Abstract:The robust D stability analysis problem for a class of singular systems is considered in this paper. With the introduction of some free matrices, a new necessary and sufficient condition for a singular system to be D stable is proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). This result is extended to the singular systems with polytopic uncertainties and a sufficient condition is obtained for the uncertain singular systems to be robust D stable using the parameter-dependent Lyapunov function method. Numerical example shows the effectiveness of the obtained approach. © 2011 ISSN 1881-803X.

Abstract:The robust D stabilization problem is considered for singular systems with polytopic uncertainties in this paper. Both the derivative matrix E and the state matrix A are with uncertainties, under the assumption that the rank of matrix E is constant. Firstly, with the introduction of some free matrices, a new dilated LMI condition for the singular system to be D stable is proposed, based on which, the robust D stable problem is solved, and a sufficient condition for the closed system to be robust D stabilizable is obtained. The desired state feedback controller is given in an explicit expression. Numerical examples show the efficiency of the obtained approach.
Robust Stability and Stabilisation of Discrete-Time Descriptor Systems with Uncertainties in the Difference Matrix

Abstract:This study considers the problems of robust stability and stabilisation for linear discrete-time descriptor systems with norm-bounded uncertainties in all the system matrices including that in the difference matrix E. Under the assumption that the difference matrix E is rank-invariant for all admissible uncertainties, the robustness analysis problem under consideration falls into two cases: right-singular case and left-singular case. A necessary and sufficient stability condition and a sufficient stability condition are proposed for the first and second case, respectively. By using a state augmentation technique, sufficient stabilisation conditions are obtained for both cases. Furthermore, a necessary and sufficient stabilisation condition is established in the case of a non-singular matrix E. Finally, illustrative examples show that the proposed conditions are effective to design the stabilising controller for uncertain discrete-time descriptor systems with both the singular and non-singular matrixE.

Abstract:The problem of robust stabilizing a class of time-varying time-delay uncertain nonlinear systems is studied in this paper. The systems under consideration are nonlinear systems consisting of feedback linearizable nominal parts and norm-bounded nonlinear uncertain perturbations in states, time-varying time-delay states and control inputs. A sufficient condition for the robust stabilization of such systems is derived, then the sufficient condition is transformed into a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) problem. A robust controller, combining feedback linearization technique and quadratic stabilization via linear feedback, is developed such that the obtained closed-loop system is globally stable.

The results were obtained in terms of LMIs. With the powerful LMI toolbox, it was very convenient to solve this problem. Examples showed that this method is effective in determining the robust stability and related stability margin of interval matrices.

Abstract:We focus on the problem of robust stability for the linear uncertain multi-time-delay system. Both the systems subjected to unstructured parametric uncertainties and structured parametric are concerned. Based on the fact that if the characteristic roots of a system lie in the left half complex plane then the system is asymptotically stable, several delay-independent asymptotically stable sufficient conditions for linear uncertain multi-time-delay systems are derived. These conditions only rely on the structure of the system; this can lead to reduction in conservatism. Some numerical example examples are given to show the superiority of our results to those in the literature.

Abstract:The focal point of this paper is to provide some simple and efficient criteria to judge the ${\cal D}$-stability of two families of polynomials, i.e., an interval multilinear polynomial matrix family and a polytopic polynomial family. Taking advantage of the uncertain parameter information, we analyze these two classes of uncertain models and give some LMI conditions for the robust stability of the two families. Two examples illustrate the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:The problem of the robust D-stability analysis for linear systems with parametric uncertainties is addressed. For matrix polytopes, new conditions via the affine parameter-dependent Lyapunov function of uncertain systems are developed with the benefit of the scalar multi-convex function. To be convenient for applications, such conditions are simplified into new linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions, which can be solved by the powerful LMI toolbox. Numerical examples are provided to indicate that this new approach is less conservative than previous results for Hurwitz stability, Schur stability and D-stability of uncertain systems under certain circumstances.

Abstract:On the basis of an infinite to one mapping and the structure of the null space of a multivariate matrix polynomial (MMP), a novel sufficient condition is derived in this paper for the robust stability of a linear time‐invariant system with multiple uncertain time‐delays, parametric modelling errors and unmodelled dynamics. This condition depends on time‐delay bounds and is less conservative than the existing ones. An attractive property is that this condition becomes also necessary in some physically meaningful situations, such as the case that there is only one uncertain time‐delay and neither parametric perturbations nor unmodelling errors exist. Moreover, using ideas of representing a positive‐definite MMP through matrix sum of squares, an asymptotic necessary and sufficient condition is derived for the robust stability of this system. All the conditions can be converted to linear matrix inequalities. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:The problem of robust stability analysis for convex polytopic uncertain discrete-time systems with multiple-state delays is investigated.Based on the parameter-dependent Lyapunov stability and linear matrix inequality,the sufficient condition for robust stability is derived to enable the systems with delays to be robustly stable.With this condition,robust stability verification for the systems can be accomplished by testing the feasibility of a set of linear matrix inequalities.Due to the idea of parameter-dependent Lyapunov stability,the obtained robust stability condition has less conservativeness than the one based on quadratic stability.Numerical examples validate the results.

Abstract:The robust D-stability of a class of multilinear interval polynomials is considered. Some sufficient conditions are given to judge the robust D-stability of the uncertain systems. In short, an uncertain system is robustly D-stable if some linear matrix inequalities are solvable. Moreover, our results are applied to the robust stabilization of multilinear interval plants. Taking advantage of the uncertainty structure information, these results are computationally tractable and effective in practice.

Abstract:The problem of robust stabilization of a system family is studied here. A sufficient condition for the existence of a robust controller is presented under the assumption that there are perturbations both in the numerator and in the denominator of the nominal system. This condition can be given by an inequality that is satisfied by the coefficient vectors of the perturbed polynomials. Based on this, the robust controller family stabilizing the system family can be obtained. Therefore, the condition has the advantages of easy computing and further satisfying other required properties.

Abstract:The robust stability of a multivariable system with both structured real parametric and unstructured norm bounded uncertainties is considered. It is shown that if the real parametric uncertainty enters only linearly and independently into the numerator matrix and the denominator characteristic polynomial, then the robust stability (or stability margin) can be tested (or calculated) exactly. It is also shown that this in fact gives a way to compute a class of real structured singular values.< >

Abstract:In this paper, the robust α-stability problem of matrix second-order systems with perturbations in the form of a one-parameter family of matrices is investigated. All the system matrices, including the second-order differential coefficient matrices, are assumed to have such perturbations. Based on the Kronecker product, a necessary and sufficient condition for the robust α-stability problem is presented by transforming such a problem into checking the nonsingularity of a class of uncertain matrices. Then, a closed form for the maximal perturbation bounds for preserving the α-stability is given. Finally, illustrative examples are given to show that our results are effective and less conservative than the results obtained by other researchers.

Abstract:The authors deal with the problem of stabilizing a class of uncertain linear systems with time-varying multi-state delay and subject to norm-bounded parameter uncertainty via memoryless linear state feedback. Some sufficient conditions for the robust stabilizability are derived fur this class of uncertain systems. If there exists a positive-definite symmetric solution satisfying the algebraic Riccati equation (or inequality), a suitable memoryless state feedback law can be derived also. Moreover, all such parametric algebraic Riccati inequalities have been transformed into some linear matrix inequality problems, so there is no tuning of the parameters to gain a stabilizing solution
