Abstract:A trend in agent community or enterprises is that they are shifting from closed to open architectures composed of a large number of autonomous agents. One of its implications could be that interface agent framework is getting more important in multi-agent system (MAS); so that systems constructed for different application domains could share a common understanding in human computer interface (HCI) methods, as well as human-agent and agent-agent interfaces. However, interface agent framework usually receives less attention than other aspects of MAS. In this paper, we will propose an interface web agent framework which is based on our former project called WAF and a Distributed HCI template. A group of new functionalities and implications will be discussed, such as web agent presentation, off-line agent reference, reconfigurable activation map of agents, etc. Their enabling techniques and current standards (e.g. existing ontological framework) are also suggested and shown by examples from our own implementation in WAF.
CACA Agent: Capability Collaboration based AI Agent

Abstract:As AI Agents based on Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown potential in practical applications across various fields, how to quickly deploy an AI agent and how to conveniently expand the application scenario of AI agents has become a challenge. Previous studies mainly focused on implementing all the reasoning capabilities of AI agents within a single LLM, which often makes the model more complex and also reduces the extensibility of AI agent functionality. In this paper, we propose CACA Agent (Capability Collaboration based AI Agent), using an open architecture inspired by service computing. CACA Agent integrates a set of collaborative capabilities to implement AI Agents, not only reducing the dependence on a single LLM, but also enhancing the extensibility of both the planning abilities and the tools available to AI agents. Utilizing the proposed system, we present a demo to illustrate the operation and the application scenario extension of CACA Agent.

Abstract:In this paper, we present XM-ADL, a new extensible markup ADL supporting DSE for embedded SoC and generation and retargetability of compiler and simulator. Conforming to the XML 1.0 standard, XM-ADL has the inherent and desirable merits including extensibility, flexibility, self-validation, readability and reusability, the properties lacking in all existing ADLs. Since XM-ADL is a core component of the reconfigurable advanced VLIW architecture (RAVA) project, we illustrate the features of XM-ADL through the description toward the prototype of RAVA system.

Although semantic specification issues have monopolized the debate, other important pragmatic issues must be resolved quickly if ACLs are to support the development of robust agent systems. We introduce some concepts useful in discussing agent communication languages and then compare and evaluate the two major ACLs.

XAgents: A Framework for Interpretable Rule-Based Multi-Agents Cooperation

Abstract:Extracting implicit knowledge and logical reasoning abilities from large language models (LLMs) has consistently been a significant challenge. The advancement of multi-agent systems has further en-hanced the capabilities of LLMs. Inspired by the structure of multi-polar neurons (MNs), we propose the XAgents framework, an in-terpretable multi-agent cooperative framework based on the IF-THEN rule-based system. The IF-Parts of the rules are responsible for logical reasoning and domain membership calculation, while the THEN-Parts are comprised of domain expert agents that generate domain-specific contents. Following the calculation of the member-ship, XAgetns transmits the task to the disparate domain rules, which subsequently generate the various responses. These re-sponses are analogous to the answers provided by different experts to the same question. The final response is reached at by eliminat-ing the hallucinations and erroneous knowledge of the LLM through membership computation and semantic adversarial genera-tion of the various domain rules. The incorporation of rule-based interpretability serves to bolster user confidence in the XAgents framework. We evaluate the efficacy of XAgents through a com-parative analysis with the latest AutoAgents, in which XAgents demonstrated superior performance across three distinct datasets. We perform post-hoc interpretable studies with SHAP algorithm and case studies, proving the interpretability of XAgent in terms of input-output feature correlation and rule-based semantics.

Abstract:Components can be identified from various abstraction levels and can be of different granularities.The components for system software have special challenges for description purpose due to their inherent non-functional attributes and special attributes related to the peculiar role of an operating system.They often exhibit different forms during different phases of the development process of an embedded operating system.An extensible component description language named "XCODE" was presented here.As a XML-based language,XCODE can be envisioned various usage scenarios.It provides an extensible,tool independent,royalty-free approach to describe various aspects of components during Compile-Time,Link-Time and Run-Time.

Abstract:With the rapid advancement of Large Language Models (LLMs), significant progress has been made in multi-agent applications. However, the complexities in coordinating agents' cooperation and LLMs' erratic performance pose notable challenges in developing robust and efficient multi-agent applications. To tackle these challenges, we propose AgentScope, a developer-centric multi-agent platform with message exchange as its core communication mechanism. The abundant syntactic tools, built-in agents and service functions, user-friendly interfaces for application demonstration and utility monitor, zero-code programming workstation, and automatic prompt tuning mechanism significantly lower the barriers to both development and deployment. Towards robust and flexible multi-agent application, AgentScope provides both built-in and customizable fault tolerance mechanisms. At the same time, it is also armed with system-level support for managing and utilizing multi-modal data, tools, and external knowledge. Additionally, we design an actor-based distribution framework, enabling easy conversion between local and distributed deployments and automatic parallel optimization without extra effort. Abstract:Increasingly notable environmental problems facilitate more and more considerable emphasis all over the world on them that will somewhat effectively be reduced by less utilization of raw materials. Aiming at diminishing using materials and hence resulting in delicate environment, product lightweight design, indirectly promoting economic and social interest, is developed and refined with multi-agent support in this paper. Not only involving in performance parameter designing, such lightweight design also consider environmental influence, manufacturability and maintainability in the product life cycle, therefore being a collaborative design process with multi-objective optimization and iterative repetition. Firstly, multi-agent based architecture supporting collaborative product lightweight design is put forward, including detailed description of structural composition. Secondly, the core agent-CAX Agent-is introduced thoroughly. Finally, self-adjusting arm shell, as a case study, is redesigned and implemented with such collaborative architecture to validate the operation process of lightweight design.

Abstract:A multi-agent computing environment and an application in CAPP (Computer-Aided Product Planning) are presented and discussed in this paper. Any agent in MACE-ZIPE can be computational system, a human-computer interaction system or an autonomous expert system. An improved contract net protocol (CNP) is applied. Cooperation among agents is mainly through the task sharing method, though the result sharing method is also supported. In MACE-ZIPE, traditional computational systems and intelligent systems can be easily combined into the target systems. MACE-ZIPE provides: A)An agent oriented programming language to define the agent structure, behavior and negotiation protocol. B)A communication language and protocol to define cooperation among agents that is transparent to the user. C)A method to exchange the medium result between the agents. The results can be in various formats of the information. D)A mechanism to assure the robustness of the application.

Abstract:Existing research work on intelligent agents is facing the challenge of extending agent capabilities. One of major difficulties of applying intelligent agents in various software platforms lies in that generalized agent design models may not fit with specified organizational applications. This problem dramatically hampers the practical applications of intelligent agents. In this paper we point out several aspects that might affect the development of agent-based technology; and further address the information reuse and unification issues through suggesting an enhanced agent capability reuse mechanism, which is able to provide an efficient process for agent capability reuse. Abstract:With the advancement of Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLM), LLM-driven visual agents are increasingly impacting software interfaces, particularly those with graphical user interfaces. This work introduces a novel LLM-based multimodal agent framework for mobile devices. This framework, capable of navigating mobile devices, emulates human-like interactions. Our agent constructs a flexible action space that enhances adaptability across various applications including parser, text and vision descriptions. The agent operates through two main phases: exploration and deployment. During the exploration phase, functionalities of user interface elements are documented either through agent-driven or manual explorations into a customized structured knowledge base. In the deployment phase, RAG technology enables efficient retrieval and update from this knowledge base, thereby empowering the agent to perform tasks effectively and accurately. This includes performing complex, multi-step operations across various applications, thereby demonstrating the framework's adaptability and precision in handling customized task workflows. Our experimental results across various benchmarks demonstrate the framework's superior performance, confirming its effectiveness in real-world scenarios. Our code will be open source soon.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the limitations of simple network management protocol (SNMP) which adopts the centralized service model, discusses the basic idea of AgentX frame and the agent's operating principle, and has a brief analysis on AgentX protocol packets. Abstract:A fundamental task in multi-agent systems is matchmaking, which is to retrieve and classify service descriptions of agents that (best) meet a given service request. In this paper, we present ontology based on agent services compatible matchmaking mechanism for multi-agent system. Based on description of domain ontology by Domain Conceptization Language (DCL) and description of services advertisement and request by Services Description Language (SDL), middle agent provides mediate services for service provider and service requester by three kinds of compatible matchmaking strategies, i.e. the classifying matching, the parameter matching and the constraint matching. The matchmaking process of agent services is discussed in an example. After analysis and evaluation, this paper gives a conclusion.

Abstract:Autonomic computing is a computing system that can manage itself by self-configuration, self-healing, self-optimization and self-protection. With the nature of autonomy, reactivity, sociality, and pro-activity, software agents are promising to make autonomic computing system a reality. We present our approach to implement an autonomic computing infrastructure MAACE that provides dynamically programmable control and management services to support the development and deployment of smart (intelligent) applications. The MAACE provides the environment to manage and control software system by multi-agent systems cooperation, which includes agent federation system, agent mediate services system and agent monitor system. We have successfully implemented a proof-of-concept prototype system that can support the self-configuring, and self-healing of any networked application.

Abstract:Recent advances on large language models (LLMs) enable researchers and developers to build autonomous language agents that can automatically solve various tasks and interact with environments, humans, and other agents using natural language interfaces. We consider language agents as a promising direction towards artificial general intelligence and release Agents, an open-source library with the goal of opening up these advances to a wider non-specialist audience. Agents is carefully engineered to support important features including planning, memory, tool usage, multi-agent communication, and fine-grained symbolic control. Agents is user-friendly as it enables non-specialists to build, customize, test, tune, and deploy state-of-the-art autonomous language agents without much coding. The library is also research-friendly as its modularized design makes it easily extensible for researchers. Abstract:Access control is widely used in most information systems. XML or other languages are usually adopted to define access control policy. In this paper, we examine an approach to employ user and role's attribute expression as a part of access control policy. In our approach, a XACML-based policy language named A-XACML is defined and used as a simple, flexible way to express and enforce access control policies in a variety of environments. The language and schema support include data types, functions, and combining logic which allow simple and complex rules to be defined. Finally, we illustrate how to define access control policies of product document management (PDM) system by using XACML.

Abstract:As the blueprint for software development, software architecture (SA) is very important, and much more attention has been paid to the research on SA. Architecture description language (ADL) is one of the keys to SA research. An XML-based ADL, named ABC/ADL, is presented. ABC/ADL has the ability of describing the high level structure of software system. Besides, it supports refinement, evolution, automated composition and verification of the system. ABC/ADL adopts XML, the data inter-operation standard, as its meta-language. This enables it to have inter-operability with other ADLs as well as traceability between design-phase artifacts and other software life-cycle phase artifacts.

Abstract:Autonomous agents empowered by Large Language Models (LLMs) have undergone significant improvements, enabling them to generalize across a broad spectrum of tasks. However, in real-world scenarios, cooperation among individuals is often required to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of task accomplishment. Hence, inspired by human group dynamics, we propose a multi-agent framework \framework that can collaboratively and dynamically adjust its composition as a greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts system. Our experiments demonstrate that \framework framework can effectively deploy multi-agent groups that outperform a single agent. Furthermore, we delve into the emergence of social behaviors among individual agents within a group during collaborative task accomplishment. In view of these behaviors, we discuss some possible strategies to leverage positive ones and mitigate negative ones for improving the collaborative potential of multi-agent groups.
