Abstract:Removal of NOx from combustion flue gas is an important issue and an urgent task. Removal of NOx (DeNOx) from flue gas with radical injection induced by corona discharge, was studied. The increase of the voltage decreased the NO concentration, the concentration of NO2 increased at low voltage but dropped as the voltage stepped up to a certain level. The DeNOx efficiency increased as the discharge voltage rose and reached the maximum of 70% when the voltage approached the breakdown voltage. The assumptive mechanism for NOx removal showed that the radicals formed in the discharge process converted the NO and NOx into acidic species. The calculated NOx concentrations were approximate to the experimental NOx concentrations at low voltage condition but lower than the experimental NOx concentrations at high voltage condition for the limitation of the measure equipment. The calculated values were larger than the experimental value at the same voltage because some of the radicals would be rapidly quenched before they react with NOx molecules and the quenched radicals were not considered in the calculation.
