Abstract:We prove several formulas related to Hodge theory and the Kodaira-Spencer-Kuranishi deformation theory of Kahler manifolds. As applications, we present a construction of globally convergent power series of integrable Beltrami differentials on Calabi-Yau manifolds and also a construction of global canonical family of holomorphic $(n,0)$-forms on the deformation spaces of Calabi-Yau manifolds. Similar constructions are also applied to the deformation spaces of compact Kahler manifolds.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of various harmonic maps from Hermitian manifolds to Kaehler, Hermitian and Riemannian manifolds respectively. By using refined Bochner formulas on Hermitian (possibly non-Kaehler) manifolds, we derive new rigidity results on Hermitian harmonic maps from compact Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds, and we also obtain the complex analyticity of pluri-harmonic maps from compact complex manifolds to compact Kaehler manifolds (and Riemannian manifolds) with non-degenerate curvatures, which are analogous to several fundamental results in [28,Siu], [14,Jost-Yau] and [26, Sampson].

Abstract:Given an arithmetic lattice of the unitary group U(3,1) arising from a hermitian form over a CM-field, we show that all unitary representations of U(3,1) with nonzero cohomology contribute to the cohomology of the attached arithmetic complex 3-manifold, at least when we pass to a finite-index subgroup of the given arithmetic lattice.

Abstract:In this article, we prove that a compact Kähler manifold M n with real analytic metric and with nonpositive sectional curvature must have its Kodaira dimension, its Ricci rank and the codimension of its Euclidean de Rham factor all equal to each other. In particular, M n is of general type if and only if it is without flat de Rham factor. By using a result of Lu and Yau, we also prove that for a compact Kähler surface M 2 with nonpositive sectional curvature, if M 2 is of general type, then it is Kobayashi hyperbolic.

Abstract:This is a continuation of our previous paper on settling the non-compact version of Calabi's conjecture on open manifold. In both these papers, open manifolds will mean quasiprojective manifolds M which can be written as MBAR\D. We are constructing complete Kahler metrics on M with either zero Ricci curvature or non-negative Ricci curvature. As was explained in the program outlined by the second author in the Congress in Helsinki, D is related to the zeroes of a section of K(MBAR)-1. In our previous paper [TY1], we dealt with the case when the multiplicity is equal to one. In this paper, we finish the case when the multiplicity is greater than one. We also allow orbifold type singularities in all these discussions. Our constructions include practically all known examples of complete Kahler manifolds with zero Ricci curvature of finite topological type. (It should be noted that M. Anderson, P. Kronheimer and Le Brun have recently constructed such examples with infinite topological type.) Besides constructing many new examples of such manifolds which may serve as gravitational instantons, these matrices provide a bridge between metric geometry and algebraic geometry of M because we do have some understanding of complete manifolds with non-negative curvature.

Abstract:Let M n be an n-dimensional complete noncompact oriented submanifold with finite total curvature, i.e., ${\int_M(|A|^2-n|H|^2)^{\frac n2} < \infty}$, in an (n + p)-dimensional simply connected space form N n+p(c) of constant curvature c, where |H| and |A|2 are the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form of M, respectively. We prove that if M satisfies one of the following: (i) n ≥ 3, c = 0 and ${\int_M|H|^n < \infty}$; (ii) n ≥ 5, c = −1 and ${|H| < 1-\frac{2}{\sqrt n}}$; (iii) n ≥ 3, c = 1 and |H| is bounded, then the dimension of the space of L 2 harmonic 1-forms on M is finite. Moreover, in the case of (i) or (ii), M must have finitely many ends.

Abstract: We investigate the collapsing geometry of hyperk\"ahler 4-manifolds. As applications we prove two well-known conjectures in the field. (1) Any collapsed limit of unit-diameter hyperk\"ahler metrics on the K3 manifold is isometric to one of the following: the quotient of a flat 3-torus by an involution, a singular special K\"ahler metric on the 2-sphere, or the unit interval. (2) Any complete hyperk\"ahler 4-manifold with finite energy (i.e., gravitational instanton) is asymptotic to a model end at infinity.

Abstract:The space H of "almost calibrated" (1, 1)-forms on a compact Kahler manifold plays an important role in the study of the deformed Hermitian Yang-Mills equation of mirror symmetry, as emphasized by recent work of Collins and Yau (2018), and is related by mirror symmetry to the space of positive Lagrangians studied by Solomon (2013, 2014). This paper initiates the study of the geometry of H. We show that H is an infinite-dimensional Riemannian manifold with nonpositive sectional curvature. In the hypercritical phase case we show that H has a well-defined metric structure, and that its completion is a CAT(0) geodesic metric space, and hence has an intrinsically defined ideal boundary. Finally, we show that in the hypercritical phase case H admits C-1,C-1 geodesics, improving a result of Collins and Yau (2018). Using results of Darvas and Lempert (2012) we show that this result is sharp.

Abstract:We prove that a compact Hermitian manifold with semi-positive but not identically zero holomorphic sectional curvature has Kodaira dimension $-\infty$. As applications, we show that Kodaira surfaces and hyperelliptic surfaces can not admit Hermitian metrics with semi-positive holomorphic sectional curvature although they have nef tangent bundles.

Abstract:In this work, we investigate compact Kähler manifolds with non-negative or quasi-positive mixed curvature coming from a linear combination of the Ricci and holomorphic sectional curvature, which covers various notions of curvature considered in the literature. Specifically, we prove a splitting theorem, analogous to the Cheeger-Gromoll splitting theorem, for complete Kähler manifolds with non-negative mixed curvature containing a line, and then establish a structure theorem for compact Kähler manifolds with non-negative mixed curvature. We also show that the Hodge numbers of compact Kähler manifolds with quasi-positive mixed curvature must vanish. Both results are based on the conformal perturbation method.

Abstract:We introduce new finite-dimensional cohomologies on symplectic manifolds. Each exhibits Lefschetz decomposition and contains a unique harmonic representative within each class. Associated with each cohomology is a primitive cohomology defined purely on the space of primitive forms. We identify the dual currents of lagrangians and more generally coisotropic submanifolds with elements of a primitive cohomology, which dualizes to a homology on coisotropic chains.

Abstract:We examine the class of compact Hermitian manifolds with constant holomorphic sectional curvature. Such manifolds are conjectured to be Kähler (hence a complex space form) when the constant is non-zero and Chern flat (hence a quotient of a complex Lie group) when the constant is zero. The conjecture is known in complex dimension two but open in higher dimensions. In this paper, we establish a partial solution in complex dimension three by proving that any compact Hermitian threefold with zero real bisectional curvature must be Chern flat. Real bisectional curvature is a curvature notion introduced by Xiaokui Yang and the second named author in 2019, generalizing holomorphic sectional curvature. It is equivalent to the latter in the Kähler case and is slightly stronger in general.
On the invariant and anti-invariant cohomologies of hypercomplex manifolds

Abstract:A hypercomplex structure $(I,J,K)$ on a manifold $M$ is said to be $C^\infty$-pure-and-full if the Dolbeault cohomology $H^{2,0}_{\partial}(M,I)$ is the direct sum of two natural subgroups called the $\bar{J}$-invariant and the $\bar{J}$-anti-invariant subgroups. We prove that a compact hypercomplex manifold that satisfies the quaternionic version of the $dd^c$-Lemma is $C^\infty$-pure-and-full. Moreover, we study the dimensions of the $\bar{J}$-invariant and the $\bar{J}$-anti-invariant subgroups, together with their analogue in the Bott-Chern cohomology. For instance, in real dimension 8, we characterize the existence of hyperkähler with torsion metrics in terms of the dimension of the $\bar{J}$-invariant subgroup. We also study the existence of special hypercomplex structures on almost abelian solvmanifolds.

Abstract:In this note, we continue the investigation of a projective Kähler manifold M of semi-negative holomorphic sectional curvature H. We introduce a new differential geometric numerical rank invariant which measures the number of linearly independent truly flat directions of H in the tangent spaces. We prove that this invariant is bounded above by the nef dimension and bounded below by the numerical Kodaira dimension of M. We also prove a splitting theorem for M in terms of the nef dimension and, under some additional hypotheses, in terms of the new rank invariant.
