Abstract:Let H be a Hopf algebra over a base field. If H has an ℕ-filtration such that the associated graded ring is connected graded noetherian and has enough normal elements, then H is Gorenstein. This gives a partial solution to a question of Brown and Brown-Goodearl. As a consequence, every quotient Hopf algebra of a generic quantized coordinate ring of a connected semisimple Lie group is Auslander-Gorenstein and Cohen-Macaulay. The last statement answers a question of Goodearl-Zhang.
Homological Integral of Hopf Algebras

Abstract:The left and right homological integrals are introduced for a large class of infinite dimensional Hopf algebras. Using the homological integrals we prove a version of Maschke's theorem for infinite dimensional Hopf algebras. The generalization of Maschke's theorem and homological integrals are the keys to study noetherian regular Hopf algebras of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension one.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a structure theorem for connected graded Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic 0 by claiming the existence of a family of homogeneous generators and a total order on the index set that satisfy some desirable conditions. The approach to the structure theorem is constructive, based on the combinatorial properties of Lyndon words and the standard bracketing on words. As a surprising consequence of the structure theorem, we show that connected graded Hopf algebras of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension over a field of characteristic 0 are all iterated Hopf Ore extensions of the base field. In addition, some keystone facts of connected Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic 0 are observed as corollaries of the structure theorem, without the assumptions of having finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension (or affineness) on Hopf algebras or of that the base field is algebraically closed.

Abstract:Let k be an algebraically closed field. In 2007, D.-M. Lu, Q.-S. Wu, and J. J. Zhang asked the following question: Besides the group algebras kZ, kD and infinite dimensional prime Taft algebras, are there other noetherian a. ne prime regular Hopf algebras of GK-dimension 1? In this paper, we give a new one. Another problem posed by Lu, Wu, and Zhang can also be resolved by this example. Assuming H is a noetherian a. ne prime regular Hopf algebra of GK-dimension 1, we show that grH := circle plus s >= 0 J(iq)(s) /J(iq)(s+1), as a Hopf algebra, is isomorphic to an infinite dimensional prime Taft algebra. This gives a characterization of infinite dimensional prime Taft algebras.

Abstract:Let [Formula: see text] be a Hopf algebroid and [Formula: see text] a left [Formula: see text]-module algebra. In this paper, we mainly present the duality theorem for the smash product [Formula: see text], and making use of integral theory for Hopf algebroids, we investigate the stability of Gorenstein injective pre-envelopes and Gorenstein projective precovers between the category of [Formula: see text]-modules and the category of [Formula: see text]-modules. Moreover, we establish the relationship between Gorenstein global dimension of [Formula: see text] and that of [Formula: see text], and prove that [Formula: see text] has finite representation type, resp. is selfinjective, resp. is CM-finite [Formula: see text]-Gorenstein, if and only if [Formula: see text] has the same property under suitable conditions. As an application, we investigate the representation dimension of the lower triangular matrix Artin algebra [Formula: see text].

Abstract:The Auslander–Buchsbaum formula and Bass's theorem are proved for a class of nonlocal, noncommutative algebras (including certain affine PI Hopf algebras). We also show that each filtered noetherian affine PI Hopf algebra has finite injective dimension, which partially answers a question of Brown.

Abstract:We give a series of infinite dimensional noncommutative and noncocommutative pointed Hopf algebras, which are Artin-Schelter Gorenstein Hopf algebras with injective dimensions 3. Radford's Hopf algebra and Gelaki's Hopf algebra are homomorphic images of these Hopf algebras. We determine the irreducible representations of them. We describe the Grothendieck rings of them. We obtain that two non-isomorphic Hopf algebras could have isomorphic Grothendieck rings.

Abstract:In this paper, we classify all prime Hopf algebras H of GK-dimension one satisfying the following two conditions: 1) H has a 1-dimensional representation of order PI.deg(H) and 2) the invariant components of H with respect to this 1-dimensional representation are domains (see Section 2 for related definitions). As consequences, 1) a number of new Hopf algebras of GK-dimension one are found and some of them are not pointed, 2) we give a partial answer to a question posed in [12] and 3) the question (1.1) is solved.

Abstract:We develop a general theory of Hopf image of a Hopf algebra representation, with the associated concept of inner faithful representation, modelled on the notion of faithful representation of a discrete group. We study several examples, including group algebras, enveloping algebras of Lie algebras, pointed Hopf algebras, function algebras, twistings and cotwistings, and we present a Tannaka duality formulation of the notion of Hopf image.

Abstract:Let H be a finite-dimensional quasi-Hopf algebra. We show for each quotient quasibialgebra Q of H that Q is a quasi-Hopf algebra whose dimension divides the dimension of H. Quasi-Hopf algebras, introduced by V. Drinfeld, are a generalization of ordinary Hopf algebras that can be motivated most easily by looking at representation categories: The category of modules over a Hopf algebra is a monoidal category, with the module structure on the tensor product over the base field of two modules given by the diagonal action via comultiplication. One of the standard applications of the Nichols-Zoeller theorem is to investigate the structure of (semisimple) Hopf algebras by dimension counting: The dimension of a Hopf subalgebra has to divide the dimension of the large Hopf algebra, a version of the classical Lagrange theorem for finite groups. This can serve to narrow down the possible examples in classification attempts. The chapter shows that any quotient quasibialgebra of a finite-dimensional quasi-Hopf algebra is a quotient quasi-Hopf algebra itself.

Abstract:We describe a bigraded cocommutative Hopf algebra structure on the weight zero compactly supported rational cohomology of the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties. By relating the primitives for the coproduct to graph cohomology, we deduce that $\dim H^{2g+k}_c(\mathcal{A}_g)$ grows at least exponentially with $g$ for $k = 0$ and for all but finitely many positive integers $k$. Our proof relies on a new result of independent interest; we use a filtered variant of the Waldhausen construction to show that Quillen's spectral sequence abutting to the cohomology of $BK(\mathbb{Z})$ is a spectral sequence of Hopf algebras. From the same construction, we also deduce that $\dim H^{\binom{n}{2} - n - k}(\mathrm{SL}_n(\mathbb{Z}))$ grows at least exponentially with $n$, for $k = -1$ and for all but finitely many non-negative integers $k$.

Abstract:We present a rich source of Hopf algebras starting from a cofinite central extension of a Noetherian Hopf algebra and a subgroup of the algebraic group of characters of the central Hopf subalgebra. The construction is transparent from a Tannakian perspective. We determine when the new Hopf algebras are co-Frobenius, or cosemisimple, or Noetherian, or regular, or have finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension.

Abstract:Let H and its dual H * be finite dimensional semisimple Hopf algebras. In this paper, we firstly prove that the derived representation types of an algebra A and the crossed product algebra A # σ H are coincident. This is an improvement of the conclusion about representation type of an algebra in Li and Zhang [Sci China Ser A, 2006, 50: 1–13]. Secondly, we give the relationship between Gorenstein projective modules over A and that over A # σH . Then, using this result, it is proven that A is a finite dimensional CM-finite Gorenstein algebra if and only if so is A # σ H .

Abstract:The Hopf dual H ° of any Poisson Hopf algebra H is proved to be a co-Poisson Hopf algebra provided H is noetherian. Without noetherian assumption, unlike it is claimed in literature, the statement does not hold. It is proved that there is no nontrivial Poisson Hopf structure on the universal enveloping algebra of a non-abelian Lie algebra. So the polynomial Hopf algebra, viewed as the universal enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional abelian Lie algebra, is considered. The Poisson Hopf structures on polynomial Hopf algebras are exactly linear Poisson structures. The co-Poisson structures on polynomial Hopf algebras are characterized. Some correspondences between co-Poisson and Poisson structures are also established.

Abstract:Let H be a finite dimensional Hopf algebra and A be an algebra over a fixed field k. Firstly, it is proved that the left FP-projective dimension is invariant under cleft extensions when H is semisimple and A is left coherent. Secondly, using (co)induction functors, we study the relations between FP-projective dimensions in A#H-Mod and the counterparts in A(H)-Mod. Finally, we characterize the FP-projective preenvelopes (resp., precovers) under H*-extensions and cleft extensions, respectively.
The canonical dimension of modules for Iwasawa algebras

Abstract:Let F be a non-trivial finite extension of the p-adic numbers, and G be a compact p-adic Lie group whose Lie algebra is isomorphic to a split simple F-Lie algebra. We prove that the mod p Iwasawa algebra of G has no modules of canonical dimension one. One consequence is a new upper bound on the Krull dimension of the Iwasawa algebra. We also prove a canonical dimension-theoretic criterion for a mod p smooth admissible representation to be of finite length. Combining our results shows that any smooth admissible representation of $GL_n(F)$, with central character, has finite length if its dual has canonical dimension two.
