Abstract:In order to study the mechanism of flue gas elemental mercury adsorption of activated carbon and enhance its adsorbability, mercury adsorbabilities of three original activated carbons and their sulfurized products were tested under an atmosphere of nitrogen. Results show that adsorptions of activated carbon of coconut shell and apricot shell prepared by water vapor are mainly physisorption and their absorption efficiencies are low;whereas adsorption of wood-based active carbon prepared by zinc chloride chemical method is considered as chemisorption because of remnant chlorine element, and its absorption efficiency is fairly high.Mercury removal efficiencies are all improved after activated carbons are impregnated with sulfur at 200℃ and 600℃.With temperature rising in sulfurizing, their mercury adsorbability become better.
