Abstract:In this study, oxide films of varying thicknesses were artificially produced by controlling the holding time of the steel plates in a resistance furnace in the treatment process before cold roll bonding (CRB). Through the shear property test and microscopic characterization of 6061Al/Q235 steel composite plate after annealing, the effects of different oxidation time and reduction rates on the cold-rolled composite plate were analyzed, and the shear fracture mechanism of the composite plate under different oxidation time was explored. The results showed that the thin-oxide film produced by short-time (2.5 min) oxidation will not hinder the diffusion of Al element in the oxide film. A continuous metallurgical bonding zone is formed at the interface, and a continuous tearing phenomenon of aluminium matrix is formed during the shear process. The oxide formed by long-time (17.5 min and 32.5 min) oxidation and the steel matrix cracked first during the shearing process. Besides, the firstly fractured oxide moved with the aluminium matrix to induce stress concentration in the plastic deformation process of the fresh metal bonding zone, reducing the threshold value of aluminium matrix fracture. Therefore, at the reduction rate above 55 %, the bonding strength of composite plate prepared by short-time oxidation process is higher and the bonding strength above 70 MPa could be obtained. Moreover, the reduction rate of cold-rolled composite plate was effectively reduced with long-time oxidation process, that is, the bonding strength exceeding 50 MPa could be obtained through 50 % reduction rate.
