Abstract:The quality indexes of silk fibroin and sericin such as amino acid content, desiccation weightlessness and ash content were detected and analyzed in this paper. Simultaneously the security indexes of heavy metal content and microorganism content were also determined. Comparing the results with the national standards for food and cosmetics, the quality standard indexes of silk fibroin and sericin were constituted. It provided the basis for further preparing the quality standards for silk fibroin and sericin and was important to supervise their production and to expand their use.

Abstract:The degummed silk fibroins were dissolved in the calcium chloride reagent solution.After the process of the dialysis and freeze-drying,the properties of silk fibroin solution with certain concentration were investigated in this paper.The results showed that the fibroin solution has excellent emulsification and stability within pH 3～10.The emulsification,frothability and its stability increased along with the increasing concentration.The color of the solution is ivory-white systems.This study evaluated the application of the silk fibroin protein in the biomaterial fields.

Abstract:To study the preparation technics,and physical and chemical properties of silk fibroin peptide,refined waste silk was dissolved in 40% calcium chloride solution.The solution obtained was hydrolyzed with alcalase,then ultrafiltrated,and after these processes,desalted by nanofiltration(NF).Finally the desalted solution was sprayed dry.The physical and chemical properties of silk fibroin peptide powder were determined.The results showed that the content of silk fibroin peptide in silk fibroin peptide powder was 929.6 g/kg.The relative molecular weights of the main components of silk fibroin hydrolysate with DH 17% were 249 and 762,respectively,and the water contents took up about 72.9% and 15.5%,respectively.The relative molecular weights of the main components of silk fibroin hydrolysate with DH 21% were 209 and 668,respectively,the contents taking up about 84.4% and 7.2%,respectively.The main amino acids of silk fibroin peptide were glycine,alanine,serine and tyrosine,taking up 85% of a total amount of amino acid.The average hydrophobicity was 2.29 kJ/residues.The solubility of silk fibroin peptide was very good in the pH ranging from 2 to 10.The viscosity of silk fibroin peptide solution was low,and increased lentamente with the concentration increased.So silk fibroin peptide had good physical,chemical and nutrient properties,and would have a wide application foreground.

Abstract:The research and development of fine size silk as representative of special silk variety,and its products are being concerned by lots of scholars at home and abroad,which have achieved positive progresses.Using the induction of trimolter by anti-juvenile hormone analogs and the breeding of fine size silkworm variety,the fine size silk of about 2.0 D(2.222 dtex) and its special products received by the market were developed.The ultrafine size silk of about 1.0 D(1.111 dtex) were developed by using "superfine plain" to change the moultinism of silkworm,and its products have good characteristics as unique luster and flavor,anti-wrinkle,excellent stainability,high efficiency etc.,showing the good development and utilization value.

Abstract:Silk fibroin is a kind of biodegradable macromolecule protein. A novel SF/AA/AM superabsorbent polymer was prepared by graft copolymerization with silk fibroin (SF), acrylic acid (AA) and acrylamide (AM) in aqueous solutions, Various effects of synthesis conditions on water absorbency were discussed and the optimal reaction condition was obtained. The absorbency of SF/AA/AM superbabsorbent polymer in deionized water, tap water and 0.9% NaCl solution is 223 g/g~296 g/g, 135 g/g~208 g/g, 24.3 g/g~33.4 g/g, respectively. The IR spectrum shows silk fibroin grafts well with acrylic acid and acrylamide. The surface morphology of SF/AA/AM superabsorbent polymer has been studied by SEM micrographs.This study is expected to present references to farther research on biodegradable superabsorbent polymer.

Abstract:The present study was to research the scale production technology of ultrafine cocoon of single yarn size of1.0 dtex. The results indicated that the "Chao Xi Su" was dissolved in water at temperature above 85 ℃ to prepare 1250times or 2500 times induce liquid, the induce liquid at a weight ratio of 1:5 was fully wetted on mulberry leaves, contin uously feeding the drug leaves on newly third-exuviated silkworms above 25 ℃ for 24 h or 48 h to induce trimolter,hand-pick mature silkworm on centipede-type mountage of straw rod length of 30 cm or plastic folding mountage of the4.5~5.0 cm at crest s and 5.6~6.0 cm at crest height to cocooning. It was the best scale production technology of ultra fine size cocoon.
An Experiment on Drying,Cooking and Reeling Cocoons of Ultrafine Filament

Abstract:In order to produce high-quality raw silk of ultrafine size,various treatments were tested to dry,cook and reel raw cocoons of ultrafine filament whose single yarn size was about 1. 1 dtex. Based on the reeling data,appropriate major process condition for drying cocoons was: primary drying at 90 ℃ for 90 min and a range of long pile back for 12 h,second drying from 90 ℃ down to 75 ℃ evenly and maintaining at 75 ℃ for 120 min. That for cooking cocoons was: high temperature permeating stage at 95 ℃,low temperature permeating stage at 55 ℃,steaming stage at 95 ℃,finishing stage at 80 ～ 90 ℃,guarded exit stage at 50 ℃,and cooking time 7 min. That for reeling cocoons was: the collection device with magnetic eye aperture at 60 ～ 70 μm,croisure length about 14 cm,end-groping temperature at 90 ℃ ± 3 ℃,reeling water temperature at 36 ℃ ± 3 ℃,flow rate at 700 mL /min ± 100 mL /min,reeler speed about 80 ～ 100 r /min,and manual fixed-cocoon-number end feeding. The results indicated that drying cocoon with lower temperature and longer time and steaming cocoon with lower temperature and shorter time are favorable to improve the reelability of cocoons and cleanness and neatness of raw silk. Lower reeler speed,high end-groping temperature and higher reeling water temperature are favorable to increase reelability of cocoons. Turning the reeler's automatically sensed fixed-filament-size end feeding into manual fixed-cocoon-number end feeding,using small aperture magnetic eye collection device,and setting longer croisure length are favorable to enhance quality of the raw silk.

Abstract:The micro-structure of silk fibroin and the structural difference between silk surface and bulk were studied using a range of analytical techniques, microscopy, Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy in ATR mode, analysis of amino acids composition and FuLin reagent analysis; The compositions and distribution of the amino acids in silk fibroin, especially the main aromatic amino acids (tyrosine) which plays an important role on the structure and properties of silk fibroin was studied, in order to reveal the relationship between silk structure and the intrinsic defect of silk fabrics such as yellowing, easy-crease, and color fastness. The results show that there is multiple-layers structure in natural silk fibroin, with higher crystallinity in the in-layer than out-layer; The acids with large side-chain such as Lys, His, Cys, Arg, Asp, Phe, Leu, Glu, Tyr are richer in the outer-layer, and the amino acids with small side-chain such as Gly, Ala and Ser are richer in the inner-layer of silk fibrions.

Abstract:Polyethylene wax micro-emulsion was prepared from polyethylene wax 6 100 by high temperature and high-pressure method in hermetic conditions.Influences of HLB number and dosage of emulsifier,emulsification time,temperature,pH,stirring speed and cooling conditions on the properties of polyethylene wax emulsion were investigated.Furthermore,the morphology,particle size and distribution of the emulsion were analyzed by field emission-transmission electron microscope(FE-TEM) and laser dynamic light emission device(DLS).The results showed that the optimum emulsification condition was: HLB number was 14.8,the dosage of compound emulsifier was 6.4%,and the wax was emulsified at 130 ℃ for 40 min with 60 r/min of stirring speed under pH 8.The polyethylene wax ultrafine micro-emulsion with more than 40% of solid content,50 nm of average particle size,good stability and dispersibility could be obtained under the optimum condition.The softness and fullness of the fabric treated with this kind of ultrafine micro-emulsion was obviously improved.Frictional resistance of the fabric surface could be reduced,and the tailoring properties of the fabric could also be greatly improved.

Abstract:Objective: To detect bacteriostatic activity, uvioresistant ability, hygroscopicity, moisture and dermal sensitization of silk protein,and the scientific basis for medical data thereof. Methods: By artificial means,silk protein was made of 5 different molecular weights, different sizes particles including silk fibroin peptide, 350 nm fibroin powder, 3 μm silk powder, silk peptide molecules and nanowires powder (<100 nm). The corresponding solutions were prepared. The related biological activity was detected by using plate bacterial colony count, absorption, moisture absorption rate of saturated calcium carbonate solution, allergen exposure and stimulate contact assay. Results: There were certain antibacterial abilities in 5 kinds of silk proteins. The inhibitory effect was excellent on E. coli than Staphylococcus aureus. There were strong abilities to absorb ultraviolet radiation in silk peptide, 3 μm silk protein powder and high molecular weight silk peptide after 1 h ultraviolet irradiation. High molecular weight silk peptide and silk peptide showed a better hygroscopic, and the hygroscopic rates were 44.78% and 35.30% in 48 h. The 3 μm silk protein powder and silk peptide showed the better moisture retention, and the moisture rates were 82.29% and 78.91% in 48 h. Silk protein was no skin sensitization in guinea-pig skin. Conclusion: The biological properties of silk protein are expected to be deeper, wider development and application in the medical field.

Abstract:Ultrafine copper powder has the excellent characteristics of both copper and ultrafine particles and has been widely used in industry. Different fields have different requirements for ultrafine copper powder, so various preparation methods have been derived. In this paper, the characteristics of electrolysis, liquid phase reduction, hydrothermal method and polyol method are analyzed. Some new preparation methods with novel ideas are also enumerated. Also, the applications of ultrafine copper powder are described. In electronic industry, ultrafine copper powder can be used in preparing conductive paste of multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) and conductive ink. In catalysts, copper powder can catalyze the reaction alone, can be loaded on other substances and form alloys with other metals for catalysis. In antibacterial materials, copper nanoparticles can distort the DNA of bacteria and interrupt its biochemical process. Finally, the application trend of ultrafine copper powder is prospected, which is helpful to develop new synthesizing methods and applications of ultrafine copper powder.

Abstract:Abstract Silk sericin protein is a natural high-molecular-weight compound that contains eighteen types of amino acids. It is non-toxic, biodegradable, and biocompatible, with simple preparation methods and low cost. It finds widespread application in functional clothing, medical and pharmaceutical fields, tissue engineering, and more. Nano-titanium dioxide, on the other hand, possesses non-toxic, self-cleaning, antibacterial, and deodorizing properties. To develop multifunctional textiles with deodorization, UV protection, and good thermal and mechanical properties, this study utilized a compounding method to modify citric acid-pre-treated cotton fabrics through a two-dipping and two-padding process using a blend finishing solution of silk sericin protein and nano-titanium dioxide. Observations of the microstructure before and after fabric finishing, along with evaluations of deodorization, UV protection, and thermal properties, revealed that controlling the proportion of the silk sericin protein/nano-titanium dioxide blend finishing solution can result in a smooth surface of the modified cotton fabric. This modification not only enhances the fabric’s UV protection and tensile strength but also improves its thermal properties while imparting certain deodorization capabilities. Comprehensive analysis concludes that using silk sericin protein and nano-titanium dioxide for modifying cotton fabric to prepare multifunctional textiles with deodorization, UV protection, and good thermal and mechanical performance is feasibly viable.

Abstract:The high crystallinity and sophisticated hierarchical architecture of native animal silk endow it with comprehensive mechanical properties that are superior to those of most synthetic fibers. However, these features also make the direct exfoliation of silk nanofibrils (SNFs) highly challenging. On the other hand, silk-based materials prepared by conventional method (i.e., through silk fibroin aqueous solution) are usually weak, so the preparation methods based on SNFs have attracted much attention in recent years. Herein, a facile and environmentally friendly route is developed to directly exfoliate SNFs from natural Bombyx mori silkworm silk via ammonium persulfate oxidation followed by ultrasonication. The obtained SNFs have a high yield (nearly 40%) and are well dispersed in water in a wide pH range, so they can act as a good starting material to prepare subsequent silk-based materials. The main application of the SNFs demonstrated in this article is a curcumin (Cur)/SNFs hydrogel as wound dressing. In vivo experimental results show that the Cur/SNFs hydrogel significantly enhanced the healing rate of wounds on diabetic mice. Therefore, the preparation method developed in this study provides an efficient way to produce SNFs, which have great potential for a wide range of applications, including as wound dressings for diabetics. Abstract:Amorphous Ni-P ultrafine particles with no Ni(OH)2 as impurity have been prepared by chemical reduction method, i.e. by the reaction of the aqueous solutions of nickel chloride and sodium hypophosphite. Among factors such as the initial pH value of the reaction system, additives and the reaction time, it has been shown that the initial pH value is the most important in determining the yield and the properties of the products. The products have been characterized by XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, and DSC, and the results revealed that, with an initial pH value of 11, amorphous Ni-P ultrafine particles with the average diameter of ca. 150 nm and relatively even chemical and topological distribution can be obtained.

Study on the Extraction Method for Sericin from Silk Wastewater

Abstract:Silk manufacturing wastewater was concentrated under vacuum and spray—dried to crude pow- der.Then,acid precipitation method and chilled alcohol precipitation method were applied to extract sericin. The experimental results showed that the extraction yield of sericin by chilled alcohol precipitation was high- er than acid precipitation,and the yield reached 64% after using 75% ethanol.The analysis result of physi- cochemical properties of sericin suggested that the main composition was protein with a concentration above 90%,and when using 75% chilled alcohol to extract sericin,the solubility was decreased,ash content,and the bad smell from the silk was removed.The conformation of sericin was studied by circular dichroism and infrared spectrum analysis.The results suggested that the major conformation of sericin was random coil, and was changed by increasing the percentage ofβturn.The present study implied that chilled alcohol precipi- tation method was easy to operate as well as efficient.
