Abstract:The nonlinear Schrödinger equation with harmonic potential (NLSE) plays an important role in quantum mechanics, so the exact solutions of this equation is studied in this paper. The NLSE is transformed into the classical nonlinear Schrödinger equation by a new class of traveling wave transformation. Next, the problem of exact solutions is changed into the solutions of ordinary differential equation (ODE) by the method of undetermined function. Then, through low-order sub-ODE method and hyperbolic function method, we get two class of solutions of the ODEs. Finally, a series of new exact solutions of the NLSE are obtained. Meanwhile the related numerical simulations are presented.

Abstract:In this paper, a class of (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear generalized Schrödinger equation is studied. The exact expressions of the traveling wave solution and the optical soliton solution of the model are obtained by mathematical method. For the special soliton solutions, we use ansatz method to obtain specific bright and dark soliton solutions and their existence constraints. The dynamic behaviors of all kinds of exact solutions are discussed by numerical simulation. In addition, MI analysis was used to evaluate the stability of the equations.

Abstract:To construct exact analytical solutions of nonlinear evolution equations, an extended subequation rational expansion method is presented and used to construct solutions of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with varing dispersion, nonlinearity, and gain or absorption. As a result, many previous known results of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation can be recovered by means of some suitable selections of the arbitrary functions and arbitrary constants. With computer simulation, the properties of a new non-travelling wave soliton-like solutions with coefficient functions and some elliptic function solutions are shown by some figures.

Under certain structural conditions, the authors are able to provide a complete picture of how the nonlinear Schrödinger equations with combined nonlinearities interact in the given energy space. The method used in the paper is based upon the Morawetz estimates and perturbation principles.

Abstract:By symbolic computation and a direct method, this paper presents some exact analytical solutions of the one-dimensional generalized inhomogeneous higher-order nonlinear Schrodinger equation with variable coefficients, which include bright solitons, dark solitons, combined solitary wave solutions, dromions, dispersion-managed solitons, etc. The abundant structure of these solutions are shown by some interesting figures with computer simulation.

Abstract:We propose two simple ans(a)tze that allow us to obtain different analytical solutions for two generalized versions of the nonlinear Schr(o)dinger equation, such as the averaged dispersive-managed fiber system equation and the extended nonlinear Schr(o)dinger equation which describe the femtosecond pulse propagation in monomode optical fiber.Among these solutions we can find solitary wave and periodic wave solutions representing the propagation of different waveforms in nonlinear media.

Abstract:On the basis of symbolic computation a generalized sub-equation expansion method is presented for constructing some exact analytical solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations. To illustrate the validity of the method, we investigate the exact analytical solutions of the inhomogeneous high-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation (IHNLSE) including not only the group velocity dispersion, self-phase-modulation, but also various high-order effects, such as the third-order dispersion, self-steepening and self-frequency shift. As a result, a broad class of exact analytical solutions of the IHNLSE are obtained. From our results, many previous solutions of some nonlinear Schrödinger-type equations can be recovered by means of suitable selections of the arbitrary functions and arbitrary constants. With the aid of computer simulation, the abundant structure of bright and dark solitary wave solutions, combined-type solitary wave solutions, dispersion-managed solitary wave solutions, Jacobi elliptic function solutions and Weierstrass elliptic function solutions are shown by some figures.

Abstract:Schrödinger's equation and its variants play an important role in describing many well-known problems in disciplines such as mathematics and physics. Our main concern in this paper is to investigate some novel analytical solutions to a third-order generalized nonlinear Schrödinger's equation. This equation is used to model the motion of ultra-short pulses in optical fibers. The model also includes several arbitrary parameters that introduce several well-known nonlinear models as its special case. The main achievements of the paper are determined via two efficient methodologies based upon the modified generalized exponential rational function method and a logarithmic transformation approach. In order to better examine the results, three-dimensional diagrams obtained from analytical answers have been attached to the article. These diagrams are useful tools that facilitate a better description of the capabilities of this model. One of the advantages of the method used in this research over some other techniques is that it is possible to adapt the implemented algorithm to solve other complex new problems.

Abstract:By giving prior assumptions on the form of the solutions, we succeed to find several exact solutions for a higher-order nonlinear Schrodinger equation derived from one important model in the study of atmospheric and ocean dynamical systems. Our analytical solutions include bright and dark solitary waves, and periodical solutions, which can be used to explain atmospheric phenomena.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of positive solutions for a relativistic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with square-root nonlinearity. If N = 2, the existence and uniqueness of ground states for this equation was obtained by Colin [Adv. Differ. Equations 8, 1 (2003)]. In this paper, when N = 3, by modifying the original problem and proving some estimates, the existence of the positive solution uω(x) for this equation is obtained. In the meantime, uω(x) → 0 as ω → 0+. Moreover, using the same technique, the existence of positive solutions for more generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equations with square-root nonlinearity is also obtained.

Abstract:By using the solutions of an auxiliary elliptic equation, a direct algebraic method is proposed to construct the exact solutions of nonlinear Schrodinger type equations. It is shown that many exact periodic solutions of some nonlinear Schrodinger type equations are explicitly obtained with the aid of symbolic computation, including corresponding envelope solitary and shock wave solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a nonlocal nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NNLSE). The infinitesimal generator, symmetry group and similarity reductions are obtained by the aid of Lie group method. Subsequently, similarity solutions of NNLSE are derived from the reduction equations. Finally, the auxiliary function method gives some exact solutions. Results show that these solutions which we obtain can be used to study relating physical problems.

Abstract:The traveling wave solutions of the generalized nonlinear derivative Schrödinger equation and the high-order dispersive nonlinear Schrödinger equation are studied by using the approach of dynamical systems and the theory of bifurcations. With the aid of Maple, all bifurcations and phase portraits in the parametric space are obtained. All possible explicit parametric representations of the bounded traveling wave solutions (solitary wave solutions, kink and anti-kink wave solutions and periodic wave solutions) are given.

Abstract:Considering both effects of the s-wave scattering and the atom-atom interaction rather than only the effect of the s-wave scattering, we establish a nonlinear Schrodinger model for many-particle quantum systems and we prove the global existence of a solution to the model and obtain the expression of the solution. Furthermore, we show that the Hamilton energy and the total particle number both are conservative quantities.

Abstract:An extended subequation rational expansion method is presented and used to construct some exact analytical solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrodinger equation. From our results, many known solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrodinger equation can be recovered by means of some suitable selections of the arbitrary functions and arbitrary constants. With computer simulation, the properties of new non-travelling wave and coefficient function's soliton-like solutions, and elliptic solutions are demonstrated by some plots.

Abstract:In this paper, a generalized nonlinear Schrodinger (gNLS) equation with time-varying coefficients is analytically studied using its Lax representation and the associated Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem equipped with a symmetric scattering matrix in the Hermitian sense. First, Lax representation and the associated RH problem of the considered gNLS equation are established so that solution of the gNLS equation can be transformed into the associated RH problem. Secondly, using the solvability of unique solution of the established RH problem, time evolution laws of the scattering data reconstructing potential of the gNLS equation are determined. Finally, based on the determined time evolution laws of scattering data, the long-time asymptotic solution and N-soliton solution of the gNLS equation are obtained. In addition, some local spatial structures of the obtained one-soliton solution and two-soliton solution are shown in the figures. This paper shows that the RH method can be extended to nonlinear evolution models with variable coefficients, and the curve propagation of the obtained N-soliton solution in inhomogeneous media is controlled by the selection of variable-coefficient functions contained in the models.

Abstract:In this paper, by introducing some appropriate transformation and with the help of symbolic computation, we study exact travelling wave solutions for the high-order modified Boussinesq equation, a single nonlinear reaction-diffusion equation and a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation with nonlinear terms of any order by use of the extended-tanh method. Thus, some new exact travelling-wave solutions, which contain kink-shaped solitons, bell-shaped solitons, periodic solutions, combined formal solitons, rational solutions and singular solitons for these equations, are obtained.

Abstract:The generalised nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) of third order is investigated, which accepts one-hump embedded solitons in a single-parameter family. In this paper, we constructed analytical solutions in the form of solitary waves and solitons of third-order NLSE by employing the extended simple equation method and exp $$(-\Phi (\xi ))$$ -expansion method. In applied physics and engineering, the obtained exact solutions have important applications. The stability of the model is examined by employing modulational instability which verifies that all the achieved exact solutions are stable. The movements of exact solitons are also presented graphically, which assist the researchers to know the physical interpretation of this complex model. Several such types of problems arising in engineering and physics can be resolved by utilising these reliable, influential and effective methods.
