Cololejeunea Zangii (hepaticae, Lejeuneaceae), a New Epiphyllous Species from China

Abstract:Chlorocolea R. M. Schust., a small epiphyllous subgenus of the genus Cololejeunea (Hepaticae, Lejeuneaceae), hitherto comprised eight species. It is well characterized and easily recognized by the delicate plants, sigmoid marginal cells of the leaf lobe, and greatly reduced leaf lobules. Cololejeunea zangii R. L. Zhu & M. L. So, an additional species of this subgenus from China, is described as a species new to science. C. zangii primarily differs from other members of this subgenus by the absence of gynoecial innovations. A key is provided for all known species of subg. Chlorocolea. Chlorocolea R. M. Schust., a small epiphyllous sub- genus of the genus Cololejeunea (Spruce) Schiffn., was proposed by Schuster (1963). It is well char- acterized and easily recognized by its very delicate plants, sigmoid marginal cells of the leaf lobe, and greatly reduced leaf lobules. Tixier (1985) reduced Chlorocolea to sectional level in the subgenus Pedi- nolejeunea (Benedix) Mizut., and he put seven spe- cies in the section.
