Abstract:A mild and efficient method for the synthesis of 2,5-disubstituted chalcogenophenes is reported. This method involves two steps of reactions via one-pot approach by employing commercially available and cost-effective alkynes and element chalcogen. Further, by using LiNH2 as the promoter and DMSO/EtOH as the solvent, Cu-catalyzed Glaser coupling-cycloaddition processes are dramatically enhanced that a diverse range of chalcogenophenes can be obtained in good to excellent yields under mild conditions. Controlled experiments show that trisulfur radical anion (S3 & sdot;-) is the key intermediate and DMSO/EtOH serves as the hydrogen source, while alcohol may facilitate the transition state. The mild and highly efficient constructions of 2,5-disubstitued thiophenes, selenophenes and tellurophenes are achieved by using a one-pot, two-step protocol that combine Cu-catalyzed Glaser coupling with LiNH2-mediated cycloaddition. And the DMSO/EtOH mixture solvent is found to short the reaction time and improve the reaction yield by promoting the production of S3 & sdot;- and stabilizing the transition state.image

Abstract:We report a mild 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition protocol for the preparation of 3-aryl-5-phenylselenomethyl isoxazoles and isoxazolines regioselectively. The former was further reacted with LDA and electrophilic substrates followed by selenoxide syn-elimination to afford 3-aryl-5-E-substituted-ethenyl isoxazoles stereoselectively and the latter was subjected to a ‘two-step’ elimination to afford 3-aryl-5-methyl isoxazoles.

Abstract:An expeditious method to access 2-aminobenzoxazoles and 2-aminobenzothiazoles from various substituted 2-aminophenols and 2-aminothiophenols, respectively, with isoselenocyanates in a one pot procedure is reported. Elemental Se precipitates nearly quantitatively in the reaction without any deselenizing agent and it can be reused. A possible mechanism for the formation of the target products is proposed.

Abstract:An efficient one-pot procedure for the synthesis of 2-aminobenzimidazoles from isoselenocyanates and various substituted diamines is described. Precipitation of elemental selenium from the reaction mixture greatly simplifies the purification procedure and also allows it to be re-used for preparation of isoselenocyanates. A possible mechanism for the formation of 2-aminobenzimidazoles is proposed.

Abstract:Herein, a straightforward method for the synthesis of 2,5-disubstituted selenophenes via [2+2+1] cyclization of easily accessible terminal alkynes and elemental selenium has been developed. This reaction features high atom- and step-economy, excellent regioselectivity, good functional group tolerance and the use of stable and non-toxic selenium as a selenium source. A series of control experiments suggests that the reaction might undergo Glaser coupling reaction of two molecules of alkynes, followed by insertion of H2Se and subsequent cyclization. Moreover, the newly formed products can be further converted to diverse conjugated selenophene-based derivatives, demonstrating their potential applications in organic synthesis and materials science.

Abstract:An efficient copper-catalyzed regio- and chemoselective multicomponent reaction of 1,6-enynes, diselenides, DABCO center dot(SO2)(2) and cycloketone oxime esters is described. Under mild conditions, this protocol exhibits a broad substrate scope and high functional group compatibility, enabling rapid access to cyanoalkylsulfonylated pyrrolidines in moderate to good yields. This radical-triggered cyclization reaction allows the formation of four new bonds including the C-SO2, C-C and C-Se bonds in a single step. A plausible mechanism is proposed on the basis of control experiments, and a cyanoalkylsulfonyl radical species is involved during the reaction process.

Abstract:We have established a mild CuI-catalyzed selenylation of pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline derivatives in the presence of mCPBA (m-chloroperoxybenzoic acid) at ambient temperature. Corresponding organoselenides have been prepared readily in 53-92% yields. This process can also be expanded to the modification of pyrroles, azaindole, and indoles, delivering the desired heterocyclic selenides in moderate to good yields.

Abstract:The iron (ІІІ)‐promoted tandem cyclization of 1‐(2‐(allyloxy)aryl)‐1H‐indoles with diselenides has been developed for the preparation of seleno‐benzo[2,3][1,4]oxazepino[4,5‐a]indole derivatives. The investigation to determine the best reaction conditions indicated the use of 1‐(2‐(allyloxy)aryl)‐1H‐indoles (0.2 mmol) with diselenides (1.5 equiv) and iron(III) chloride (1.5 equiv) in acetonitrile at room temperature under air, and more than 40 examples were obtained. The reaction features access to selenized 7‐membered containing nitrogen‐oxygen heterocyclic skeleton, which also represents a 7‐exo‐trig cyclization process of 1‐(2‐((2‐methylallyl)oxy)aryl)‐1H‐indoles and diselenides.

This protocol involves palladium-catalyzed isocyanide insertion into the C(sp)-S bond, followed by TMSN3-involved CuI/Sc(OTf)3 catalyzed intermolecular cyclization. Abstract:A new electrophilic trifluoromethylselenolation reagent, N-trifluoromethylselenophthalimide (Phth-SeCF3), was developed. A strategy for the synthesis of 4-trifluoromethylselenolated isoxazoles through electrophilic trifluoromethylselenolation cyclization has been established by using Phth-SeCF3 as an electrophilic reagent. Moreover, this protocol has the features of broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and high yields.
