Abstract:As the most important design decision during conceptual design of structures,the selection of struc-tural form needs to be solved using the the ory of Soft Design and the methodologies of Soft Computing due to its features o f soft scientific decision making.The problem-solving model for selection of s tructural form includes three sub-models,that is,scheme generation,scheme evaluation and scheme decision-making.As to the scheme decision-making,th e choice of the optimal structural form belongs to the scope of Multiple Attribu te Decision Making.However,this type of problem cannot be effectively solved b y the traditional theories of Mul-tiple Criterion Decision Making in that the p reference information of the decision-makers and the attributes of structural s chemes are uncertain in nature.To overcome these difficulties,a fuzzy multiple attribute decision-making model for selection of structural form is built up i n this paper.A method of determining the fuzzy satis-faction degree matrix of the attributes of structural forms is put forward to effectively process the fu zzy informa-tion.To get over the shortcomings of determining the optimal prefe rred scheme directly through Euclid distance,a definition of the relative appro ach degree is presented,and a fuzzy multiple attribute decision-making process based on the relative approach degree and its solving procedure are proposed.T he decision making process of selecting the optimal structural form is shown by taking large-span spatial structures as an practical example.The results of th e engineering practice shown that the method proposed by this paper can effectiv ely solve the problem of the choice of the optimal structural form in the fuzzy environmen t.
