Abstract:A new dihydroflavone glycoside was isolated from the underground parts of Glycyrrhiza uralensis. Its structure was elucidated as 7-hydroxyl-4'-O-beta-D-(6"-O-alpha-hydroxylpropionyl) glucopyranosyl dihydroflavone by spectral methods.

Abstract:Using a medium pressure liquid chromatographic system, a new triterpene lactone named glyuranolide [3 beta, 22 alpha-dihydroxy-11-oxo-delta 12-oleanene-27 alpha-methoxy carbonyl-29-oic acid (29, 22 alpha-) lactone.] was isolated from the crude sapogenins of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. Its structure was elucidated by IR, UV, FAB-MS, and various NMR spectra (including NOE, BBD, INEPT, SR, COSY, NOESY etc.).

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents from the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis.Methods The chemical constituents in ethyl acetate fraction of 70% ethanol extract from the roots of G.uralensis were isolated and purified by chromatography on silica gel,polyamide,MCI,ODS,Sephadex LH-20 columns,and RP-HPLC.The structures were identified on the basis of physicochemical properties and spectral data analyses.Results Fourteen compounds were isolated and identified as 3,7-dimethyl licoflavonol(1),gancaonin I(2),licocoumarone(3),8-methylretusin(4),2′-hydroxyisolupalbigenin(5),isovestitol(6),dehydroglyasperin D(7),glycyrin(8),glycyrol(9),echinatin(10),licochalcone B(11),isoangustone A(12),gancaonin G(13),and 5,7,4′-trihydroxy-6,8-diisoprenylisoflavone(14).Conclusion Compound 1 is a new compound,and compounds 2—7 are isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Four flavonoids were isolated from the alcoholic extract of the leaves of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. (Leguminosae). On the basis of physicochemical properties and spectroscopic analysis their structures were elucidated as 3,5,7,3',4'-pentahydroxy-5'-isoprenylflavone(I), 3,6,7,3',4'-pentahydroxy-2'-isoprenylflavone(II) and 5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-5'-isoprenyl-flavonone(III) and quercetin-3,3'-dimethylether(IV). Compounds I, II and III are new compounds and named uralenol, neouralenol and uralenin respectively. Compound IV was found in this genus for the first time. Compound III was shown to be the major constituent in the leaves of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fishch.

Abstract:One new biflavonoid was isolated from the 60 % ethanol extract of the dried whole herbs of Selaginella uncinata (Desv.) Spring. On the basis of physio-chemical properties and spectral (mainly 1 D and 2 D NMR) data, the structure of the new biflavonoid was established as 2′′, 3′′-dihydrorobustaflavone 4′-methyl ether (4). Along with the new biflavonoid, three known compounds robustaflavone (1), robustaflavone 4′-methyl ether (2) and tetrahydrorobustaflavone (3), were isolated. Compounds 2 and 3 were isolated from Selaginella uncinata (Desv.) Spring for the first time.

Desv..On the basis of spectral data and chemical reaction,it was elucidated to be syringetin-3-O-beta-D-glucoside.Moreover,fourteen known compounds were isolated and identified as beta-sitosterol,stigmasterol,kaempferol,rhamnetin,ombuine,isorhamnetin,tamarixetin,kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-(6-O-p-coumaroyl)-glucosiole, isoquercitrin, D-3-O-methylinositol, 1-O-betalmethyl-glucoside,isoswertianolin,isorhamnetin-3-O-beta-D-rutinoside,and tyramine.These compounds were isolated for the first time from the aerial parts of A.pseudoalhagi.

Abstract:A new homoisoflavanone, (3 R)-5,7-dihydroxy-8-methyl-3-(2′-hydroxy-4′-methoxybenzyl)-chroman-4-one (1), was isolated from the 95% ethanol extract of the rhizomes of Polygonatum cyrtonema. The structure of 1 was determined by spectroscopic methods, especially 2D NMR techniques. Quantum chemical TD DFT calculations of the theoretical ECD spectrum of 1 allowed assignment of the absolute configuration as 3R.

Abstract:A new flavonoid, 7-hydroxyl-4′-O-β-d-(6″-O-α-hydroxylpropionyl)-glucopyranosyl dihydroflavone (1), together with 12 known flavonoids, has been isolated from the EtOAc fraction of the aqueous extract of Sini Tang. The structures of the compounds have been elucidated by spectral methods. The new compound comes from Glycyrriza uralensis Fisch., as determined by HPLC-ESI-MS.

Abstract:Thirteen known compounds friedelin (1), #beta#-sitosterol (2), 3#beta#-O-acetylursolic acid (3), Oleanolic acid (4), Ursolic acid (5), glaucocalyxin A (6), 2#alpha#-hydroxyursolic acid (7), 2#alpha#, 3#alpha#-dihydroxyursolic acid (8), ent-7#beta#, 14#alpha#, 15#beta#-trihydroxy-16-kauren-3-one (9), hyptadienic acid (10), qurcetin (11), #beta#-sitosteryl 3-O-#beta#-D-glucopyranoside (12), and fructose (13) were isolated from the aerial parts of Rabdosia Japonica (Burm. f.) Hara var. glaucocalyx (Maxim.) Hara, respectively. Among them, friedelin and 2#alpha#, 3#alpha#-dihydroxyursolic acid were obtained from the plant and hyptadienic acid was isolated from the genus Rabdosia for the first time.

Abstract:Four new 2'-hydroxyflavone glycosides, namely hydroxyflavone-2'-O-β-D-glucuronide (1), hydroxyflavone-2'-O-α-L-rhamnoside (2), hydroxyflavone-2'-O-β-D-glucoside (3), and hydroxyflavone-2'-O-4"-O-methyl-β-D-glucoside (4), were biosynthesized through microbial glycosylation using Streptomyces coeruleorubidus NRRL B-2569, Streptomyces toxytricini NRRL 15443, Escherichia coli BL21(DE3)/pWZ8, and Beauveria bassiana ATCC 7159, respectively. Compounds 1-4 were structurally characterized through extensive analysis of 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data. The water solubility of glycosylated products 1-4 were enhanced by 7 to 15 times compared to the substrate 2'-hydroxyflavone. Moreover, antioxidant assays revealed that compounds 1 and 2 exhibited stronger 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity than the substrate, decreasing the logIC50 by 68.7% and 80.7%, respectively. Therefore, this research provides several effective biocatalysts that can be used for structural modification of flavonoids for enhanced water solubility and biological activities.

Abstract:Thirteen new oleanane-type triterpenoid saponins, uralsaponins M-Y (1-13), and 15 known analogues (14-28) were isolated from the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. The structures of 1-13 were identified on the basis of extensive NMR and MS data analyses. The sugar residues were identified by gas chromatography and ion chromatography coupled with pulsed amperometric detection after hydrolysis. Saponins containing a galacturonic acid (1-3) or xylose (5) residue are reported from Glycyrrhiza species for the first time. Compounds 1, 7, 8, and 24 exhibited good inhibitory activities against the influenza virus A/WSN/33 (H1N1) in MDCK cells with IC50 values of 48.0, 42.7, 39.6, and 49.1 mu M, respectively, versus 45.6 mu M of the positive control oseltamivir phosphate. In addition, compounds 24 and 28 showed anti-HIV activities with IC50 values of 29.5 and 41.7 mu M, respectively.

Abstract:A new flavonoid, 8-(3-hydroxymethyl-2-butenyl)-5,7,2',4'-tetrahydroxyflavanone (1), along with seven known compounds, (2R)-3α,7,4'-Trihydroxy -5-methoxy-8-prenylflavanone (2), (2R)-3β,7,4'- Trihydroxy-5-methoxy-8-prenylflavanone (3), 3,7-dihydroxycoumarin (4), Shandougenines B (5), Specionin (6), Kushenol N (7) and Kushenol I (8) were isolated from the roots of Sophora flavescens. Among them, Compound 5 was isolated from Leguminous plants, and compounds 4 and 6 were isolated from Sophora flavescens for the first time. Their structures were elucidated by the aid of NMR, HRMS, HMBC and CD spectroscopic methods.

Abstract:Based on the stability results of Radix hedysari extract, an unstable compound was extracted using acidic methanol and purified by rapid chromatographic methods successfully from Radix hedysari for the first time guided by HPLC analysis. Its structure was identified as formononetin 7-O-β-D-(6"-O-malonyl)-glucopyranoside by spectroscopic analyses.

Abstract:Several kinds of column chromatography method were used to investigate the chemical constituents of the leaves of Lophatherum gracile. The structures of the isolated compounds were identified based on their physicochemical properties and spectral data. A new flavone C-glycoside was isolated and its structure was identified as 3'-methoxyl-luteolin 6-C-beta-D-galactopyranosiduronic acid (1 --> 2) -alpha-L-arabinopyranoside (1).

Abstract:A novel dimeric flavonol glycoside, Cynanflavoside A (1), together with six analogues, kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), quercetin-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-xylopyranoside (4), quercetin-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-xylopyranoside (5), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (6), and quercetin-3-O-galactoside (7) were isolated from the n-butyl alcohol extract of Cynanchum acutum subsp. sibiricum. Their structures were determined spectroscopically and compared with previously reported spectral data. All compounds were evaluated for their anti-complementary activity in vitro, and only compound 5 exhibited anti-complement effects with CH50 value of 0.33 mM.

Abstract:In the present study,a total of 11 compounds were isolated from the aerial parts of Glycyrrhiza uralensis,including two new compounds,glycyuralin Q (1) and glycyuralin R (2),and nine known compounds,including licoriphenone (3),orobol (4),trifoliol (5),7,2',4'-trihydroxy-5-methoxy-3-arylcoumarin (6),11-hydroxy-9(Z),12(Z)-octadecadienoic acid (7),11-hydroxy-9(E),12(E)-octadecadienoic acid (8),licoricone (9),glycyrin (10),and 2'-hydroxyformononetin (11).Structures of the new compounds were identified by 1D,2D NMR and HR-MS data analyses.Compounds 1,2 and 10 showed potent inhibitory activities against PTP1B,with IC50 values of 1.43,4.71 and 3.79 μM,respectively.Compounds 2,4 and 10 inhibited a-glucosidase with IC50 values of 13.61,11.13 and 17.48 μM,respectively.

Abstract:Our continuous phytochemical investigation of the twigs and leaves of Syzygium austroyunnanense has led to the isolation of two new phloroglucinol derivatives, austroyunone F ( 1 ) and austroyunone G ( 2 ). Their structures were determined via extensive spectroscopic data including NMR along with HR-ESI-MS. Compound 1 showed significant inhibitory activity with an IC 50 value of 2.64 μM against α-glucosidase.
