Abstract:In this paper, we derive new sharp weighted Alexandrov-Fenchel and Minkowski inequalities for smooth, closed hypersurfaces under various convexity assumptions in Euclidean, spherical, and hyperbolic spaces. These inequalities extend classical results by incorporating weights given by convex, non-decreasing positive functions, which are otherwise arbitrary. Our approach gives rise to a broad family of geometric inequalities, as each convex, non-decreasing function yields a corresponding inequality, providing considerable flexibility.

Abstract:In this paper we first introduce quermassintegrals for free boundary hypersurfaces in the $(n+1)$-dimensional Euclidean unit ball. Then we solve some related isoperimetric type problems for convex free boundary hypersurfaces, which lead to new Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities. In particular, for $n=2$ we obtain a Minkowski-type inequality and for $n=3$ we obtain an optimal Willmore-type inequality. To prove these estimates, we employ a specifically designed locally constrained inverse harmonic mean curvature flow with free boundary.

Abstract:We consider the optimization problem $(P_{A})$ $\inf_{x\in X}\{f(x)+g(Ax)\}$ where $f$ and $g$ are proper convex functions defined on locally convex Hausdorff topological vector spaces $X$ and $Y$, respectively, and $A$ is a linear operator from $X$ to $Y$. By using the properties of the epigraph of the conjugated functions, some sufficient and necessary conditions for the strong Fenchel duality and the strong converse Fenchel duality of $(P_{A})$ are provided. Sufficient and necessary conditions for the stable Fenchel duality and for the total Fenchel duality are also derived.

Abstract:In this paper, we first derive a quantitative quermassintegral inequality for nearly spherical sets in $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}$ and $\mathbb{S}^{n+1}$, which is a generalization of the quantitative Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality proved in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ [22]. Then we use this method to derive the stability of some geometric inequalities involving weighted curvature integrals and quermassintegrals for nearly spherical sets in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ and $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}$.

Abstract:We consider the DC optimization problem (P)infx∈X{(f1(x)−f2(x))+(g1(Ax)−g2(Ax))}, where f1,f2,g1 and g2 are proper convex functions defined on locally convex Hausdorff topological vector spaces X and Y respectively, and A is a linear continuous operator from X to Y. Adopting the standard convexification technique, a Fenchel dual problem of (P) is given. By using properties of the epigraph of conjugate functions, some sufficient and necessary conditions for the Fenchel duality and for the stable Fenchel duality of (P) are provided.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide an affirmative answer to [16, Conjecture 1.5] on the Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality for quermassintegrals for convex capillary hypersurfaces in the Euclidean half-space. More generally, we establish a theory for capillary convex bodies in the half-space and prove a general Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality for mixed volumes of capillary convex bodies. The conjecture [16, Conjecture 1.5] follows as its consequence.

Abstract:For an inequality system defined by an infinite family of proper lower semicontinuous convex functions in normed linear space, we consider the Farkas-Minkowski (FM for short) type qualification and the basic constraint qualification (BCQ for short). By employing a new approach based on some new results established here on the SECQ (sum of epigraphs constraint qualification) for families of closed convex sets, some sufficient conditions involving further relaxing Slater type conditions for ensuring the FM qualification are provided. As applications, new sufficient conditions for ensuring the BCQ are given. These results significantly improve the corresponding ones in [C. Li and K. F. Ng, SIAM T. Optim., 15 (2005), pp. 488-512] and [C. Li, X. P. Zhao, and Y. H. Hu, SIAM J. Optim., 23 (2013), pp. 2208-2230], and they are obtained without the key continuity assumption on the sup-function of the inequality system which the previous works depend heavily on. Some examples are also presented to illustrate the applicability of our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish an Orlicz log-Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality by introducing new concepts of mixed volume measure and Orlicz multiple mixed volume measure, and using the Orlicz-Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality. The Orlicz log-Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality in special cases yield the classical Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality and Orlicz log-Minkowski type inequality, respectively.

Abstract:Describing the equality conditions of the Alexandrov--Fenchel inequality has been a major open problem for decades. We prove that in the case of convex polytopes, this description is not in the polynomial hierarchy unless the polynomial hierarchy collapses to a finite level. This is the first hardness result for the problem, and is a complexity counterpart of the recent result by Shenfeld and van Handel (arXiv:archive/201104059), which gave a geometric characterization of the equality conditions. The proof involves Stanley's order polytopes and employs poset theoretic technology.

Abstract:We prove the reversed Alexandrov–Fenchel inequality for mixed Monge–Ampère masses of plurisubharmonic functions, which generalizes a result of Demailly and Pham. As applications to convex geometry, this gives a complex analytic proof of the reversed Alexandrov–Fenchel inequality for mixed covolumes, which generalizes recent results in convex geometry of Kaveh–Khovanskii, Khovanskii–Timorin, Milman–Rotem and Schneider on reversed (or complemented) Brunn–Minkowski and Alexandrov–Fenchel inequalities. Also for toric plurisubharmonic functions in the Cegrell class, we confirm Demailly's conjecture on the convergence of higher Lelong numbers under the canonical approximation.

Abstract:The k-convex functions are the viscosity subsolutions to the fully nonlinear elliptic equations Fk[u]=0, where Fk[u] is the elementary symmetric function of order k of the eigenvalues of Hessian matrix D2u, k=1,…,n. For example, F1[u] is the Laplacian Δu and Fn[u] is the real Monge–Ampère operator detD2u, while 1-convex functions and n-convex functions are subharmonic and convex in the classical sense, respectively. In this paper, we generalize the method of pluripotential theory for complex Monge–Ampère operator to that for the k-Hessian operator to establish the Lelong–Jensen type formula for real k-convex functions, show the comparison theorem for the k-Hessian boundary measure and introduce the generalized Lelong number for k-convex functions. We also show a relationship between the k-Hessian boundary measure and the generalized Lelong number.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove an optimal Heintze-Karcher-type inequality for anisotropic free boundary hypersurfaces in general convex domains. The equality is achieved for anisotropic free boundary Wulff shapes in a convex cone. As applications, we prove various Alexandrov-type theorems.

Abstract:We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a given set of positive real numbers to be the dihedral angles of a hyperbolic n -simplex in this note. This answers a question of W. Fenchel raised in his book, Elementary Geometry in Hyperbolic Space, (De Gruyter, Berlin, 1989, p. 174) where he obtained some necessary conditions for which six numbers have to satisfy in order to be the dihedral angles of a hyperbolic tetrahedron. We also present a simple proof of the known necessary and sufficient condition for the dihedral angles of Euclidean n -simplexes.
