Abstract:The Ribaucour transformations for flat Lagrangian submanifolds in C-n and CPn via loop group actions are given. As a consequence, the authors obtain a family of new flat Lagrangian submanifolds from a given one via a purely algebraic algorithm. Abstract:In this paper we investigate the differential geometry of 1-lightlike submanifolds in anti-de Sitter n-space as an application of the theory of Legendrian singularities. Based on some theory of lightlike submanifolds, we also introduce the notion of 1-lightlike horospherical Gauss curvature, which is important for us to study the singularities of 1-lightlike horospherical hypersurfaces. Moreover, we discuss the related geometric property of 1-lightlike horospherical hypersurfaces in anti-de Sitter n-space.

Abstract:In the present paper, it has been obtained that the fundamental group of n -dimensional Minkowski space with the time topology contains uncountably many copies of the additive group of integers and is not abelian. The result has been first proved for n = 2. Thereafter, it is extended to n > 2 by proving that loops nonhomotopic in M 2 continue to be nonhomotopic in M n using embedding of M 2 in M n as a retract through the projection map.

Let [math] be an [math]-dimensional oriented compact submanifold with constant normalized scalar curvature [math] in the space form [math]. Denote by [math] and [math] the mean curvature and the Ricci curvature of [math] respectively. By applying Cheng-Yau's self-adjoint operator, we first prove that if [math] is a hypersurface in a unit sphere, and [math], then [math] is totally umbilical. Furthermore, we investigate the submanifolds in [math] with flat normal bundle satisfying [math], and obtain a complete classification theorem.

Abstract:Let (M n ,g) be a n-dimensional compact hermitian manifold, with n > 2.(M, g) will be called projectively flat, if its curvature matrix is of the form 0 = a/ n , where a is a (1, l)-form.Note that any metric conformal to g would also be projectively flat.In §1, we shall classify such manifolds, and in §2, we will give an application which may be considered as a generalization to higher dimensions of the Bogomolov's Theorem on VIIQ surfaces.First of all, let us correct an error in our previous paper [L-Y-Z].We found this error after the paper was in print.On page 220, the vanishing of c^ and C2 does not imply that the Hermitian-Einstein metric h is flat, but only projectively flat, i.e., © = 0/2-So the argument there is incomplete.However, this gap can be easily fixed by applying the results of P. Gauduchon ([G]) and D. Abstract:In this paper, infinitesimal deformations of time-like surfaces are investigated in Minkowski 3-space R2,1. It is shown that some given deformations of the time-like surface can be described by 2+1 dimensional integrable systems. Abstract:In this paper, we give a classification of all compact Hermitian manifolds with flat Bismut connection. We show that the torsion tensor of such a manifold must be parallel, thus the universal cover of such a manifold is a Lie group equipped with a bi-invariant metric and a compatible left invariant complex structure. In particular, isosceles Hopf surfaces are the only Bismut flat compact non-Kähler surfaces, while central Calabi-Eckmann threefolds are the only simply-connected compact Bismut flat threefolds.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the isolation phenomena of Einstein manifolds from the viewpoint of submanifolds theory. First, for locally strongly convex Einstein affine hyperspheres we prove a rigidity theorem and as its direct consequence we establish a unified affine differential geometric characterization of the noncompact symmetric spaces E6(-26)/F-4 and SL(m, R)/SO(m), SL(m, C)/SU(m), SU*(2m)/Sp(m) for each m >= 3. Second and analogously, for Einstein Lagrangian minimal submanifolds of the complex projective space CPn(4) with constant holomorphic sectional curvature 4, we prove a similar rigidity theorem and as its direct consequence we establish a unified differential geometric characterization of the compact symmetric spaces E-6/F-4 and SU(m)/SO(m), SU(m), SU(2m)/Sp(m) for each m >= 3.

Abstract:Minkowski space, flat spacetime, with a distance measure in natural units of ds(2) = -dt(2) + dx(2) + dy(2) + dz(2), or equivalently, with spacetime metric diag (-1, + 1, + 1, + 1), is recognized as a fundamental arena for physics. The Poincare group, the set of all rigid spacetime rotations and translations, is the symmetry group of Minkowski space. The action of this group preserves the form of the spacetime metric. Each t = constant slice of each preferred coordinate system is flat. We show that there are also nontrivial non-singular representations of Minkowski space with complete flat slices. If the embedding of the flat slices decays appropriately at infinity, the only flat slices are the standard ones. However, if we remove the decay condition, we find non-trivial flat slices with non-vanishing extrinsic curvature. We write out explicitly the coordinate transformation to a frame with such slices.

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional submanifold in the simply connected space form F n+p (c) with c + H 2 > 0, where H is the mean curvature of M. We verify that if M n (n ≥ 3) is an oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature and its Ricci curvature satisfies Ric M ≥ (n − 2)(c + H 2), then M is either a totally umbilic sphere, a Clifford hypersurface in an (n + 1)-sphere with n = even, or ${\mathbb{C}P^{2} \left(\frac{4}{3}(c + H^{2})\right) {\rm in} S^{7} \left(\frac{1}{\sqrt{c + H^{2}}}\right)}$. In particular, if Ric M > (n − 2)(c + H 2), then M is a totally umbilic sphere. We then prove that if M n (n ≥ 4) is a compact submanifold in F n+p (c) with c ≥ 0, and if Ric M > (n − 2)(c + H 2), then M is homeomorphic to a sphere. It should be emphasized that our pinching conditions above are sharp. Finally, we obtain a differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds with positive Ricci curvature.

Abstract:From the Riemannian geometric point of view, one of the most fundamental problems in the study of Lagrangian submanifolds is the classiflcation of Lagrangian submanifolds with parallel second fundamental form. In 1980’s, H. Naitoh completely classifled the Lagrangian submanifolds with parallel second fundamental form and without Euclidean factor in complex projective space, by using the theory of Lie groups and symmetric spaces. He showed that such a submanifold is always locally symmetric and is one of the symmetric spaces: SO(k + 1)=SO(k)(k ‚ 2), SU(k)=SO(k)(k ‚ 3), SU(k)(k ‚ 3), SU(2k)=Sp(k)(k ‚ 3), E6=F4. In this paper, we completely classify the Lagrangian submanifolds in complex projective space with parallel second fundamental form by an elementary geometrical method. We prove that such a Lagrangian submanifold is either totally geodesic or the Calabi product of a point with a lower dimensional Lagrangian submanifold with parallel second fundamental form, or the Calabi product of two lower dimensional Lagrangian submanifolds with parallel second fundamental form, or one of the standard symmetric spaces: SU(k)=SO(k)(k ‚ 3), SU(k)(k ‚ 3), SU(2k)=Sp(k)(k ‚ 3), E6=F4. As the arguments are of a local nature, at the same time, due to the correspondence between C-parallel Lagrangian submanifolds in Sasakian space forms and parallel Lagrangian submanifolds in complex space forms, we can also give a complete classiflcation of all Cparallel submanifolds of S 2n+1 equipped with its standard Sasakian structure. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classiflcation: Primary 53B25; Secondary 53C42
