Design and Implementation of Multi-service Agent Extension Based on Net-SNMP in Network Management System

Abstract:With the standardization of network technologies and the continual growing of applications based on network,the research on network management are more and more focused on the management of service,and to study and design unified,integrated network management system become extraordinary important.The managed services application mainly receives query request from manager and send trap information to manager through agent which interacts with manager,in the real business platform there are a lot of services to be managed,so how to design a simple,low-cost,high expandable approach for agent extension is the key element to ensure the efficiency and reliability of NMS.Upon that,a design and implementation method for Multi-service agent extension in network management system based on Net-SNMP is presented in this paper: we use Net-SNMP serve as the master agent in a managed node,and embed the subagents into service applications,and the subagent only communicates with master agent to realize the indirect communication between service agent and manager.Practical engineering application result illustrates that the proposed method can work efficiently for the design and development of integrated service network manager,and it can greatly improve the dynamic expandability of the managed equipment and managed services.
