Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of anterior corneal refractive power derived from corneal topography after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), and to analyze the relationship between measured values and change of diopters. Methods: 233 eyes of 117 patients undergoing myopic LASIK were retrospectively reviewed. The postoperative SimK and EffRP values were measured by EyeSys Corneal Analysis System. The accuracy of postoperative SimK and EffRP were evaluated during estimating the actual corneal refractive power and the values were modified according to the change in diopters after surgery. Results: The SimK pos-op (38.51 ± 1.84 D) was significantly higher than the theoretic K (38.29 ± 2.34 D), and the EffRP post-op (38.24 ± 2.27 D) was slightly lower than the theoretic K (P = 0.556). The two measured values were correlated with the refractive changes induced by LASIK. SimK post-op and EffRP post-op overestimated the actual corneal power while the change of diopters increased. SimK correct was more accurate in estimating the actual corneal refractive power after modified by the change of diopter, and 74.7% of these values were within ± 1 D of theoretic K values. Conclusion: SimK and EffRP are inaccurate in estimating the anterior corneal refractive power after LASIK for myopia. Modifying these values according to the change of diopter may improve the accuracy of measurement.
