Abstract:Nanocrystalline SnO2 of different sizes were prepared by the reverse dropping precipitation method using ethynol as the dispersive and protective reagent. XRD patterns showed that the synthesized SnO2 was amorphous when calcination temperature was below 200°C; but when calcination temperature reached the range of 400-800°C, the prepared SnO2 was nanocrystalline with single-phase, and was tetragonal in structure with space group P4/mnm. TEM photos revealed that the SnO2 nanoparticles were spherical in shape, and the mean sizes of SnO2 particles increased with the increase of calcination temperature. Weight loss analysis indicated that the weight loss of precursor mainly depended on the calcination temperature, but little depended on the calcination time. Measurement of relative density showed that the relative density of SnO2 nanocrystalline powder increased with the increase in SnO2 crystal sizes.
