is to design a memory-less state feedback control law such that the resulting closed-loop system is regular, impulse free and asymptotically stable for all admissible uncertainties.

Abstract:The problem of robust stabilization for uncertain discrete singular time‐delay systems is investigated. The considered systems are subject to norm‐bounded parameter uncertainties and constant time delay. A linear matrix inequality (LMI) condition is proposed for a discrete singular time‐delay system to be regular, causal and stable. With this condition, the problems of robust stability and stabilization are solved. The obtained results are formulated in terms of strict LMIs. An explicit expression of the desired state‐feedback control law is also given, which involves no matrix decomposition. The proposed synthesis method is illustrated by a numerical example. Abstract:A procedure for designing a feedback control to asymptotically stabilize, with probability one, quasi-generalized Hamiltonian systems subject to stochastically parametric excitations is proposed. First, the motion equations of controlled systems are reduced to lower-dimensional averaged Ito stochastic differential equations by using the stochastic averaging method. Second, a dynamic programming equation for the averaged system with an appropriate performance index (with undetermined parameters in cost function) is established based on the dynamic programming principle, and the optimal control law is derived from a minimization condition with respect to control. Third, the Lyapunov function method is adopted to evaluate the stability boundary of asymptotic stability with probability one for the uncontrolled/controlled systems. Finally, the parameters in cost function are selected to guarantee the sufficient stability of the controlled systems. Numerical results for a nine-dimensional mathematical system and a three-dimensional practical system, which describes a structure including viscoelastic element, illustrate the effectiveness of the feedback control strategy, and stability domains can be obviously enlarged when imposing the feedback controls on the original systems.

Abstract:A procedure for designing a feedback control to asymptotically stabilize in probability a quasi non-integrable Hamiltonion system is proposed. First, an one-dimensional averaged Itô stochastic differential equation for controlled Hamiltonian is derived from given equations of motion of the system by using the stochastic averaging method for quasi non-integrable Hamiltonian systems. Second, a dynamical programming equation for an ergodic control problem with undetermined cost function is established based on the stochastic dynamical programming principle and solved to yield the optimal control law. Third, the asymptotic stability in probability of the system is analysed by examining the sample behaviors of the completely averaged Itô differential equation at its two boundaries. Finally, the cost function and the optimal control forces are determined by the requirement of stabilizing the system. Two examples are given to illustrate the application of the proposed procedure and the effect of control on the stability of the system.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of neutral stochastic differential systems with variable delays and give sufficient conditions to ensure that the zero solution is asymptotically stable in the mean square by means of a generalisation of Banach's contraction principle. These conditions do not require the boundedness of delays, nor do they ask for a fixed sign on the coefficient functions. The results are shown to improve the previous globally stable results derived in the literature.

Abstract:This present paper deals with the problem of stabilization and destabilization of nonlinear stochastic differential delay equations. The key techniques used in this paper are the LaSalle-type stability theorems, the nonnegative semimartingale convergence theorem, and the law of large numbers for martingales. The proposed results can be applied to study the stabilization and destabilization of more general nonlinear stochastic dynamical time-delay systems. Computer simulations are presented to illustrate our theory.

Abstract:We generalize the concepts of D-stability and additive D-stability of matrices. For this, we consider a family of unbounded regions defined in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (so-called LMI regions). We study the problem when the localization of a matrix spectrum in an unbounded LMI region is preserved under specific multiplicative and additive perturbations of the initial matrix. The most well-known particular cases of unbounded LMI regions (namely, conic sectors and shifted halfplanes) are considered. A new D-stability criterion as well as sufficient conditions for generalized D-stability are analyzed. Several applications of the developed theory to dynamical systems are shown.

Abstract:This paper deals with the delay-dependent stabilization problem for singular systems with Markovian jump parameters and time delays. A delay-dependent condition is established for the considered system to be regular, impulse free and stochastically stable. Based on the condition, a design algorithm of the desired state feedback controller which guarantees the resultant closed-loop system to be regular, impulse free and stochastically stable is proposed in terms of a set of strict linear matrix inequalities （LMIs）. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:Based on the method combining the techniques of the multiple Lyapunov function and stochastic generalized Lyapunov function,a necessary and sufficient condition is derived for discrete-time singular hybrid systems with the time-homogenous finite state Markov chain without using the restricted equivalent property of singular systems.The condition is given in terms of coupled generalized Lyapunov equations(CGLEs) such that the solution of the systems is stochastically stable.The equations can be solved by changing them into strict linear matrix inequalities(SLMIs).The result is extended to solve the stabilization problem and the design of a state-feedback controller.A numerical example shows the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:In this note, a sufficient condition is derived for the stability of a spatially invariant distributed dynamical system, based on the geometrical structure of the null space of a matrix polynomial. This condition is less conservative than the available computationally feasible criteria. Moreover, using the idea of parameter dependent linear matrix inequalities, a necessary and sufficient condition is obtained. Both of these two conditions are expressed by LMIs. While the necessity of the latter is lost if the degree of the related matrix polynomials is small, its conservativeness can be sequentially reduced.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of robust stabilization for linear discrete-time systems under non-linear perturbations. Without limitation to single-input systems and restriction on the structures of both the positive definite matrix and the corresponding variable, a new sufficient condition is presented which guarantees the stability of the closed-loop system and at the same time maximizes the bound on the non-linearity. In addition, our main result is extended to discrete time-delay systems. All the conditions are given within the framework of linear matrix inequalities. The effectiveness of the methods is illustrated with three examples.

Abstract:Many practical systems in physics, biology, engineering, and information science exhibit impulsive dynamical behaviors due to abrupt changes at certain instants during the dynamical processes. In this paper, stability analysis and stabilization synthesis problems are investigated for a class of hybrid dynamical systems which consisting of a family of linear constant subsystems and a rule that orchestrates the switching between them. Furthermore, there exist impulses at the switching instants. A switched quadratic Lyapunov function is introduced to check asymptotic stability of such systems. Two equivalent necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such a Lyapunov function are established, respectively. The conditions are in linear matrix inequality form and can be used to solve stabilization synthesis problem.
