Abstract:A highly regioselective iodosulfonylation of allenes in the presence of CuI and 1,10-phenanthroline has been developed for the synthesis of various useful ( E)-α-iodomethyl vinylsulfones in moderate to excellent yields. This practical reaction is fast, operationally simple, and in particular, proceeds under very mild conditions to afford the target products with high regio- and stereoselectivity. The selectivity was illustrated by a conceptual DFT analysis.

Abstract:A mild and general procedure for the difluoromethylation of organochalcogen compounds has been accomplished via sulfoxide and selenoxide-directed [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement/Haller-Bauer reaction with difluoroenoxysilanes. The reactions showed good functional group compatibility, wide substrate applicability, and facile scalability. The synthetic utility is highlighted by the iterative use of this protocol to construct multi-CF2H-containing chalcogenides and the late-stage modification of pharmaceuticals.

Abstract:An efficient copper-catalyzed regio- and chemoselective multicomponent reaction of 1,6-enynes, diselenides, DABCO center dot(SO2)(2) and cycloketone oxime esters is described. Under mild conditions, this protocol exhibits a broad substrate scope and high functional group compatibility, enabling rapid access to cyanoalkylsulfonylated pyrrolidines in moderate to good yields. This radical-triggered cyclization reaction allows the formation of four new bonds including the C-SO2, C-C and C-Se bonds in a single step. A plausible mechanism is proposed on the basis of control experiments, and a cyanoalkylsulfonyl radical species is involved during the reaction process.

Abstract:The activation of disulfides by Cu(II) salts has been realized, which triggers a highly efficient electrophilic sulfenoamination of alkenes under aerobic conditions. Various sulfenyl N-heterocycles and their Selena counterparts were produced regioselectively, with no competing disulfidation products detected. Mechanistic studies suggest a profound influence of the counterions on the Lewis acidic copper center, and the important roles of oxygen and DMSO as co-oxidants for these cyclization processes.

Abstract:(Z)-1-Chloro-1-seleno-1-enes have been synthesized regio- and stereoselectively by the reaction of lithium chloride in HOAc with acetylenic selenides. In the presence of 5% mmol of PdCl2(PhCN)(2) and 10% mmol of CuI, (Z)-1-chloro-1-seleno-1-enes coupled with terminal acetylene rapidly to give selenoenynes in high yields.

Abstract:The reactivity of aryl selenoamides toward alkyl halide was investigated in Et3N-CHCl3.Surprisingly,it was found that the dialkyl selenides as major product with a trace of dialkyl diselenide as sideproduct were obtained by the reaction of aryl selenoamide with benzyl chloride at 1∶1 molar ratio,and dialkyl diselenide was formed as major product with a trace dialkyl selenide as sideproduct by the reaction of aryl selenoamide with benzyl chloride at 1∶2 molar ratio in Et3N-CHCl3.It is different from the reaction of selenoamides with alkyl halides in benzene/ethanol.This reaction provides not only a new selenium transfer reaction but also a new method for synthesis of dialkyl selenides and dialkyl diselenides.

Abstract:A transition metal‐free Se‐catalyzed C‐H amination protocol for α’‐amination of enol derivatives has been developed. This reaction can be used to functionalize a wide variety of oxygen‐ and halogen‐substituted alkenes spanning a vast range of nucleophilicities, giving α’‐aminated enol derivatives with high regioselectivity. Amination of E/Z mixtures of alkenes proceeds stereoconvergently to give the (Z)‐enol derivatives exclusively. Mechanistic studies revealed that the relative reactivity and α’‐regioselectivity of these transformations is determined by substantial resonance donation to the heteroatom‐bound carbon in the transition state. These products participate in traditional reactions of enol derivatives, allowing for efficient functionalization of both α‐ and α’‐positions from a single enol derivative with high diastereocontrol.

Abstract:A direct selenylation of N‐arylsulfonamides and anilides using environmentally friendly and readily available copper promoted assisted by amide is presented. This method provided convenient access for various selenylation reactions, demonstrating a wide range of substrates and strong tolerance to various functional groups. According to the selection of reaction substrates, products can be isolated to obtain a regioselectivity ortho‐, para‐, or unprecedented ortho, para‐diselenylation products. Such transformation was elucidated by a proposed copper‐promoted amide‐assisted radical mechanism.
