Abstract:An efficient single-frequency laser-diode pumped, continuous wave (CW) ring Nd laser emitting at 1064.4 nm is demonstrated. A composite crystal (Nd:YVO4/YVO4) with undoped ends is single end pumped by a fiber-coupled laser diode (LD) at 808 nm. A four-mirror ring cavity is deigned to keep the laser unidirectional operating, which eliminate spatial hole burning in standing-wave cavity. With the incident pump power of 31.5 W, the obtained output power is 13.6 W, with a slope efficiency of 52.6% and an optical efficiency of 43.2%. At the same time, a beam quality of M2 ~ 1.1 is found.

Abstract:Transition spectra in the 4F3/2-4I13/2 transition band of Nd:YVO4 crystal are too weak to form laser oscillation for the small stimulated emission cross section and strong parasitical oscillation, except for the 1342 nm wavelength. By adjusting the loss of the resonant cavity, 1386 nm continuous wave output from fiber coupled laser diode end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser is achieved, which reaches 305 mW with pump power of 4.24 W, and the slope efficiency is 13.9% with the highest output power. Continuous wave outputs of 1342 nm and 1386 nm are also observed in the experiment. The stimulated emission cross section of Nd:YVO4 crystal at the wavelength of 1386 nm is calculated as about (3 ± 1) × 10-19 cm2, according to the pumping threshold energy and experimental data.

Abstract:An efficient and high-power diode-laser single-end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser with cw emission at 1342nm is presented. With a crystal single-end-pumped by a fibre-coupled diode laser, an output power of 7.36 W is obtained from the laser cavity of concave-convex, corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 32.8%. The laser is operated in TEM00 mode with small rms noise amplitude of 0.3%. This represents, to the best of our knowledge, the highest power obtained from a diode-laser single-end-pumped Nd:YVO4 cw laser at 1342nm so far.

Abstract:A compact, high-power, and high-stability Nd:YVO4 laser at 1342 ran has been developed. As high as 11 W cw output for 35 W of incident pump power with a slope efficiency of about 31.4% has been obtained. It has been shown that a reasonable and effective way to improve the output power is to choose a pumping scheme that can effectively extend the range of the stable resonator region by choosing the optimal dopant concentration and length of the laser rod. Abstract:A frequency-stability and intracavity frequency-doubled ring Nd∶YVO_4/KTP laser end-pumped by a laser diode was designed and experimentally demonstrated.The laser was single-frequency operated by using a TGG,a Brewster polarizer,and a half-wave plate acted as optical diode in the cavity.Under the incident power of 9 W,the maximum green laser output is 1.1W,and conversion efficiency from light to light is 12.2%.Also,a passively Q-switched single-frequency laser in laser pulse duration of 100 ns and repetition rate of 21 kHz was achieved in a ring cavity by inserting a piece of Cr~(4+)∶YAG as an intracavity laser pulse saturable absorber.

Abstract:A diode pumped intracavity frequency-doubled Nd: YVO4 laser emitting at 671 nm with a type-II noncritical phase-matched LBO crystal is reported. A maximum output power at 671 nm of 404 mW was obtained under an incident pump power of 5.16 W, with an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency up to 7.8%. The output power fluctuates less than 5% while the temperature change of the LBO crystal is maintained at ± 0.5 °C at the phase-matched temperature.

Abstract:We design and demonstrate a thermally stable four-mirror discrete-component planar ring cavity for Q-switched laser output. An 880 nm fiber-coupled laser diode is used to pump a-cut Nd:YVO4 directly. A magnetic rotation glass (MR3-2) inserted into a permanent cylinder magnet, in combination with a half-wave plate and the polarized emission properties of Nd: YVO4, is used to obtain unidirectional laser operation. With this setup, for a pump power of 5 W, 2.75 W of continuous 1064 nm single-frequency laser output is obtained. Next, a Cr:YAG with small signal transmittance of 75% is inserted in between the two concave mirrors where the beam waist is located. Consequently, a passive Q-switching single-frequency linear polarization pulse with an average power of 1.02 W, pulse width of 60 ns, frequency of 21 kHz, peak power of 810 W, and single-pulse energy of 48 mu J is obtained. Further, we also propose a new method of using a Fabry-Perot (FP) scanning interferometer to observe high-repetition rate Q-switched pulse output longitudinal-mode signals. Abstract:High-power high-beam-quality 1.34 μm continuous-wave laser with twin Nd:YVO4 crystals pumped by four fiber-coupled laser diodes, which constructed a double-end-pumping structure, is reported. With total 60 W pumping power incident, the highest 16.4 W output laser power was generated, the slope efficiency and optical efficiency were measured as better than 30.0% and 27.3%, respectively. With 12 W laser output, the beam quality was measured to be better than two times diffraction-limit and the instability of laser output was determined to be better than 1% over an hour time.

Abstract:We experimentally demonstrate a monolithic single-frequency nonplanar ring oscillator (NPRO) laser pumped by diode lasers from a thermally excited ground level directly into a metastable level of Nd3+:YAG gain medium. Continuous-wave output power of 4.54 W is obtained at 1064 nm with 7.6 W input at 885 nm, and the slope efficiency is 76.9% at incident power above 2 W. Compared with the 50.7% slope efficiency obtained using 808 nm pumping for the same NPRO, this direct pumping shows a potential advantage in improving the energy efficiency. The observation is consistent with an analysis of the heat generation in both direct and traditional pumping schemes. The power fluctuation is measured to be within 0.8% at 3 W output during a 10 h period.

Abstract:A effective continuous-wave (CW), high power laser generated using a YVO4/Nd:YVO4 composite crystal is presented. 18.8 W output power in multi-mode has been achieved with a maximum absorbed pump power of 31.2 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 60.26%. In TEM00 mode operation, 15.1 W output power also has been achieved with the maximum absorbed pump power of 31.2 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 47.69%. With a 200 mm focal-length positive lens and using the moving knife-edge method, the beam quality factor is measured to be M2 = 1.2 for TEM00 mode beam.

Abstract:A maximum of 5.5 W of cw TEM00 mode output at 532 nm has been obtained by intracavity frequency doubling with a KTP crystal in an Nd: YVO4 laser doubly-pumped with 20 W diode pumping power. The optical-optical conversion efficiency is 27.5%. The influence of thermal lensing at high pumping power in the end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser is discussed. The Nd:YVO4 laser has a good power stability of 1.6%.

Abstract:We demonstrate a compact, efficient Nd:YVO(4) stable-unstable hybrid slab oscillator that was partially end pumped at 880 nm. A maximum output power of 165 W at 1064 nm was obtained with an optical-to-optical efficiency from absorbed pump power to laser output of up to 60% and a slope efficiency of up to 66%. The beam propagation factors M(2) were 1.7 in the stable direction and 1.4 in the unstable direction without sidelobes.

Abstract:Dual-wavelength laser is used in many fields,but there are few reports on the continuous wave(CW) lasing of dual-wavelength in a single laser crystal with high power output.Based on the theory of dual-wavelength,the optimal transmissivity of the cavity mirrors and the intracavity diffraction loss are got,in the four cavity mirror two cavities configuration,a dual-wavelength CW diode-side-pumped Nd∶YAG laser that generates simultaneously laser action at the wavelengths of(1064 nm) and(1319 nm) is demonstrated. The relationship between power ratio of the two wavelengths and cavity length is studied and an approach to suppressing the lasing of(1338 nm) is given.The CW dual-wavelength output power reaches as high as(45 W) when the average pump power is more than(500 W.) The output power of respective wavelength exceeds(20 W.) The beam qualities M~2 of(1064 nm) and(1319 nm) are 32 and 39,respectively.The output power instability of each wavelength is less than 5%.

Abstract:In this letter, a diode-pumped continuous-wave and passively Q-switched 1.06μm laser with a novel composite YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 crystal was demonstrated for the first time. Theoretical calculations showed that the temperature distribution in YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 crystal was lower than that in GdVO4/Nd:GdVO4 and Nd:GdVO4 crystals under the same conditions. After optimizing the mode matching degree, a CW output power of 5.6W of YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 laser was obtained at the incident pump power of 12W when the output coupler with transmission of 30% was employed. Using Cr4+:YAG crystals with initial transmission (T0) of 80% and 90% as saturable absorbers, the pulsed YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 laser characteristics were investigated. At the incident pump power of 12W, the maximum average output power of 2.76W and the maximum repetition rate of 189kHz was achieved when T0=90% Cr4+:YAG was used. The shortest pulse width was 28.1ns when the initial transmission of the used Cr4+:YAG was 80%.

Abstract:A high-efficiency, high-repetition-rate burst-mode 1064 nm laser under pulsed 878.6 nm laser diode pumping is demonstrated. Pulses at repetition rates ranging from 10 kHz to 100 kHz are produced during the time period of 1 ms pumping duration by using an acousto-optical Q-switch. The maximum pulse burst energy of 44 mJ at 10 kHz is obtained at the incident pump power of 108.5 mJ, yielding an optical-to-optical efficiency of 40.5%. The shortest pulse width at 10 kHz is 9.4 ns at the maximum pump energy of 108.5 mJ. The peak powers are estimated to be ~468.1 kW and 30.1 kW at 10 kHz and 100 kHz in the burst-mode oscillator.

Abstract:We report an efficient continuous-wave (CW) and passively Q-switched dual-wavelength Nd:LuLiF4 laser at 1314 and 1321 nm for the first time. Maximum CW output power of 6.08 W is obtained, giving an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 30.2% and a slope efficiency of 32.1%. Even using high doping V3+:YAG as the saturable absorber to passively Q-switch the laser, stable dual-wavelength operation remains. Maximum pulse energy extracted from the resonator is 108.7 μJ at 17.2 kHz pulse-repetition rate, and maximum peak power is 885 W.

Abstract:A novel end-pumped slab Nd:YVO4 laser with a multifolded quasi-concentric resonator (FCR) is reported. This planar-folded stable resonator matches the sheet-shaped pump volume with the TEM00 mode and yields highly efficiently laser operation with a good beam quality. In a prototype experiment, a 19.55-W output was achieved with a pump power of 45 W, which was single mode in one direction. In addition, the optical-to-optical efficiency reached 43.4%. After introducing a telescope system into the folding plane, a 10.23-W quasi-TEM00 output was obtained, and the overall efficiency was 22.7%.
