Abstract:When lignosulfonate is used as surfactant in oil-water systems, it can not produce high interfacial activity and therefore is ineffective. To enhance interfacial activity and oil recovery efficiency, hydrophobic groups are introduced into lignin molecules to produce modified lignosulfonate (I), which are of very high surface and interfacial activity and can produce ultra-low interfacial tension when mixed with petroleum sulfonate (II). Transient interfacial tension (IFT) behavior is studied to prove that higher ratio of (I) in mixtures of (I) and (II) and higher surfactant concentration cause shorter time reaching the lowest IFT and very high NaOH concentration produces high IFT.
