Concurrent Activities Programming Method

Abstract:Programming of concurrent engineering activities in productdevelopment is of great significance to shorten development lead-time and to minimize cost. Moreover, it eliminates unnecessary redesign periods and guarantees that serial activities can be executed in parallel as much as possible. A heuristic programming method is presented based on the characteristics of concurrent activities in the product development process. To ensure effective utilization of resources and the efficient delivery of information, the process must consider some key factors to successfully execute the activities, such as order, information, resources, implementation time and activity overlap time. A simulated example which is a part of a spaceflight product development process shows the feasibility of the algorithm.
