Abstract:In this paper, we consider global adaptive control of nonlinearly parametrized systems in parametric-strict-feedback form. Unlike previous results, we do not require a priori bounds on the unknown parameters, which is as in the linear parametrization case. We also allow unknown parameters to be time-varying provided they are bounded. Our proposed adaptive controller is a switching type controller, in which the controller parameter is tuned in a switching manner via a switching logic. Global stability results of the closed-loop system have been proved.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the global controllability of a class of n -dimensional affine nonlinear systems with n – 1 controls and constant control matrix. A necessary and sufficient condition for its global controllability has been obtained by using the methods recently developed. Furthermore, we generalize the above result to a class of affine nonlinear systems with a block-triangular-like structure. Finally, we will give three examples to show the applications of our results.

Abstract:In this article, the problem of global asymptotic stabilisation of non-linear systems is considered. First of all, the global asymptotic stability of a class of non-linear systems is considered. It is proved that the class of non-linear systems is globally asymptotically stable under certain appropriate conditions. Secondly, based on the result obtained, the global asymptotic stabilisation of a class of non-linear systems is investigated, and the feedback control laws, which globally stabilise the class of systems, are designed. Thirdly, by the coordinate change and the results obtained, the global stabilisation of the affine non-linear systems are studied, and then some sufficient conditions of stabilisation are presented. Finally, the global asymptotic stabilisation of partially linear cascade non-linear system is considered. The sufficient conditions of global stabilisation are obtained, and the corresponding feedback control laws, which stabilise the non-linear systems, are designed. In addition, some examples are given to show the effectiveness of the new results.

Abstract:For 1-D linear hyperbolic systems with constant coefficients we introduce the asymptotic controllability and the asymptotic zero controllability in L-2 space under the lack of boundary controls and show the duality that they are equivalent, respectively, to the strong observability and the weak observability for the dual system. An example of 4 x 4 system with only one control is shown to be asymptotically controllable but not exactly controllable.

Abstract:This paper considers the problem of exact controllability of linear control systems with compact semigroup in non-reflexive state spaces and control spaces. The weak convergence of bounded sequence of control functions with respect to the subspace of the dual space is studied and a lemma for the weak convergence is proved. Based on the lemma and the strong separation theorem, a necessary and sufficient condition for exact controllability of compact semigroups with respect to the space consisting all essentially bounded measurable functions is obtained. An example of heat equation is presented to illustrate the utility of the result. Some related problems remaining for further study are addressed.

Abstract:One of failures of current dissipative theory is its inability to deal with pre specified time domain performance of systems. A new notation of dissipative is proposed for systems with constraints. Using this definition, the quantity analysis method is introduced to L 2 analysis. Finally constrained robust control for a class of nonlinear differential inclusion system is proposed, which is used in vehicle steering control. Taken account of the characteristic of vehicle dynamics, the results are described as some parametric conditions and linear matrix inequalities. Then a numerical example is discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel adaptive control strategy is presented for the tracking control of a class of multi-input-multioutput uncertain nonlinear systems with external disturbances to place user-defined time-varying constraints on the system state. Our contribution includes a step forward beyond the usual stabilization result to show that the states of the plant converge asymptotically, as well as remain within user-defined time-varying bounds. To achieve the new results, an error transformation technique is first established to generate an equivalent nonlinear system from the original one, whose asymptotic stability guarantees both the satisfaction of the time-varying restrictions and the asymptotic tracking performance of the original system. The uncertainties of the transformed system are overcome by an online neural network (NN) approximator, while the external disturbances and NN reconstruction error are compensated by the robust integral of the sign of the error signal. Via standard Lyapunov method, asymptotic tracking performance is theoretically guaranteed, and all the closed-loop signals are bounded. The requirement for a prior knowledge of bounds of uncertain terms is relaxed. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the merits of the proposed controller.

Abstract:In this paper,exact controllability and exact null controllability of infinite di- mensional linear systems are considered in non-reflexive state space and reflexive control space.For the systems governed by C-semigroups,the criteria for exact controllability and exact null controllability via controls in LP([O,T],U),1<p≤∞are obtained.For the sys- tems governed by C_0-semigroups,the authors also get a necessary and sufficient condition for exact null controllability via controls in L~P([O,T],U),1<p≤∞.Two applications are given to illustrate the abstract results.

Abstract:The control problem for a class of differential inclusion system with prespecified time domain performances of output was considered. The system may be converted to the nonlinear uncertain system with output constraints. Based on practical stability theory, the control problem of the system was analyzed. The design method of the nonlinear robust controller with specific time domain performance was given. The conditions of strongly practical robust stability for the system is to satisfy a series of parameter conditions and linear matrix inequalities. The simulation results have shown that the dynamic response of the closed loop system has reached time domain performance of the original design.

Abstract:In this paper, several different concepts of controllability are investigated for a class of linear singular systems which system parameters are piecewise constant. Necessary and sufficient geometric criteria for C-controllability and R-controllability of such systems are established, respectively. These conditions can be easily transformed into algebraic form. By applying the principle of duality, C-observability is discussed as well. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between these results and existing results are also discussed. Then, a novel necessary, and sufficient criterion for C-controllability of linear time-invariant singular systems is derived as a byproduct.

Abstract:This study explores the issue of adaptive stabilization for a class of high-order uncertain nonlinear systems with asymmetric output constraint and zero dynamics. By combining skillful Barrier Lyapunov Function (BLF) with the technique of continuous feedback domination equipped with a group of integral functions including nested sign functions, a continuous state feedback stabilizer is established, which guarantees that the closed-loop system's states converge to zero asymptotically while keeping the asymmetric output restriction inviolate. Superior to the existing methods, the developed strategy can not only simultaneously cope with the output asymmetric constraints and dynamic uncertainties, but also unifies the construction and theory analysis for the limited and unlimited output. At last, a numerical simulation is offered to verify the efficiency of the developed method.

Asymptotic Tracking Control of Uncertain MIMO Nonlinear Systems with Less Conservative Controllability Conditions

Abstract:For uncertain multiple inputs multi-outputs (MIMO) nonlinear systems, it is nontrivial to achieve asymptotic tracking, and most existing methods normally demand certain controllability conditions that are rather restrictive or even impractical if unexpected actuator faults are involved. In this note, we present a method capable of achieving zero-error steady-state tracking with less conservative (more practical) controllability condition. By incorporating a novel Nussbaum gain technique and some positive integrable function into the control design, we develop a robust adaptive asymptotic tracking control scheme for the system with time-varying control gain being unknown its magnitude and direction. By resorting to the existence of some feasible auxiliary matrix, the current state-of-art controllability condition is further relaxed, which enlarges the class of systems that can be considered in the proposed control scheme. All the closed-loop signals are ensured to be globally ultimately uniformly bounded. Moreover, such control methodology is further extended to the case involving intermittent actuator faults, with application to robotic systems. Finally, simulation studies are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness and flexibility of this method.

Abstract:We consider a linear discrete time-invariant control system with linear time-varying state feedback. Our main goal is to determine what types of asymptotic dynamics are possible for this system. We introduce and investigate certain discrete-time analogs for notions of global attainability, global Lyapunov reducibility, and global assignability of Lyapunov invariants currently known in continuous-time case. We prove that uniform complete controllability of the open-loop system is necessary for uniform global non-singular attainability of the closed-loop system, and is sufficient if the coefficients of the open-loop system are time-invariant. From here we demonstrate that if a given discrete-time linear time-invariant system is completely controllable, then, by choosing a suitable time-varying feedback, it is possible to yield a dynamic equivalence between the closed-loop system and an arbitrary discrete time-varying linear system which has a Lyapunov sequence as its coefficient matrix.

Abstract:Presents sufficient conditions under which a fairly large class of single-input nonlinear systems including feedforward systems and the well-known ball-and-beam model, are globally asymptotically and locally exponentially stabilizable by smooth state feedback. A nested saturation controller with the state-dependent saturation levels is constructed explicitly, using a novel design approach which combines the nested saturation strategy for marginally unstable linear systems subject to input saturation, with the low-gain design technique, developed for global asymptotic stabilization of general non-affine systems with marginally stable free dynamics. The power of the proposed low-gain design method is demonstrated by solving a number of nonlinear control problems, particularly, the global stabilization problem of a class of two-dimensional nonlinear systems
