Abstract:We study the problem of finding complete conformal metrics determined by some symmetric function of the modified Schouten tensor on compact manifolds with boundary; which reduces to a Dirichlet problem. We prove the existence of the solution under some suitable conditions. In particular, we prove that every smooth compact n-dimensional manifold with boundary, with n >= 3, admits a complete Riemannian metric g whose Ricci curvature Ric(g) and scalar curvature R-g satisfydet(Ric(g) - R(g)g) = const.This result generalizes Aviles and McOwen's in the scalar curvature case.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the optimal transportation on Riemannian surfaces when the cost function is squared distance. The main ingredient is the verification of MTW condition. It is known that MTW condition holds if Gauss curvature is sufficiently close to $1$ in $C^{2}$ norm. In this paper we give an explicit condition on Gauss curvature such that MTW condition is satisfied.

Abstract:We study an analogue of the classical Bianchi-Darboux transformation for L-isothermic surfaces in Laguerre geometry, the Bianchi-Darboux transformation. We show how to construct the Bianchi-Darboux transforms of an L-isothermic surface by solving an integrable linear differential system. We then establish a permutability theorem for iterated Bianchi-Darboux transforms.

Abstract:For the n-dimensional integrable system with a twisted so(p,q) reduction, Darboux transformations given by Darboux matrices of degree 2 are constructed explicitly. These Darboux transformations are applied to the local isometric immersion of space forms with flat normal bundle and linearly independent curvature normals to give the explicit expression of the position vector. Some examples are given from the trivial solutions and standard imbedding T^n\to R^{2n}.

Abstract:This paper concerns (Lorentz-)Darboux transformations in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane $\mathbb{R}^{1,1}$. We use the Penrose diagram for conformal compactification and show some unique properties of Darboux transformations of spacelike curves in $\mathbb{R}^{1,1}$, especially with regard to singularities and blowup. Finally, we make some comments on Darboux transformation of type-changing curves.

Abstract:The basic theory on the conformal geometry of timelike surfaces in pseudo-Riemannian space forms is introduced, which is parallel to the classical framework of Burstall etc. for spacelike surfaces. Then we provide a discussion on the transforms of timelike $(\pm)-$isothermic surfaces (or real isothermic, complex isothermic surfaces), including $c-$ polar transforms, Darboux transforms and spectral transforms. The first main result is that $c-$polar transforms preserve timelike $(\pm)-$isothermic surfaces, which are generalizations of the classical Christoffel transforms. The next main result is that a Darboux pair of timelike isothermic surfaces can also be characterized as a Lorentzian $O(n-r+1,r+1)/O(n-r,r)\times O(1,1)-$type curved flat. Finally two permutability theorems of $c-$polar transforms are established.

Abstract:Using a common tangent vector field to a surface along a curve, in this study we discussed a new Darboux frame that we referred to as the rotation-minimizing Darboux frame (RMDF) in Minkowski 3-space. The parametric equation resulting from the RMDF frame for an imbricate-ruled surface was then provided. As a result, minimal (or maximal for timelike surfaces) ruled surfaces were derived, along with the necessary and sufficient criteria for imbricate-ruled surfaces to be developable. The surfaces also described the parameter curves of these surfaces' asymptotic, geodesic, and curvature lines. We also gave an example to emphasize the most significant results.

Abstract:In this paper we consider a method for obtaining isothermic surfaces based on the Ribaucour transformations. By applying the theory to the cylinder, we obtain two families of complete isothermic surfaces. In the first family we have bubbletons surfaces and surfaces with planar ends. In second family, we get Dupin surfaces. As an application, we provide new explicit solutions to the Calapso equation.

Abstract:Let $x:{\bf M}^m\rightarrow {\bf S}^{m+1}$ be a hypersurface in the (m+1)-dimensional unit sphere S m+1 without umbilics. Four basic invariants of x under the Möbius transformation group in S m+1 are a Riemannian metric g called Möbius metric, a 1-form Φ called Möbius form, a symmetric (0,2) tensor A called Blaschke tensor and symmetric (0,2) tensor B called Möbius second fundamental form. In this paper, we prove the following classification theorem: let $x:{\bf M}^m\rightarrow {\bf S}^{m+1}$ be a hypersurface, which satisfies (i) Φ≡0, (ii) A+λg+μB≡0 for some functions λ and μ, then λ and μ must be constant, and x is Möbius equivalent to either (i) a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in S m+1 ; or (ii) the pre-image of a stereographic projection of a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in the Euclidean space R m+1 ; or (iii) the image of the standard conformal map of a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in the (m+1)-dimensional hyperbolic space H m+1 . This result shows that one can use Möbius differential geometry to unify the three different classes of hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in S m+1 , R m+1 and H m+1 .
Bour's Theorem of Spacelike Surfaces in Minkowski 4--Space

Abstract:In this paper, we study on three kinds of spacelike helicoidal surfaces in Minkowski $4$--space. First, we give an isometry between such helicoidal surfaces and rotational surfaces which is a kind of generalization of Bour theorem in Minkowski $3$--space to Minkowski $4$--space. Then, we investigate geometric properties for such isometric surfaces having same Gauss map. By using these results, we give the parametrizations of isometric pair of surfaces. As a particular case, we examine the right helicoidal surfaces in view of Bour's theorem. Also, we present some examples by choosing the components of the profile curves and the parameters of the surfaces via Mathematica.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the relation between the G(m,n)(p,q)-system II and diagonalizable timelike immersions in R-p,R-m, where G(m,n)(p,q) = O(m + n, p + q)/O(m, p) x O(n, q) and 0 < m < n + q < m + p. Firstly, we construct p,q a dressing action of a simple element on the space of solutions of the G(m,n)(p,q) system. Afterwards, we show that it gives rise to Ribaucour transformations for a family of timelike submanifolds in R-p,R-m. Finally, as a main application, we study Darboux transformations for timelike isothermic surfaces in R-p,R-1 by using the G(1,1)(p,1) -system II.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider and resolve a geometric problem by using μ(z)-homeomorphic theory, which is the generalization of quasiconformal mappings. A sufficient condition is given such that aC1-two-real-dimensional connected orientable manifold with almost positive definite metric can be made into a Riemann surface by the method of isothermal coordinates. The result obtained here is actually a generalization of Chern’s work in 1955.

Abstract:In this study, we introduce Darboux slant ruled surfaces in the Euclidean 3-space which is defined by the property that the Darboux vector of orthonormel frame of ruled surface makes a constant angle with a fixed, non-zero direction. We obtain the characterizations of Darboux slant ruled surfaces regarding the conical curvature kappa and give the relations between Darboux slant ruled surfaces and some other slant ruled surfaces.

Abstract:By the study of the relations between Bonnet surfaces and isothermic surfaces, we obtain classification results of Bonnet surfaces in 3-dimensional space form R 3 (c) and of the spacelike Bonnet surfaces in indefinite space form R 1 3 (c), which generalize the results in Bobenko’s [ 1 ] and Peng-Lu’s [ 11 ]. It is remarkable that there exist always Bonnet surfaces which are not Weingarten surfaces, if the ambient space is not R 3 (c) for c ≥ 0.
