Abstract:In some off-resonant cases, the reduced density matrix of two atoms symmetrically coupled with an optical cavity can very approximately approach maximally entangled mixed states or maximal Bell violation mixed states in their evolution. The influence of a phase decoherence on the generation of a maximally entangled mixed state is also discussed.

Abstract:We propose a scheme to generate four-mode multiphoton entangled states by passing N identical atoms through two high-Q cavities in turn. In the case of N=1, the scheme can deterministically generate Einstein-Podosky-Rosen entangled photon pairs. We use adiabatical state evolution under large atom-cavity detuning, so the scheme is insensitive to atomic spontaneous decay. The influence of cavity decay on fidelity and success probability is also discussed.

Abstract:We propose a scheme to generate four Bell states and a four-atom entangled cluster state in a thermal cavity. The photon-number-dependent parts in the effective Hamiltonian are canceled with the assistance of a strong classical field. The cavity field is only virtually excited; no quantum information will be transferred from the atoms to the cavity and thus the scheme is insensitive to the cavity decay and the thermal field. The scheme can also be used to generate the cluster state for the trapped ions.

Abstract:We propose a scheme for generating maximally entangled states for three atoms trapped in three distant cavities connected by two identical single-mode fibers. During the operation, neither the atomic system nor the fibers are excited, which is important in view of decoherence. Under certain conditions, the probability of the excited cavities can be negligible. Taking advantage of adiabatic passage, the GHZ state can be generated deterministically, and the fidelity of entanglement is insensitive to fluctuation of experimental parameters. Compared to the previous schemes, the significant advantage of the proposed scheme is that each cavity can interact with the other two directly, which can avoid the effect of indirect interaction brought about using only local quantum operator and nonlocal resources.

Abstract:We propose a scheme to generate a 3 x 3-dimensional maximally entangled state of two particles. Two three-level atoms interact with a strongly detuned cavity so that the cavity is only virtually excited and efficient decoherence time of the cavity is greatly prolonged. Compared to other protocols, this protocol is simpler and has a higher fidelity.

Abstract:We propose a method to generate the entangled quantum states of a field via the nonresonant interaction of a two-level atom with a two-mode field. When the detuning between the atomic transition frequency and the frequency of each mode is much larger than the coupling constant, the photon statistical distribution of the field will not be changed during the interaction of the atom with the field, while the phase of the field will evolve with time. By state-selective measurements on the atom, we can produce the entangled coherent states of the field if the two modes of the field are both in the coherent states initially. Entanglements of other states can also be generated by this method.

Abstract:We propose a scheme to prepare the Bell states for atomic qubits trapped in separate optical cavities via atom-cavity-laser interaction. The quantum information of each qubit is encoded on the degenerate ground states of the atom, so the entanglement between them is relatively stable against spontaneous emission. The proposed scheme consists of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) with two arms, and each arm contains a cavity with an N-type atom in it. It requires two classical fields and a single-photon source. By controlling the sequence and time of atom-cavity-laser interaction, the deterministic production of the atomic Bell states is shown. We also introduce the generalization of the present scheme to generate the 2N-atom Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state.

Abstract:We propose a scheme for the generation of two-mode entangled states between two spatially separated cavities. It utilizes a two-level atom sequentially coupling to two high-Q cavities with a strong classical driving field. It is shown that by suitably choosing the intensities and detunings of the fields and coherent control of the dynamics, several different entangled states such as entangled coherent states and Bell states can be produced between the modes of the two cavities.

Abstract:Here we present a quantum electrodynamics model involving a large-detuned single-mode cavity field and n identical two-level atoms. One of its applications for the generation of multiparticle entangled states of various kinds (Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states and different class of so-called W states) is analyzed. The theoretical prediction for the model of $n=2$ is made that is consistent with the experimental result by considering the possible three-atom collisions.

Abstract:A scheme is presented for preparing multi-atom entangled states based on the Raman atom-cavity-fieId interaction. After several degenerate Lambda-type three-level atoms interact with an appropriately prepared single-mode cavity field through Raman coupling. a two-level atom. resonant with the cavity, is sent through the cavity and a Ramsey zone. The detection of the two-level atom leaves the Lambda-type atoms in an entangled state.

Abstract:We present a simple scheme to realize a highly controlled and selective atom-field interaction in cavity quantum electrodynamics system. It is shown that, based on such a selective interaction, nontrivial Dicke states of N trapped neutral atoms can be produced step by step in an optical cavity with a very high fidelity in the presence of the cavity decay. The scheme does not need a single-photon source and its injection into an optical cavity, and the atomic spontaneous emission is strongly suppressed due to a large atom-field detuning.

Abstract:Here we present a quantum electrodynamics (QED) model involving a large-detuned single-mode cavity field and $n$ identical two-level atoms. One of its applications for the preparation of the multi-particle states is analyzed. In addition to the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state, the W class states can also be generated in this scheme. The further analysis for the experiment of the model of $n=2$ case is also presented by considering the possible three-atom collision.

Engineering Entangled Schrodinger Cat States of Separated Cavity Modes in Cavity-QED

Abstract:We provide a scheme by utilizing a two-cavity setup to generate useful quantum mechanically entangled states of two cavity fields, which themselves are prepared in Schrodinger cat states. The underlying atom-field interaction is considered off-resonant and three atoms are successively sent through the cavities, initially fed with coherent fields. Analytical solution of the protocol, followed by conditional measurements on the atoms, produce a family of eight such entangled states. Entanglement properties of the obtained states are characterized by the Von Neumann entropy. We reveal the parameter domain for tuning the entanglement, the prime tuning parameters being the atom-field interaction time and the field amplitudes. The parameter domains for both quasi-Bell and non quasi-Bell states are discussed. We also present a Wigner phase space representation of the reduced state of the cavity, showing negative values and interference patterns similar to those of a compass state, used in quantum precision measurements, and despite its large entropy.

Abstract:We propose a scheme to unconditionally entangle the internal states of atoms trapped in separate high-finesse optical cavities. The scheme uses the technique of quantum reservoir engineering in a cascaded cavity-QED setting, and for ideal (lossless) coupling between the cavities generates an entangled pure state. Highly entangled states are also shown to be possible for realizable cavity-QED parameters and with nonideal coupling.

Abstract:We present a method to generate entangled Fock states of two nonlocal cavity modes with different frequencies. We send an atom with three levels g, e, and f across two cavities. The atomic transition frequency between level g and e is resonant with the first cavity frequency, while the atomic transition frequency between level g and f is resonant with the second cavity frequency. The detection of the atomic state leaves the pure field in an entangled Fock state.
