Abstract:In this paper, a definition of the fundamental operator for the linear autonomous functional differential equation with infinite delay in a Banach space is given, and some sufficient and necessary conditions of the fundamental operator being exponentially stable in abstract phase spaces which satisfy some suitable hypotheses are obtained. Moreover, we discuss the relation between the exponential asymptotic stability of the zero solution of nonlinear functional differential equation with infinite delay in a Banach space and the exponential stability of the solution semigroup of the corresponding linear equation, and find that the exponential stability problem of the zero solution for the nonlinear equation can be discussed only in the exponentially fading memory phase space.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the solvability of the Cauchy problem for functional differential equations with infinite delay in a Banach space X, which are more general than those in many previous publications. We undertake our study under suitable hypotheses based on noncompactness measures and Kamke-type functions, and in a general setting of admissible phase space P including the space Lp((−∞,0],X). Therefore, our results extend and unify many existing results for finite and infinite delay equations. As a sample of possible applications, we analyze the solvability of the Cauchy problem for a Schrödinger-type partial functional integro-differential equation in L1(R).

We establish a new existence and uniqueness theorem about positive almost automorphic solutions of the delay integral equations. Abstract:Based on our preceding paper, this note is concerned with the exponential stability of the solution semigroup for the abstract linear autonomous functional differential equation x˙(t)=L(xt) (∗) where L is a continuous linear operator on some abstract phase space B into a Banach space E. We prove that the solution semigroup of (∗) is exponentially stable if and only if the fundamental operator (∗) is exponentially stable and the phase space B is an exponentially fading memory space.

Abstract:We obtain a new existence theorem for classical solutions to nonautonomous equations with nonlocal initial conditionsu′(t)=A(t)u(t)+f(t,u(t)),t∈(s,T],u(s)+g(u)=u0,in a Banach space X, where T>s⩾0, f,g are given X-valued functions, and A(t) is a sectorial operator (not necessarily densely defined) in X for each t∈[0,T]. Both Banach's contraction principle and Schauder's fixed point theorem, as well as the theory of evolution families and interpolation spaces, are employed in our approach. A concrete example is shown to illustrate the existence theorem.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the existence of positive almost automorphic solutions to some nonlinear delay integral equations. We first establish a new fixed point theorem for mixed monotone operator in a cone, and then, with its help, we obtain existence theorems of positive almost automorphic solutions. Some examples are given to illustrate our results. As one will see, even in the case of almost periodicity, our theorems extend some earlier results, and moreover, the approach dealing with the integral equation arising in an epidemic problem in this paper is also new.

Abstract:In this paper, by using the spectral theory of functions and properties of evolution semigroups, we establish conditions on the existence, and uniqueness of asymptotic 1-periodic solutions to a class of abstract differential equations with infinite delay of the form \begin{equation*} \frac{d u(t)}{d t}=A u(t)+L(u_t)+f(t) \end{equation*} where $A$ is the generator of a strongly continuous semigroup of linear operators, $L$ is a bounded linear operator from a phase space $\mathscr{B}$ to a Banach space $X$, $u_t$ is an element of $\mathscr{B}$ which is defined as $u_t(\theta)=u(t+\theta)$ for $\theta \leq 0$ and $f$ is asymptotic 1-periodic in the sense that $\lim\limits_{t \rightarrow \infty}(f(t+1)-$ $f(t))=0$. A Lotka-Volterra model with diffusion and infinite delay is considered to illustrate our results.

Abstract:By using the saddle point theorem, some new existence theorems are obtained for second-order Hamiltonian systems with impulsive effects in the cases when the gradient of the nonlinearity grows sublinearly and grows linearly respectively. Abstract:This paper is to investigate if the solution of a hybrid stochastic functional differential equation (SFDE) with infinite delay can be approximated by the solution of the corresponding hybrid SFDE with finite delay. A positive result is established for a large class of highly nonlinear hybrid SFDEs with infinite delay. Our new theory makes it possible to numerically approximate the solution of the hybrid SFDE with infinite delay, via the numerical solution of the corresponding hybrid SFDE with finite delay.

Abstract:Integral equations with infinite delay are considered as functional equations in a Banach space. Two types of Hyers–Ulam stability criteria are established. First, it is shown that a linear autonomous equation is Hyers–Ulam stable if and only if it has no characteristic value with zero real part. Second, it is proved that the Hyers–Ulam stability of a linear autonomous equation is preserved under sufficiently small nonlinear perturbations. The proofs are based on a recently developed decomposition theory of linear integral equations with infinite delay.

Abstract:In the present work we give some sufficient conditions to obtain a unique almost automorphic solution to abstract nonlinear integral equations which are simultaneously of advanced and delayed type and also a unique asymptotically almost automorphic mild solution to abstract integro-differential equations with nonlocal initial conditions, both situations are posed on Banach spaces. Also, we develop a Bohr-Neugebauer type result for the abstract integral equations. Before that, we introduce the notion of $\lambda$-bounded functions, develop the appropriate abstract theory and discuss the almost periodic situation. As applications, we study the existence of an asymptotically almost automorphic solution to integro-differential equations modeling heat conduction in materials with memory and also the existence of the almost automorphic solution to semilinear parabolic evolution equations with finite delay.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence of a periodic solution to the Cauchy problem for a class of impulsive differential equations with infinite delay in Banach spaces under general fading memory phase spaces satisfying a basic axiom. It is shown that the related Poincaré operator given by P(φ) = uT (φ) (i.e., T units along the unique solution u(φ) determined by the initial function φ ) is a condensing operator by virtue of the Kuratowski measure of non-compactness. Based on this result, we derive the existence of a periodic solution to the Cauchy problem with help of the boundedness of the solutions and three-set fixed point theorems. The main result in this paper extends the previous results for equations without impulsive conditions or in special Cg phase spaces. Finally, we give a remark on future developments of the related impulsive problems for fractional differential equations with infinite delay in Banach spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence of the asymptotically almost automorphic solution of the following type of abstract nonlinear integro-dynamic equation \begin{eqnarray*} y^{\Delta}(s) &=&Ay(s)+\mathcal{F}\left(s,y(s),\int\limits_{t_0}^{s}{\mathcal{H}(s,\tau,y(\tau))}\Delta\tau\right),~ s\in\mathbb{T}^k, y(0)&=&y_0 \end{eqnarray*} in the Banach space of continuous function on a time scale $\mathbb{T}$. We apply the Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem to show the existence of an almost automorphic solution of the above dynamic equation.

Abstract:In this paper, first, we give a definition of Besicovitch almost periodic functions by using the Bohr property and the Bochner property, respectively; study some basic properties of Besicovitch almost periodic functions, including composition theorem; and prove the equivalence of the Bohr definition and the Bochner definition. Then, using the contraction fixed point theorem, we study the existence and uniqueness of Besicovitch almost periodic solutions for a class of abstract semi-linear delay differential equations. Even if the equation we consider degenerates into ordinary differential equations, our result is new.
