Abstract:The geometric characterizations of Lφ(μ)-averaging domains are studied by means of the Whitney cover. Then it is proved that Lφ(μ)-averaging domains are invariant under some mappings, such as k-quasic-isometrics mapping, Φ-quasi-isometrics mapping, etc.

Geometry of Complex Bounded Domains with Finite-Volume Quotients

Abstract:We first show that for a bounded pseudoconvex domain with a manifold quotient of finite-volume in the sense of Kahler-Einstein measure, the identity component of the automorphism group of this domain is semi-simple without compact factors. This partially answers an open question in [Fra95]. Then we apply this result in different settings to solve several open problems, for examples, (1). We prove that the automorphism group of the Griffiths domain [Gri71] in ℂ^2 is discrete. This gives a complete answer to an open question raised four decades ago. (2). We show that for a contractible HHR/USq complex manifold D with a finite-volume manifold quotient M, if D contains a one-parameter group of holomorphic automorphisms and the fundamental group of M is irreducible, then D is biholomorphic to a bounded symmetric domain. This theorem can be viewed as a finite-volume version of Nadel-Frankel's solution for the Kahzdan conjecture, which has been open for years. (3). We show that for a bounded convex domain D⊂ℂ^n of C^2-smooth boundary, if D has a finite-volume manifold quotient with an irreducible fundamental group, then D is biholomorphic to the unit ball in ℂ^n, which partially solves an old conjecture of Yau. For (2) and (3) above, if the complex dimension is equal to 2, more refined results will be provided.
Quasisymmetric Geometry of the Julia Sets of McMullen Maps

Abstract:We study the quasisymmetric geometry of the Julia sets of McMullen maps fλ(z) = zm + λ/zℓ, where λ ∈ ℂ {0} and ℓ and m are positive integers satisfying 1/ℓ+1/m < 1. If the free critical points of fλ are escaped to the infinity, we prove that the Julia set Jλ of fλ is quasisymmetrically equivalent to either a standard Cantor set, a standard Cantor set of circles or a round Sierpiński carpet (which is also standard in some sense). If the free critical points are not escaped, we give a suffcient condition on λ such that Jλ is a Sierpiński carpet and prove that most of them are quasisymmetrically equivalent to some round carpets. In particular, there exist infinitely renormalizable rational maps whose Julia sets are quasisymmetrically equivalent to the round carpets.
New method of averaging diffeomorphisms based on Jacobian determinant and curl vector

Abstract:Averaging diffeomorphisms is a challenging problem, and it has great applications in areas like medical image atlases. The simple Euclidean average can neither guarantee the averaged transformation is a diffeomorphism, nor get reasonable result when there is a local rotation. The goal of this paper is to propose a new approach to averaging diffeomorphisms based on the Jacobian determinant and the curl vector of the diffeomorphisms. Instead of averaging the diffeomorphisms directly, we average the Jacobian determinants and the curl vectors, and then construct a diffeomorphism based on the averaged Jacobian determinant and averaged curl vector as the average of diffeomorphisms. Numerical examples with convincible results are presented to demonstrate the method.

Abstract:An n-dimensional lambda-hypersurface X : M -> Rn+1 is the critical point of the weighted area functional integral(M) e(-1/4|X|2) d mu for weighted volume-preserving variations, which is also a generalization of the self-shrinking solution of the mean curvature flow. We first prove that if the L-n-norm of the second fundamental form of the lambda-hypersurface X : M -> Rn+1 with n >= 3 is less than an explicit positive constant K(n, lambda), then M is a hyperplane. Secondly, we show that if the L-n-norm of the trace-free second fundamental form of M with n >= 3 is less than an explicit positive constant D(n, lambda) and the mean curvature is suitably bounded, then M is a hyperplane. We also obtain similar results for lambda-surfaces in R-3 under L-4-curvature pinching conditions.

This framework encloses discrete harmonic, p -harmonic, -harmonic and the so-called game p -harmonic functions. Our approach provides an elementary alternative proof of the Liouville Theorem for positive p -harmonic functions on .

Abstract:In this paper, we show that the $L^2$-optimal condition implies the $L^2$-divisibility of $L^2$-integrable holomorphic functions. As an application, we offer a new characterization of bounded $L^2$-domains of holomorphy with null thin complements using the $L^2$-optimal condition, which appears to be advantageous in addressing a problem proposed by Deng-Ning-Wang. Through this characterization, we show that a domain in a Stein manifold with a null thin complement, admitting an exhaustion of complete Kähler domains, remains Stein. By the way, we construct an $L^2$-optimal domain that does not admit any complete Kähler metric.

Abstract:In this paper we study the mapping properties of the averaging operator over a variety given by a system of homogeneous equations over a finite field. We obtain optimal results on the averaging problems over two dimensional varieties whose elements are common solutions of diagonal homogeneous equations. The proof is based on a careful study of algebraic and geometric properties of such varieties. In particular, we show that they are not contained in any hyperplane and are complete intersections. We also address partial results on averaging problems over arbitrary dimensional homogeneous varieties which are smooth away from the origin.

Abstract:In this paper we prove a conjecture of Griffiths about vanishing of the zeroth cohomology groups of locally homogeneous vector bundles on compact quotients of non-classical period domains, and construct a new $G_\R$-invariant complex structure on any non-classical period domain $D=G_\R/V$ with $G_\R$ of Hermitian type. Various geometric and algebraic characterizations of non-classical period domains and several geometric applications on their compact quotients are deduced as consequences of our results.

Abstract:In [11, 12], Liu and the second author propose a definition of the quasi-local mass and prove its positivity. This is demonstrated through an inequality which in turn can be interpreted as a total mean curvature comparison theorem for isometric embeddings of a surface of positive Gaussian curvature. The Riemannian version corresponds to an earlier theorem of Shi and Tam [18]. In this article, we generalize such an inequality to the case when the Gaussian curvature of the surface is allowed to be negative. This is done by an isometric embedding into the hyperboloid in the Minkowski space and a future-directed time-like quasi-local energy-momentum is obtained.

Abstract:We establish $L^{p_1}(\mathbb R^d) \times \cdots \times L^{p_n}(\mathbb R^d) \rightarrow L^r(\mathbb R^d)$ bounds for spherical averaging operators $\mathcal A^n$ in dimensions $d \geq 2$ for indices $1\le p_1,\dots , p_n\le \infty$ and $\frac{1}{p_1}+\cdots +\frac{1}{p_n}=\frac{1}{r}$. We obtain this result by first showing that $\mathcal A^n$ maps $L^1 \times \cdots \times L^1 \rightarrow L^1$. Our result extends that in \cite{IPS2021} for the case of $n = 2$. We also obtain similar estimates for lacunary maximal spherical averages in the largest possible open region of indices.

Abstract:We study the mappings satisfying the so-called inverse Poletsky inequality. We consider mappings of the domains with quasiextreme distance, domains with locally quasiconformal boundary, and domains regular (in a sense of prime ends) onto the domains with locally quasiconformal boundary, regular domains, or domains that are locally Hölder equivalent to a half ball on their boundary. For these mappings, we prove their Hölder logarithmic continuity in a neighborhood of points of the boundary.

Abstract:Fields such as temperature, current density, and static electromagnetic fields in regions with no field sources are harmonic functions that satisfy the Laplace equation. Such functions on a sphere have a well-known mean value property. A new mean value property is derived for fields that are harmonic on an annular region, with the field sources enclosed by the inner boundary. Some examples are discussed.

Abstract:The combinatorial Mandelbrot set is a continuum in the plane, whose boundary is defined as the quotient space of the unit circle by an explicit equivalence relation. This equivalence relation was described by Douady (1984) and, separately, by Thurston (1985) who used quadratic invariant geolaminations as a major tool. We showed earlier that the combinatorial Mandelbrot set can be interpreted as a quotient of the space of all limit quadratic invariant geolaminations with the Hausdorff distance topology. In this paper, we describe two similar quotients. In the first case, the identifications are the same but the space is smaller than that used for the Mandelbrot set. The resulting quotient space is obtained from the Mandelbrot set by ıpinching" the transitions between adjacent hyperbolic components. In the second case we identify renormalizable geolaminations that can be ırenormalized" to the same hyperbolic geolamination while no two non-renormalizable geolaminations are identified.

Abstract:Given a closed, oriented Lagrangian submanifold $L$ in a Liouville domain $\overline{M}$, one can define a Maurer-Cartan element with respect to a certain $L_\infty$-structure on the string homology $\widehat{H}_\ast^{S^1}(\mathcal{L}L;\mathbb{R})$, completed with respect to the action filtration. When the first Gutt-Hutchings capacity of $\overline{M}$ is finite, and $L$ is a $K(\pi,1)$ space, it leads to interesting geometric implications. In particular, we show that $L$ bounds a non-constant pseudoholomorphic disc of Maslov index 2. This confirms a general form of Audin's conjecture and generalizes the works of Fukaya and Irie in the case of $\mathbb{C}^n$ to a wide class of Liouville manifolds. In particular, when $\dim_\mathbb{R}(\overline{M})=6$, every closed, orientable, prime Lagrangian 3-manifold $L\subset\overline{M}$ is diffeomorphic to a spherical space form, or $S^1\times\Sigma_g$, where $\Sigma_g$ is a closed oriented surface.

Arithmetic geometry of character varieties with regular monodromy, I

Abstract:We study character varieties arising as moduli of representations of an orientable surface group into a reductive group $G$. We first show that if $G/Z$ acts freely on the representation variety, then both the representation variety and the character variety are smooth and equidimensional. Next, we count points on a family of smooth character varieties; namely, those involving both regular semisimple and regular unipotent monodromy. In particular, we show that these varieties are polynomial count and obtain an explicit expression for their $E$-polynomials. Finally, by analysing the $E$-polynomial, we determine certain topological invariants of these varieties such as the Euler characteristic and the number of connected components. As an application, we give an example of a cohomologically rigid representation which is not physically rigid.

Abstract:The problem of random average sampling and reconstruction over multiply generated local quasi shift-invariant subspaces of mixed Lebesgue spaces in the setting of locally compact abelian groups is considered. The sampling inequalities as well as the reconstruction formulae are shown to hold with very high probability if the number of samples is taken to be sufficiently large.

We show that if H⊂l+⟦0,X1/2+ε⟧ for some l⩾0 , Da,H(X):=1|H|∑h∈Ha(h)∑m=1∞A(1,m)λ(rm+h)VmX≪F,g,εX1+ε|H|∥a∥2 for any ε>0 , and a similar bound holds when H⊃l+⟦0,X1/2+ε⟧ . This improves Sun's bound and generalizes it to an average with arbitrary weights a(h) . Moreover, we demonstrate how one can recover the factorizable moduli structure given by Jutila's variant of the circle method via studying a shifted sum with weighted average. This allows us to recover Munshi's bound on the shifted sum with a fixed shift without using Jutila's circle method.

Abstract:Given a complex-projective klt pair $(X, \Delta)$ with standard coefficients and such that $K_X + \Delta$ is ample, we determine necessary and sufficient conditions for the pair $(X, \Delta)$ to be uniformized by a bounded symmetric domain. As an application, we obtain characterizations of orbifold quotients of the polydisc and of the four classical irreducible bounded symmetric domains in terms of Miyaoka-Yau-type Chern equalities.
