Abstract:This paper addresses the issues of stability, L2-gain analysis and H∞ control for switched systems via multiple Lyapunov function methods. A concept of general Lyapunov-like functions is presented. A necessary and sufficient condition for stability of switched systems is given in terms of multiple generalized Lyapunov-like functions, which enables derivation of improved stability tests, an L2-gain characterization and a design method for stabilizing switching laws. A solution to the H∞ control problem for switched systems is also provided.

Abstract:The asymptotic stability and the switching strate gy are studied in this paper for discrete switched systems with time delay subsys tems. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, two different sufficient conditions ar e derived via LMI approach for the asymptotic stability under arbitrary switchin g. Furthermore, this paper develops the convex combination conditions for asympt otic stability of such systems and gives the way to choose switching strategy. T he simulation result proves the validity of the designed switching strategy.

Abstract:AbstractA concept of vector L"2-gain is presented for switched systems. Each subsystem does not necessarily have L"2-gain in the classic sense but is assumed to have individual L"2-gain during any time interval when the subsystem is active. Stability is derived from this vector L"2-gain under some constraints on inactive storage functions. Asymptotic stability is also achieved if in addition a small-time norm-observability property is imposed. A small-gain theorem for feedback switched systems with vector L"2-gain assured for each subsystem is established. The small-gain condition is given in terms of the L"2-gains of the coupled active subsystems and the changes of inactive storage functions. A switching law design method is also given to achieve vector L"2-gain.

Abstract:In this paper, we study stability and L"2-gain for a class of switched systems with time-varying delays. Sufficient conditions for exponential stability and weighted L"2-gain are developed for a class of switching signals with average dwell time. These conditions are delay-dependent and are given in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). As a special case of such switching signals, we can obtain exponential stability and normal L"2-gain under arbitrary switching signals. The state decay estimate is explicitly given. Two examples illustrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method.

Abstract:In this paper, problems of stability and L2-gain for switched systems with time-varying delay and disturbance input are studied. Some subsystems can be unstable. By using an average dwell time approach incorporated with a piece-wise Lyapunov functional, sufficient conditions for exponential stability and weighted L2-gain of such systems, where not all subsystems are stable, are obtained in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). It is shown that if the total activation time of stable subsystems is to some extent more than that of unstable subsystems, the exponential stability and weighted L2-gain of the whole systems are guaranteed under an average dwell time scheme.

Abstract:The stability analysis and L 2 ‐gain for a class of switched neutral systems with all unstable subsystems are investigated in this paper. By constructing the discretized multiple Lyapunov‐Krasovskii functional and resorting to the time‐driven switching signals, sufficient conditions for exponential stability and weighted L 2 ‐gain are developed for a class of switched neutral systems, where all subsystems are unstable. It should be pointed out that all the Lyapunov‐Krasovskii functional energies are allowed to increase during the running intervals of the active subsystems. Furthermore, all the conditions are formulated in forms of a set of linear matrix inequalities which can be easily solved by using the recently developed interior point method. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the problems of stability and $l_{1}$-gain performance analysis for discrete-time switched delay positive systems with stable and unstable subsystems. First, using a class of multiple copositive Lyapunov–Krasovskii function approach, sufficient stability conditions are proposed for the considered system with average dwell time switching. Then, based on the stability results, sufficient conditions that guarantee the system to have $l_{1}$-gain performance are developed. All the proposed conditions can be solved by LMI toolbox. Finally, we take an example to verify the effectiveness of the results.

Abstract:This article is concerned with the problem of stabilisation and L 2 -gain analysis for a class of switched non-linear systems with norm-bounded time-varying uncertainties. A system in this class is composed of two parts: an uncertain linear switched part and a non-linear part, which are also switched systems. When all the subsystems are stabilisable and have an L 2 -gain, the switched feedback control law and the switching law are designed respectively using average dwell-time method such that the corresponding closed-loop switched system is exponentially stable and achieves a weighted L 2 -gain.

Abstract:This paper considers the finite time stability and finite time boundedness problems for switched linear systems subject to L2 disturbances. Differently from the existing average dwell-time technique, state-dependent switching control strategy is used to design the switching rule, which does not require the switching instants to be known in advance. Sufficient conditions for the switched systems to be finite time stable and finite time bounded are derived; the occurrence of sliding motion will not destroy the stability with the proposed conditions. Moreover, L2-gain analysis problem is also considered. The proposed conditions are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Several examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:Robust stabilisation and L-2-gain analysis for a class of switched systems with actuator saturation are studied in this paper. The switching signal of the controllers lags behind that of the system modes, which leads to the asynchronous switching between the candidate controllers and the subsystems. By combining the piecewise Lyapunov function method with the convex hull technique, sufficient conditions in terms of LMIs for the solvability of the robust stabilisation and weighted L-2-gain problems are presented respectively under the dwell time scheme. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed results.

Abstract:Exponential stability and non-weighted L-2-gain are studied for switched neutral systems with unstable subsystems. Initially, a time scheduling strategy is introduced to formulate switching-signal-based multiple discontinuous Lyapunov functions. Multiple discontinuous Lyapunov functions can be applied to each subsystem, thereby relaxing the limitations of traditional Lyapunov functions. Meanwhile, mode-dependent average dwell times are utilised to design fast and slow switching signals, ensuring stability in switched neutral systems where the switching between unstable and stable subsystems is arbitrary. Moreover, in the presence of external disturbances, the non-weighted L-2-gain performance is discussed. Sufficient conditions are proposed to achieve the stability of switched neutral systems and non-weighted L-2-gain performance using the linear matrix inequality method. The validity of this study is ultimately demonstrated through simulation examples.

Abstract:The problems of robust stability and L-2 -gain analysis and synthesis for a class of uncertain discrete-time switched systems with time-delay are addressed. Based on the constructive use of an appropriate switched Lyapunov function, switched systems with convex-bounded parameter uncertainties in all system matrices are investigated to make the linear switched systems are uniform quadratic stability with an L-2 -gain smaller than a given constant level. System synthesis is to design switched feedback schemes, whether based on state-, output measurements or by using dynamic output feedback, to guarantee that the corresponding closed-loop system enjoys the uniform quadratic stability with an L-2 -gain smaller than a prescribed constant level. The example is proposed to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of those approaches.

Abstract:This paper uses a time-varying state feedback control method to investigate the global asymptotic stabilization issue of discrete-time switched systems with dwell-time constraints. A discrete dwell-time partitioning technique is proposed to design a time-varying Lyapunov function, which has a distinct characteristic that its value decreases at any time, even at each switching instant. Applying the partitioning technique and the time-varying control method, some new conditions with adjustable computational complexity are derived for stabilizing the discrete-time switched systems. Moreover, the extension to l2-gain computation is presented in the sequel. Four examples are provided to illustrate the merits of the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:In this paper, the analysis on stability and -gain is presented for switched systemswith unstable modes. To solve the problem, an improved mode-dependent average dwell time (MDADT) tradeoff switching method is developed by a time subsequence technique. Based on a general multiple discontinuous Lyapunov functions (MDLFs), stability conditions are acquired for switched nonlinear systems with unstable modes. Whereafter, the stability result is extended to the weighted -gain analysis for the system with external disturbance. Moreover, in light of the quadratic MDLFs, the stability and weighted -gain criteria are also presented for the liner systems under the obtained switching scheme. Due to the time subsequence technique, the proposed switching method is more convenient in practice. Particularly, under the switching scheme, the tighter bounds are provided for MDADT, and the MDADT on unstable modes is not restricted by upper bounds. Finally, numerical examples show that the proposed methods are effective.
