Abstract:Biorthogonal multiple wavelets are generated from refinable function vectors by using the multiresolution analysis. In this paper we provide a general method for the construction of compactly supported biorthogonal multiple wavelets by refinable function vectors which are the solutions of vector refinement equations of the form φ (x) = ∑_α∈ℤ^s a(α )φ (Mx - α ), x ∈ℝ^s , where the vector of functions ϕ = ( ϕ 1 , …, ϕ r ) T is in (L_2 (ℝ^s ))^r ,a = :(a(α ))_α∈ℤ^s is a finitely supported sequence of r × r matrices called the refinement mask, and M is an s × s integer matrix such that lim n →∞ M − n = 0. Our characterizations are in the general setting and the main results of this paper are the real extensions of some known results.

Abstract:Wavelet analysis has become a developing branch of mathematics for over twenty years. In this paper, the notion of matrix-valued multiresolution analysis of space L-2(R-3,C-rxr) is introduced. A method for constructing biorthogonal matrix valued trivariate wavelet packets is developed and their properties are discussed by means of time-frequency analysis method, matrix theory and functional analysis method. Three biorthogonality formulas concerning these wavelet packets are provided. Finally, new Riesz bases of space L-2(R-3,C-rxr) is obtained by constructing a series of subspaces of biorthogonal matrix-valued wavelet packets.

Abstract:The derivatives of multivariate vector scaling function with Compact Support is proved to be refinable one in [1], and its refinable coefficients denoted by Kronecker product of matrices. In view of this, the paper applies the elementary property of the Kronecker product, and uses the technique similar to [2], to give a general construction for the orthogonal multi-wavelets of the derivative function, at the same time, obtains the simply computational algorithm. Lastly we present an example to show how construct wavelets of derivatives of multi-scaling refinable function.

Abstract:The notion of vector-valued multiresolution analysis is introduced and the concept of biorthogonal multiple vector-valued wavelets which are wavelets for vector fields, is introduced. It is proved that, like in the scalar and multiwavelet case, the existence of a pair of biorthogonal multiple vector-valued scaling functions guarantees the existence of a pair of biorthogonal multiple vector-valued wavelet functions. An algorithm for constructing a class of compactly supported biorthogonal multiple vector-valued wavelets is presented. Their properties are investigated by means of operator theory and algebra theory and time-frequency analysis method. Several biorthogonality formulas regarding these wavelet packets are obtained.

Abstract:Orthogonal multiwavelets have become powerful tool of signal processing. In this paper, we devote to study constructing orthogonal multiwavelet with multiplicity 2r and high vanishing moment associated with the special matrices. First we derive the related scaling function with high order of sum rules by employing CBC algorithm. Further, we obtain the orthogonal multiwavelet on [-1,1] with desirable properties such as symmetry and anti-symmetry and high vanishing moment. The method is simple and can be implemented efficiently.

Abstract:Multiwavelets constitute a new chapter which has been added to wavelet theory, possess different properties from scalar wavelets. It is crucial for multiwavelets to choose a good prefilter which can provide a good approximation to the initial signals. In this paper, an approach to the construction of orthogonal balanced filter is proposed, and experimental results of the image coding by the approach prove that its performance is higher than GHM and CL multiwavelets, closer to or higher than 9/7 scalar filter without any prefilter.

Abstract:A more flexible method of constructing multiwavelet packets with the scale a ≥ 2 from the same set of multiwavelets is discussed in this paper. The properties of these packets are studied. The formulae for performing iterations and decomposition are given. L2(R) can be further decomposed by these multiwavelet packets and good bases of L2(R) are given. Finally, we provide the algorithms for the decomposition and reconstruction using these multiwavelet packets.

Abstract:For compactly supported m-band (m greater than or equal to 2, m is an element of Z) orthonormal multiwavelet systems, an algorithm to construct compactly supported orthogonal multiwavelets from the associated multi-scaling functions is presented in this paper. This method is simple for computation, does not need to solve a set of nonlinear equations in unknown matrices or factorize a polynomial matrix into a special form, and is not restrained by the multiplicity of multiwavelets. It only needs to solve some linear equations and compute some matrices. As an example, the GHM multiwavelets are derived via this method.
