Abstract:The bandwidth of the fiber optic gyroscope is an important indicator of its frequency characteristics. When the environmental conditions is under high dynamic such as vibration and sharp turns, the measurement accuracy of fiber optic gyroscope is greatly affected due to the limitation of the frequency characteristics of fiber optic gyroscopes. And the traditional bandwidth measurement method is to record the angular vibration's amplitude and frequency of the turntable and the output of fiber optic gyroscope, and then use the least squares method to obtain the bandwidth of fiber optic gyroscope. However, the output frequency of the turntable's circular grating encoder is not high enough, usually less than 100Hz, which cannot reflect the more comprehensive dynamic performance of the fiber optic gyroscope. And the manual operation test is always cumbersome. All of these limits the further research on the dynamic performance of fiber optic gyroscope. Therefore, this paper proposes a fiber optic gyroscope bandwidth evaluation method based on laser Doppler measurement technology. Then, an adaptive modal decomposition algorithm is proposed, which can adaptively decompose complex nonlinear and non-stationary signals into multiple frequency components. Our system can realize high-frequency, high-precision and non-contact, which is of great significance to the research of the dynamic performance of the fiber optic gyroscope.

Abstract:The online analyzer based on Raman spectroscopy is introduced for using in process detection of methanol gasoline blending.The main machine of the online analyzer is placed in the remote operation room and connected with the field Raman probe via long optical fiber.By combining with advanced spectral data processing algorithm,the quality analysis of oil samples is conducted.The result of practical operation indicates that the analyzer continuously monitors methanol content in blended finished oil and features fast speed analysis,high accuracy and ease maintenance.The instrument replaces traditional offline detection method,and also provides enterprises with significant measure for stable and optimal production.

Abstract:A novel method for wine analysis based on sensor fusion technique is proposed in this paper. Our novel method is a trial of realizing an engineering model of the sensing and recognizing systems of humans that combines all features of artificial olfactory and artificial taste, i.e. ‘electronic nose’ and ‘electronic tongue’ for the classification of wine. Moreover, we improved a kind of fuzzy neural network for sensor information fusing. The results show that the above methods have the characteristics of better accuracy, convenience and efficiency.

Abstract:A rapid and label free aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) microfluid sensor was proposed and tested. The device was fabricated with hollow-core photonics crystal fiber infiltrated with the AFB1 solution. The autofluorescence emitting from the AFB1 molecules was detected. The sensor length was optimized. The AFB1 concentration was tested with a 4 cm long sensor. The best limit of detection was achieved as low as 1.34 ng/ml, which meets the test requirement of the national standards for AFB1 in food. The effectiveness of this sensor being applied in beer solution was also verified to be a little more sensitive than in aqueous solution. Compared with traditional AFB1 detection methods, the proposed single-ended device perfectly satisfies the demand of process control in alcoholic beverages manufacture.

Abstract:Fiber drop analysis is a new multi-analysis technology for measuring the physical and chemical properties of liquids. One parameter measured by the fiber drop analyzer is surface tension. Constant delivery mode is a conventional mode for surface tension measurement, in which the accuracy is mainly affected by the uncertainty in delivery speed. We present here an improved relative measurement method, in which a remnant drop model is used to analyze the surface tension. A "separating vibration" is used as an additional measurement, allowing us to reduce the error caused by the uncertainty in delivery speed. Experiment results show the capability of the improve method.

Abstract:Purpose Flow measurement plays an important role in modern industrial production. Flow measurement methods based on optical fiber systems have become a main research focus. Design/methodology/approach Applying flow measurement theory and the structural characteristics of optical fiber, flow measurement of paste can be achieved through a combined laser Doppler and optical fiber sensing system based on the principle of optical fiber grating sensors and flow sensors. The system is developed to include light selection, photoelectric detection, a voltage amplifier circuit and a signal filtering circuit. Findings The system is shown, through a comparative experiment, to be of higher accuracy than the traditional ultrasonic method. Originality/value A new method for measuring the paste flow is presented, which is based on the principle of optical fiber Doppler. The method has the advantages of convenient installation, high accuracy and low cost. Experiments show that the method is feasible.

Abstract:In order to identify different types of wine, we introduce an electronic tongue system based on Multi Amplitude Pulse scan method. Use a high accurate electronic tongue that composes of screen-printing electrode, detecting circuit and Multi Amplitude Pulse scan method to test six different types of wine. By extracting characteristic numbers and using principal component analysis, we study and analyse the original data. The method of extracting characteristic numbers greatly reduces the system data. And principal component analysis has showed that the electronic tongue has high identification in detecting the mixture of wine. Provide a new method for the creation of wine quality detecting instrument and the system wine quality evaluation system.

Abstract:An on-line measurement device of pulp fiber based on computer vision is designed according to the characteristics of pulp fiber. The image-processing algorithm is proposed to extract the characteristics of the fiber, which can be obtained after fiber image denoising, image enhancement and corner detection. In the paper, the fiber length, coarseness, curl degree and distribution are used to describe the fiber characteristics. The corner detection algorithm is applied to identify the curl characteristics of the fiber. Experimental results proves the validity and effectiveness of this method.
Detection and analysis of electrochemical signals in wine fermentation process

Abstract:This study presents an in-depth analysis of the electrochemical fingerprint spectra of different yeast strains (BV818, L2323, and ExcellenceXR) during the fermentation process of red grape wine. It was found that the electrochemical fingerprint spectra significantly change as fermentation progresses, indicative of molecular breakdown and the generation of electrochemically active small molecules. For instance, the sugar content exhibited a decline over time with BV818 showing the fastest consumption rate. Similarly, CO 2 emissions and alcohol concentration showed an increase over time, with BV818 yielding the highest results. The total acidity initially increased and then decreased, while the total phenolic content displayed a trend of initial increase followed by a decrease. Anthocyanin levels dropped rapidly within the first 48 h of fermentation and then stabilized. A significant correlation was observed between the changes in electrochemical fingerprint spectra and the total acid and total phenol content. These findings highlight the potential application of electrochemical fingerprinting for monitoring the wine fermentation process and evaluating the impact of different yeast strains on wine quality and composition. Further research will be focused on a more detailed analysis of changes in related substances and broader applications of this technique in the wine industry.

Abstract:Fibre drop analysis is a new multi-analysis technology for measuring the physical and chemical properties of liquids. One parameter that can be measured by the fibre drop analyser is surface tension. The conventional method for surface tension measurement is the constant volume delivery mode, in which the uncertainty is mainly caused by evaporation. We present here a remnant drop (RD) method to improve the uncertainty in measuring volatile liquids. The method measures the mass and vibration frequency of the RD and calculates the surface tension by comparing the measured liquid with a reference liquid. A RD model is presented to analyse the surface tension. The experimental results show that the method improved the accuracy of surface tension measurements by about 60% for a volatile liquid (e.g. ether).

Abstract:Process analysis and monitoring during the manufacturing of the dripping pills are essential. However, research on developing sensor-based technology or process analytical technology (PAT) tools to analyze and monitor the dripping process is minimal. The purpose of this work is to develop a fast and non-destructive laser detection system for quantitative visualization of droplets, which involves detecting the size of the droplet and calculating the weight of the dripping pills during the dripping process. Several factors influencing the detection performance of the detection system and the detection system capability for quantitation of the pill weight were explored. The laser detection system accurately detects the weight of the dripping pills with the coefficients of determination (R2) higher than 0.99. It was also robust concerning the variation in critical process parameters and critical material attributes. Furthermore, the laser detection system was successfully applied to the production line of Ginkgo biloba leaf dripping pills to monitor the dripping pills weight. The proposed laser detection system can analyze and monitor the dripping process in dripping pill manufacturing with stable performance, high accuracy, and high efficiency.

Abstract:The application of near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy for on-line quantitative monitoring of alcohol precipitation of the Danhong injection was investigated. For the NIR measurements, two fiber optic probes designed to transmit NIR radiation through a 2mm path length flow cell were applied to collect spectra in real-time. Particle swarm optimization- (PSO-) based least square support vector machines (LS-SVM) and partial least squares (PLS) models were developed for quantitative analysis of the critical intermediate quality attributes: the soluble solid content (SSC) and concentrations of danshensu (DSS), protocatechuic aldehyde (PA), hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) and salvianolic acid B (SAB). The optimal models were then used for on-line quantitative monitoring of alcohol precipitation. The results showed that the PSO-based LS-SVM with a radial basis function (RBF) kernel was slightly better than the conventional PLS method, even though both methods exhibited satisfactory fitting results and predictive abilities. In this study, successful models were built and applied on-line; these models proffer real-time data and instant feedback about alcohol precipitation.

Abstract:The advantages of optical fiber sensors include their miniaturization, strong anti-interference ability, high sensitivity, low cost, and fast response speed. They can be used for in situ detection in harsh environments, making them suitable for a wide range of applications such as blood detection and monitoring. This technology holds great potential for medical diagnosis and health monitoring, opening up new possibilities in the field. Coating technology plays a crucial role in enhancing the sensitivity and stability of optical fiber sensors, ultimately improving their measurement accuracy and reliability. This manuscript expounds the application status and progression of optical fiber sensors in the determination of blood glucose concentrations, blood pH, diverse proteins in blood, and physical properties of blood. The principle of optical fiber sensors and the application of coating technology for detecting varying targets are scrutinized in detail, with particular emphasis on the advantages and limitations of distinct design schemes. The adept amalgamation of optical fiber sensing technology and coating technology amplifies the adaptability of optical fiber sensors in diverse practical scenarios, thereby presenting novel instruments and methodologies for researchers in pertinent fields to augment their advancement and development.

Abstract:Wine is a high-value alcoholic beverage welcomed by consumers because of its flavor and nutritional value. The key information on wine bottle label is the basis of consumers' choice, which also becomes a target for manufacturers to adulterate, including geographical origin, grape variety and vintage. With the improvement of wine adulteration technology, modern technological means are needed to solve the above mentioned problems. The chemical basis of wine determines the type of technique used. Detection technology can be subdivided into four groups: mass spectrometry techniques, spectroscopic techniques, chromatography techniques, and other techniques. Multivariate statistical analysis of the data was performed by means of chemometrics methods. This paper outlines a series of procedures for wine classification and identification, and classified the analytical techniques and data processing methods used in recent years with listing their principles, advantages and disadvantages to help wine researchers choose appropriate methods to meet the challenge and ensure wine traceability and authenticity.

Abstract:With the increased incidence of wine fraud, a fast and reliable method for wine certification has become a necessary prerequisite for the vigorous development of the global wine industry. In this study, a classification strategy based on three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy combined with chemometrics was proposed for oak-barrel and stainless steel tanks with oak chips aged wines. Principal component analysis (PCA), partial least squares analysis (PLS-DA), and Fisher discriminant analysis (FDA) were used to distinguish and evaluate the data matrix of the three-dimensional fluorescence spectra of wines. The results showed that FDA was superior to PCA and PLS-DA in classifying oak-barrel and stainless steel tanks with oak chips aged wines. As a general conclusion, three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy can provide valuable fingerprint information for the identification of oak-barrel and stainless steel tanks with oak chips aged wines, while the study will provide some theoretical references and standards for the quality control and quality assessment of oak-barrel aged wines.

Abstract:Due to the globally existed and economically motivated adulteration including mislabeling and/or blending, fast wine characterization is important in wine industry. Herein, we developed an electrostatic spray ionization-mass spectrometry (ESTASI-MS)-based method to distinguish wines. Wine samples were directly analyzed by ESTASI-MS without any pretreatment. Microdroplets of wine were deposited on a plastic plate for analysis. The collection of each mass spectrometric datum can be accomplished in 1-2 min without any need of pretreatment to the sample, followed by principle component analysis to discriminate wines with different labels and vintages. Long-term storage of wine was simulated and characterized by utilizing the method. High-performance liquid chromatography-MS was further applied to identify the distinctive compounds in wines to indicate their difference. We found that the method can offer a strategy for quick wine analysis, which is of practical value in wine industry for wine classification and aging control.

Abstract:A method for rapid and accurate quantitative determination of major aroma compounds from dry wine has been developed.Firstly,active carbon is added into dry wine according to a certain ratio to adsorb involatile substances such as tannin and pigment.The mixture is stirred and deposited before filtration by poly(vinylidene fluoride) membrane.Then the clear and colorless filtrated sample is analyzed directly by GC system.By the specially established calibration curves,the concentration of each aroma compound in dry wine prior to the adsorption can be obtained fast and accurately.Besides,the classification and comparison of different wines can be carried out by the fingerprint area chromatograms.

Abstract:Infrared evanescent wave sensing based on chalcogenide fiber is an emerging technology for qualitative and quantitative analysis of most organic compounds. Here, a tapered fiber sensor made from Ge10As30Se40Te20 glass fiber was reported. The fundamental modes and intensity of evanescent waves in fibers with different diameters were simulated with COMSOL. The 30 mm length tapered fiber sensors with different waist diameters, 110, 63, and 31 μm, were fabricated for ethanol detection. The sensor with a waist diameter of 31 μm has the highest sensitivity of 0.73 a.u./% and a limit of detection (LoD) of 0.195 vol.% for ethanol. Finally, this sensor has been used to analyze alcohols, including Chinese baijiu (Chinese distilled spirits), red wine, Shaoxing wine (Chinese rice wine), Rio cocktail, and Tsingtao beer. It is shown that the ethanol concentration is consistent with the nominal alcoholicity. Moreover, other components such as CO2 and maltose can be detected in Tsingtao beer, demonstrating the feasibility of its application in detecting food additives.

Abstract:Effective fermentation monitoring is a growing need due to the rapid pace of change in the wine industry, which calls for fast methods providing real time information in order to assure the quality of the final product. The objective of this work is to investigate the potential of non-destructive techniques associated with chemometric data analysis, to monitor time-related changes that occur during red wine fermentation. Eight micro-fermentation trials conducted in the Valtellina region (Northern Italy) during the 2009 vintage, were monitored by a FT-NIR and a FT-IR spectrometer and by an electronic nose and tongue. The spectroscopic technique was used to investigate molecular changes, while electronic nose and electronic tongue evaluated the evolution of the aroma and taste profile during the must-wine fermentation. Must-wine samples were also analysed by traditional chemical methods in order to determine sugars (glucose and fructose) consumption and alcohol (ethanol and glycerol) production. Principal Component Analysis was applied to spectral, electronic nose and electronic tongue data, as an exploratory tool, to uncover molecular, aroma and taste modifications during the fermentation process. Furthermore, the chemical data and the PC1 scores from spectral, electronic nose and electronic tongue data were modelled as a function of time to identify critical points during fermentation. The results showed that NIR and MIR spectroscopies are useful to investigate molecular changes involved in wine fermentation while electronic nose and electronic tongue can be applied to detect the evolution of taste and aroma profile. Moreover, as demonstrated through the modeling of NIR, MIR, electronic nose and electronic tongue data, these non destructive methods are suitable for the monitoring of must-wine fermentation giving crucial information about the quality of the final product in agreement with chemical parameters. Although in this study the measurements were carried out in off-line mode, in future these non destructive techniques could be valid and simple tools, able to provide in-time information about the fermentation process and to assure the quality of wine.
