Abstract:Crystals of the title compound, C9H9N 3O2S2, were obtained from a condensation reaction of S-methyl dithiocarbazate and 3-nitrobenzaldehyde. The planar dithiocarbazate moiety subtends an angle of 10.54 (8)° with respect to the plane of the nitrophenyl ring. Electron delocalization occurs between the imino and dithiocarboxyl groups. The partially overlapped arrangement of parallel benzene rings of neighboring molecules, with a face-to-face distance of 3.343 (8) Å, suggests the existence of π-π stacking. © 2005 International Union of Crystallography Printed in Great Britain - all rights reserved.

The planar dithiocarbazate unit is tilted with respect to the phenyl plane with a dihedral angle of 10.96 (12)°. Intermolecular N—H...S hydrogen bonding stabilizes the crystal structure. A C—H...π interaction is also observed in the crystal structure.

Abstract:The title compound, C25H18N4, crystallizes in the centrosymmetric ortho-rhom-bic space group Pbca, with eight mol-ecules in the unit cell. The main feature noticeable in the structure is the impact of the tri-cyano-vinyl (TCV) group in forcing partial planarity of the portion of the mol-ecule carrying the TCV group and directing the mol-ecular packing in the solid state, resulting in the formation of π-stacks of dimers within the unit cell. Short π-π stack closest atom-to-atom distances of 3.444 (15) Å are observed. Such motif patterns are favorable as they are thought to be conducive for better charge transport in organic semiconductors, which results in enhanced device performance. Intra-molecular charge transfer is evident from the shortening in the observed experimental bond lengths. The nitro-gen atoms (of the cyano groups) are involved in extensive short contacts, primarily through C-H⋯NC inter-actions with distances of 2.637 (17) Å.

Abstract:The title compound, C22H17NO2, was obtained by the photoreaction of N-methyl-1,8-naphthalenedicarboximide with 1-phenylpropyne. The planar cyclobutene ring makes a dihedral angle of 71.7 (2)degrees with the benzene ring of the 1,2-dihydronaphthalene group. There are intramolecular C-(HO)-O-... hydrogen bonds, and intermolecular C-(HO)-O-... interactions help to stabilize the crystal structure.
