Abstract:In this paper, we show a law of the iterated logarithm for range statistics with a long-range memory sample. With the help of this result, using R/S statistics, we give a test for long-range dependence.

Abstract:For the sequence of ρ˜-mixing identically distributed random variables, we show two general strong laws of large numbers (SLLNs) in which the coefficient of sum and the weight are both general functions, and as a consequence we obtain the Marcinkiewicz SLLN. Finally, we get a Chung type SLLN for ρ˜-mixing random variables.

Abstract:The asymptotic behavior of S-estimators in a random design linear model with long-range-dependent Gaussian errors is considered. It turns out that the S-estimators of regression parameter and error variance are strongly consistent under mild conditions. Furthermore, the asymptotic distribution of the S-estimator of regression parameter is normal if the design vectors are i.i.d. and is non-normal if the design vectors are long-range dependent Gaussian vectors. We also show that the asymptotic distribution of S-estimator of the error variance is non-normal since the errors are long-range dependent.

Abstract:We establish strong invariance principles for sums of stationary ρ-mixing random variables with finite and infinite second moments under weaker mixing rates.Some earlier results are improved.As applications,some results of the law of the iterated logarithm with finite and infinite variance are obtained,also a conjecture raised by Shao in 1993 is solved.

Abstract:Limit theorems for non-additive probabilities or non-linear expectations are challenging issues which have attracted a lot of interest recently. The purpose of this paper is to study the strong law of large numbers and the law of the iterated logarithm for a sequence of random variables in a sub-linear expectation space under a concept of extended independence which is much weaker and easier to verify than the independence proposed by Peng [20]. We introduce a concept of extended negative dependence which is an extension of the kind of weak independence and the extended negative independence relative to classical probability that has appeared in the recent literature. Powerful tools such as moment inequality and Kolmogorov's exponential inequality are established for these kinds of extended negatively independent random variables, and these tools improve a lot upon those of Chen, Chen and Ng [1]. The strong law of large numbers and the law of iterated logarithm are also obtained by applying these inequalities.

Abstract:In this paper, by establishing a Borel–Cantelli lemma for a capacity which is not necessarily continuous, and a link between a sequence of independent random variables under the sub-linear expectation and a sequence of independent random variables on ℝ∞ under a probability, we give the sufficient and necessary conditions of the strong law of large numbers for independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation, and the sufficient and necessary conditions for the convergence of an infinite series of independent random variables, without the assumption on the continuity of the capacities. A purely probabilistic proof of a weak law of large numbers is also given.

Abstract:The sub-linear expectation space is a nonlinear expectation space having advantages of modeling the uncertainty of probability and distribution. In the sub-linear expectation space, we use capacity and sub-linear expectation to replace probability and expectation of classical probability theory. In this paper, the method of selecting subsequence is used to prove Marcinkiewicz’s strong law of large numbers under sub-linear expectation space. This result is a natural extension of the classical Marcinkiewicz’s strong law of large numbers to the case where the expectation is nonlinear. In addition, this paper also gives a theorem about convergence of a random series.

Abstract:The modified R / S statistic (MRS) and the local Whittle method (LWM) are used to analyze the long-range dependence on various indices of the Chinese stock markets. The MRS accepts the null hypothesis of no long-range dependence while the LWM rejects it. We also find that the long-range dependence phenomena presented in these markets depend on the time in which they are measured.
