Abstract:Dumortier and Roussarie proposed a conjecture in their paper (2009, Discrete Con. Dyn. Sys., 2,723-781): For any \begin{document}$ q\in {\mathbb{N}} $\end{document} , the Abelian integrals \begin{document}$ J_{2j+1}(h) = \int_{\gamma_h}x^{2j-1}\,\mathrm dy $\end{document} , \begin{document}$ j = 0, 1, 2, \cdots, q $\end{document} , form a strict Chebyshev system on intervals \begin{document}$ h\in (0, \frac{1}{2}] $\end{document} , where \begin{document}$ \gamma_h = \{(x, y)| \mathrm e^{-2y}(y+\frac{1}{2}-x^2) = h\} $\end{document} . If this conjecture holds, then they obtain the precise upper bound of the number of limit cycles that appear near a slow-fast Hopf point of any codimension. In the present paper we develop a method to estimate the number of zeros of Abelian integrals and prove this conjecture.

Abstract:We generalize the "miraculous cancellation" formulas of Alvarez-Gaumé, Witten and Kefeng Liu to a twisted version where an extra complex line bundle is involved. We also apply our result to discuss intrinsic relations between the higher dimensional Rokhlin type congruence formulas of Ochanine [O1], Finashin [F] and Zhang [Z1, 2]. In particular, an analytic proof of the Finashin congruence formula is given.

A modular framework for generalized Hurwitz class numbers II

Abstract:In a recent preprint, we constructed a sesquiharmonic Maass form $\mathcal{G}$ of weight $\frac{1}{2}$ and level $4N$ with $N$ odd and squarefree. Extending seminal work by Duke, Imamoglu, and Tóth, $\mathcal{G}$ maps to Zagier's non-holomorphic Eisenstein series and a linear combination of Pei and Wang's generalized Cohen--Eisenstein series under the Bruinier--Funke operator $\xi_{\frac{1}{2}}$. In this paper, we realize $\mathcal{G}$ as the output of a regularized Siegel theta lift of $1$ whenever $N=p$ is an odd prime building on more general work by Bruinier, Funke and Imamoglu. In addition, we supply the computation of the square-indexed Fourier coefficients of $\mathcal{G}$. This yields explicit identities between the Fourier coefficients of $\mathcal{G}$ and all quadratic traces of $1$. Furthermore, we evaluate the Millson theta lift of $1$ and consider spectral deformations of $1$.

Abstract:Let $p$ and $q$ be distinct prime numbers, with $q\equiv 1\pmod{12}$. Let $N$ be a positive integer that is coprime to $pq$. We prove a formula relating the Hasse--Weil zeta function of the modular curve $X_0(qN)_{\mathbb{F}_q}$ to the Ihara zeta function of the $p$-isogeny graphs of supersingular elliptic curves defined over $\overline{\mathbb{F}_q}$ equipped with a $\Gamma_0(N)$-level structure. When $N=1$, this recovers a result of Sugiyama.

Abstract:In this paper, we use the theory of deformation quantization to understand Connes’ and Moscovici’s results [5]. We use Fedosov’s method of deformation quantization of symplectic manifolds to reconstruct Zagier’s deformation [11] of modular forms, and relate this deformation to the Weyl-Moyal product. We also show that the projective structure introduced by Connes and Moscovici is equivalent to the existence of certain geometric data in the case of foliation groupoids. Using the methods developed by the second author [9], we reconstruct a universal deformation formula of the Hopf algebra H1 associated to codimension one foliations. In the end, we prove that the first Rankin-Cohen bracket RC1 defines a noncommutative Poisson structure for an arbitrary H1 action.

Abstract:We give a number field analogue of a result of Ramanujan, Hardy and Littlewood, thereby obtaining a modular relation involving the non-trivial zeros of the Dedekind zeta function. We also provide a Riesz-type criterion for the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis for ζK(s). New elegant transformations are obtained when K is a quadratic extension, one of which involves the modified Bessel function of the second kind.

A modular framework of generalized Hurwitz class numbers

Abstract:We discover a non-trivial rather simple relation between the mock modular generating functions of the level $1$ and level $N$ Hurwitz class numbers. This relation yields a holomorphic modular form of weight $\frac{3}{2}$ and level $4N$, where $N > 1$ is stipulated to be odd and square-free. We extend this observation to a non-holomorphic framework and obtain a higher level non-holomorphic Zagier Eisenstein series as well as a higher level preimage of it under the Bruinier--Funke operator $\xi_{\frac{1}{2}}$. All of these observations are deduced from a more general inspection of a certain weight $\frac{1}{2}$ Maass--Eisenstein series of level $4N$ at its spectral point $s=\frac{3}{4}$. This idea goes back to Duke, Imamoglu and Tóth in level $4$ and relies on the theory of so-called sesquiharmonic Maass forms. We calculate the Fourier expansion of our sesquiharmonic preimage and of its shadow. We conclude by offering an example if $N=5$ or $N=7$ and we provide the SAGE code to compute the Fourier coefficients involved.

Abstract:We prove conjectured formulas for 1π due to Chan and Verrill and related to modular forms for Γ0(6)+3 . These experimental results from Chan and Verrill involve the sequence of Domb numbers and were discovered via the PARI software. A key tool involved in our proofs of Chan and Verrill's conjectures is given by an identity from Rogers derived via three-variable Mahler measures.

Abstract:We verify the conjectures due to Lewis, Reiner and Stanton about the Hilbert series of the invariant ring of the truncated polynomial ring for all parabolic subgroups up to rank $3$. This is done by constructing an explicit set of generators for each invariant ring in question. We also propose a conjecture concerning the action of the Steenrod algebra and the Dickson algebra on a certain naturally occurring filtration of the invariant ring under the general linear group.

Abstract:In this work, we establish modular parameterizations for two general formulas for $\frac{1}{\pi}$ that subsume conjectural Ramanujan type formulas due to Z.-W. Sun, which have remained open since 2011. As an application of this, in a conceptual way we interpret how Sun's conjectural formulas arise and can be verified, as well as recover other cases that were proved by Cooper, Wan and Zudilin.

On Converse Theorems for Hilbert Modular Forms Assuming Unramified Twists

Abstract:We prove two results on converse theorems for Hilbert modular forms over totally real fields of degree $r>1$. The first result recovers a Hilbert modular form (of some level) from an $L$-series satisfying functional equations twisted by all the unramified Hecke characters. The second result assumes both the 'unramified' functional equations and an Euler product, and recovers a Hilbert modular form of the expected level predicted by the shape of the functional equations. Our result generalizes the current converse theorems for $\mathrm{GL}_2$ in the case of Hilbert modular forms in that we completely remove the assumptions on ramified twists.

Abstract:We investigate non-semisimple modular categories with an eye towards a structure theory, low-rank classification, and applications to low dimensional topology and topological physics. We aim to extend the well-understood theory of semisimple modular categories to the non-semisimple case by using representations of factorizable ribbon Hopf algebras as a case study. We focus on the Cohen-Westreich modular data, which is obtained from the Lyubashenko-Majid modular representation restricted to the Higman ideal of a factorizable ribbon Hopf algebra. The Cohen-Westreich $S$-matrix diagonalizes the mixed fusion rules and reduces to the usual $S$-matrix for semisimple modular categories. The paper includes detailed studies on small quantum groups $U_qsl(2)$ and the Drinfeld doubles of Nichols Hopf algebras, especially the $\mathrm{SL}(2, \mathbb{Z})$-representation on their centers, Cohen-Westreich modular data, and the congruence kernel theorem's validity.

Abstract:We explicitly construct a (unitary) $\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$ permutation gauging of a (unitary) modular category $\mathcal{C}$. In particular, the formula for the modular data of the gauged theory is provided in terms of modular data of $\mathcal{C}$, which provides positive evidence of the reconstruction program. Moreover as a direct consequence, the formula for the fusion rules is derived, generalizing the results of Edie-Michell-Jones-Plavnik. Our construction explicitly shows the genus-$0$ data of the gauged theory contains higher genus data of the original theory. As applications, we obtain an identity for the modular data that does not come from modular group relations, and we prove that representations of the symmetric mapping class group (associated to closed surfaces) coming from weakly group theoretical modular categories have finite images.

Hodge structures on conformal blocks

Abstract:We prove existence and uniqueness of complex Hodge structures on modular functors, under the assumptions that their conformal blocks are semisimple as representations of mapping class groups and that the associated categories are ribbon. These $2$ assumptions are satisfied by modular functors coming from Lie algebras, and it is an open conjecture that they are always satisfied. The proof is based on the non-abelian Hodge correspondence and Ocneanu rigidity. Given a modular functor, we explain how its Hodge numbers fit into a Frobenius algebra and the Chern characters of its Hodge decompositions into a new cohomological field theory (CohFT). In the case of $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ modular functors of level $2$ times an odd number, we give explicit formulas for all Hodge numbers, in any genus $g$.

Abstract:Let K = Q(root-q), where q is any prime number congruent to 7 modulo 8, and let O be the ring of integers of K. The prime 2 splits in K, say 2O = pp*, and there is a unique Z(2)-extension K-infinity of K which is unramified outside p. Let H be the Hilbert class field of K, and write H-infinity = HK infinity. Let M(H-infinity) be the maximal abelian 2-extension of H-infinity which is unramified outside the primes above p, and put X(H-infinity) = Gal(M(H-infinity)/H-infinity). We prove that X(H-infinity) is always a finitely generated Z(2)-module, by an elliptic analogue of Sinnott's cyclotomic argument. We then use this result to prove for the first time the weak p-adic Leopoldt conjecture for the compositum J(infinity) of K-infinity with arbitrary quadratic extensions J of H. We also prove some new cases of the finite generation of the Mordell-Weil group E(J(infinity)) modulo torsion of certain elliptic curves E with complex multiplication by O.

Abstract:String compactifications on an orbi-folded torus with complex structure give rise to chiral fermions, spontaneously broken CP, modular invariance. We show that this allows simple effective theories of flavour and CP where: i) the QCD angle vanishes; ii) the CKM phase is large; iii) quark and lepton masses and mixings can be reproduced up to order one coefficients. We implement such general paradigm in supersymmetry or supergravity, with modular forms or functions, with or without heavy colored states.

Abstract:Recently, it was shown that modular symmetry may solve the strong CP problem without axions, by producing a vanishing QCD angle while generating a large quark CP violation phase. We extend this framework to finite modular groups, systematically identifying the allowed mass textures. We find quark fields must furnish 1D representations and scan the minimal model landscape.
