Abstract:The authors present a necessary and sufficient condition for the completeness of any partial dyadic wavelet transform domain representation (PDWTDR) of discrete finite data length signals (including dyadic wavelet transform extrema and zero-crossing representations). It is shown that completeness depends only on the locations of the retained samples of the dyadic wavelet transform. The present completeness test is more convenient and easier to verify than previously derived tests. It is also shown how to ensure the completeness of the representation by adding additional information in those cases where the PDWTDR is incomplete. The numerical stability of such a representation is also discussed. A fast-Fourier-transform (FFT)-based reconstruction algorithm from such a signal representation is also described.<>

Abstract:The classical domain of type one has an unbounded realization as the Siegel domain D (Φ, Ω) by the Cayley transform. Let P be the Iwasawa subgroup of the affine automorphisms group of D (Φ, Ω), then P has a natural unitary representation U on L^2 ( ) . We decompose L^2 ( ) into the direct sum of the irreducible invariant closed subspaces under U, and give the characterization of the admissible condition in terms of the Fourier transform. Define the wavelet transform, we obtain the direct sum decomposition of L 2 ( D (Φ, Ω), dμ).
A New Method of Constructions of Non-Tensor Product Wavelets

Abstract:In this paper, we give a new method of constructions of non-tensor product wavelets. We start from the one-dimensional scaling functions to directly construct the two-dimensional non-tensor product wavelets. The wavelets constructed by us possess very simple, explicit representations and high regularity, and various symmetry (i.e., axial symmetry, central symmetry, and cyclic symmetry). Using this method, we construct various non-tensor product wavelets and show that there exists a sequence of non-tensor product wavelets with high regularity which tends to the tensor product Shannon wavelet in the L (2)-norm.

Abstract:Let D(Ω,Φ) be the affine homogeneous Siegel domain of type II, whose Silov boundary N is a nilpotent Lie group of step two. In this article, we develop the theory of wavelet analysis on N . By selecting a set of mutual orthogonal wavelets we give a direct sum decomposition of L2(D(Ω,Φ)), the first component A0,0 of which is the Bergman space. Moreover, we study the Radon transform on N , and obtain an inversion formula R−1 = (π)−2dLRL which is an extension of that by Strichartz [R. S. Strichartz, L harmonic analysis and Radon transforms on the Heisenberg group, J. Funct. Anal. 96 (1991), 350–406.]. We devise a subspace of L2(N) on which the Radon transform is a bijection. Using wavelet inverse transform, we establish an inversion formula of the Radon transform in the weak sense.

Abstract:Ocneanu's tube algebra provides a finite algorithm to compute the Drinfeld center of a fusion category. In this work we reveal the universal property underlying the tube algebra. Take a base category $\mathcal V$ which is concrete, bicomplete, and symmetric closed monoidal. For physical applications one takes $\mathcal V=\mathbf{Vec}$ the category of vector spaces. Given a $\mathcal V$-enriched monoidal category $\mathcal C$ (not necessarily finite or semisimple) we define the tube category $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ using coends valued in $\mathcal V$. Our main theorem established the relation between (the category of representations of) the tube category $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ and the Drinfeld center $Z(\mathcal C)$: When $\mathcal C$ is pivotal, we prove that $Z(\mathcal C)\hookrightarrow \mathrm{Fun}(\mathbb X \mathcal C^{\mathrm{op}},\mathcal V)\cong Z(\mathrm{Fun}(\mathcal C^{\mathrm{op}},\mathcal V))$. Physically, besides viewing the tube category as a version of TFT with domain being the tube, we emphasize the "Wick-rotated" perspective, that the morphisms in $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ are the local tensors of fixed-point matrix product operators which preserves the symmetry $\mathcal C$ in one spatial dimension. We provide a first-principle flavored construction, from microscopic quantum degrees of freedom and operators perserving the symmetry, to the macroscopic universal properties of the symmetry which form the Drinfeld center. Our work is thus a proof to the 1+1D topological holography in a very general setting.

Abstract:In this paper, Daubechies (DB) wavelet is used for solution of 2D large deformation problems. Because the DB wavelet scaling functions are directly used as basis function, no meshes are needed in function approximation. Using the DB wavelet, the solution formulations based on total Lagrangian approach for two-dimensional large deformation problems are established. Due to the lack of Kroneker delta properties in wavelet scaling functions, Lagrange multipliers are used for imposition of boundary condition. Numerical examples of 2D large deformation problems illustrate that this method is effective and stable.
Donoho-Logan large sieve principles for the wavelet transform

Abstract:In this paper we formulate Donoho and Logan's large sieve principle for the wavelet transform on the Hardy space, adapting the concept of maximum Nyquist density to the hyperbolic geometry of the underlying space. The results provide deterministic guarantees for $L_{1}$-minimization methods and hold for a class of mother wavelets which constitute an orthonormal basis of the Hardy space and can be associated with higher hyperbolic Landau levels. Explicit calculations of the basis functions reveal a connection with the Zernike polynomials. We prove a novel local reproducing formula for the spaces in consideration and use it to derive concentration estimates of the large sieve type for the corresponding wavelet transforms. We conclude with a discussion of optimality of localization in the analytic case by building on recent results of Kulikov, Ramos and Tilli based on the groundbreaking methods of Nicola and Tilli. This leads to a sharp uncertainty principle and a local Lieb inequality for the wavelet transform.

Abstract:In continuous-time wavelet analysis, most wavelet present some kind of symmetry. Based on the Fourier and Hartley transform kernels, a new wavelet multiresolution analysis is proposed. This approach is based on a pair of orthogonal wavelet functions and is named as the Fourier-Like and Hartley-Like wavelet analysis. A Hilbert transform analysis on the wavelet theory is also included.

Abstract:We present a unified group-theoretical derivation of the Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) on the circle $\mathbb S^1$ and the real line $\mathbb{R}$, following the general formalism of Coherent States (CS) associated to unitary square integrable (modulo a subgroup, possibly) representations of the group $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$. A general procedure for obtaining unitary representations of a group $G$ of affine transformations on a space of signals $L^2(X,dx)$ is described, relating carrier spaces $X$ to (first or higher-order) ``polarization subalgebras'' ${\cal P}_X$. We also provide explicit admissibility and continuous frame conditions for wavelets on $\mathbb S^1$ and discuss the Euclidean limit in terms of group contraction.

Abstract:Let $(\pP,\wt\pP)$ be a pair of $r \times s$ matrices of Laurent polynomials with symmetry such that $\pP(z) \wt\pP^*(z)=I_\mrow$ for all $z\in \CC \bs \{0\}$ and both $\pP$ and $\wt\pP$ have the same symmetry pattern that is compatible. The biorthogonal matrix extension problem with symmetry is to find a pair of $s \times s$ square matrices $(\pP_e,\wt\pP_e)$ of Laurent polynomials with symmetry such that $[I_r, \mathbf{0}] \pP_e =\pP$ and $[I_r,\mathbf{0}]\wt\pP_e=\wt\pP$ (that is, the submatrix of the first $r$ rows of $\pP_e,\wt\pP_e$ is the given matrix $\pP,\wt\pP$, respectively), $\pP_e$ and $\wt\pP_e$ are biorthogonal satisfying $\pP_e(z)\wt\pP_e^*(z)=I_\mcol$ for all $z\in \CC \bs \{0\}$, and $\pP_e,\wt\pP_e$ have the same compatible symmetry. In this paper, we satisfactorily solve this matrix extension problem with symmetry by constructing the desired pair of extension matrices $(\pP_e,\wt\pP_e)$ from the given pair of matrices $(\pP,\wt\pP)$. Matrix extension plays an important role in many areas such as wavelet analysis, electronic engineering, system sciences, and so on. As an application of our general results on matrix extension with symmetry, we obtain a satisfactory algorithm for constructing symmetric biorthogonal multiwavelets by deriving high-pass filters with symmetry from any given pair of biorthgonal low-pass filters with symmetry. Several examples of symmetric biorthogonal multiwavelets are provided to illustrate the results in this paper.

Abstract:We introduce a class of generalized tube algebras which describe how finite, non-invertible global symmetries of bosonic 1+1d QFTs act on operators which sit at the intersection point of a collection of boundaries and interfaces. We develop a 2+1d symmetry topological field theory (SymTFT) picture of boundaries and interfaces which, among other things, allows us to deduce the representation theory of these algebras. In particular, we initiate the study of a character theory, echoing that of finite groups, and demonstrate how many representation-theoretic quantities can be expressed as partition functions of the SymTFT on various backgrounds, which in turn can be evaluated explicitly in terms of generalized half-linking numbers. We use this technology to explain how the torus and annulus partition functions of a 1+1d QFT can be refined with information about its symmetries. We are led to a vast generalization of Ishibashi states in CFT: to any multiplet of conformal boundary conditions which transform into each other under the action of a symmetry, we associate a collection of generalized Ishibashi states, in terms of which the twisted sector boundary states of the theory and all of its orbifolds can be obtained as linear combinations. We derive a generalized Verlinde formula involving the characters of the boundary tube algebra which ensures that our formulas for the twisted sector boundary states respect open-closed duality. Our approach does not rely on rationality or the existence of an extended chiral algebra; however, in the special case of a diagonal RCFT with chiral algebra $V$ and modular tensor category $\mathscr{C}$, our formalism produces explicit closed-form expressions - in terms of the $F$-symbols and $R$-matrices of $\mathscr{C}$, and the characters of $V$ - for the twisted Cardy states, and the torus and annulus partition functions decorated by Verlinde lines.

Symmetric Lifting Factorization and Matrix Representation of Biorthogonal Wavelet Transforms.

Abstract:This paper introduces some properties of symmetric Laurent polynomials, and then extends Euclidean algorithm to symmetric Laurent polynomials. The new results are used to investigate factorization of polyphase matrix for biorthogonal finite filters. It is shown that there exists one and only one symmetric factorization of the polyphase matrix, and the symmetric factorization can be determined directly and efficiently by Euclidean algorithm for symmetric Laurent polynomials. Finally, symmetric implementation and matrix representation of biorthogonal wavelet transforms are introduced, and the study demonstrates that the symmetric implementation has the least multiplication number in all lifting implementations, and it is equivalent to a matrix transform on finite dimensional vector space.
