Abstract:Lorenz systems family unifying Lorenz system, Chen system and Lu system is a typical chaotic family. In this paper, we consider impulsive control Lorenz chaotic systems family with time-varying impulse intervals. By establishing an effective tool of a set of inequalities, we analyze the asymptotic stability of impulsive control Lorenz systems family and obtain some new less conservative conditions. Based on the stability analysis, we design a novel impulsive controller with time-varying impulse intervals. Illustrative examples are provided to show the feasibility and effectiveness of our method. The obtained results not only can be used to design impulsive control for Lorenz systems family, but also can be extended to other chaotic systems.

Abstract:This note studies the stability of impulsive control systems. A new comparison theorem for asymptotic stability of impulsive differential system is presented. Based on the new result, we derive some less conservative conditions for asymptotic stability of impulsive control systems with impulses at fixed times and the results are used to design impulsive control for a class of nonlinear systems. The class of nonlinear systems considered is also enlarged.

Abstract:Real systems are often subject to both noise perturbations and impulsive effects. In this paper, we study the stability and stabilization of systems with both noise perturbations and impulsive effects. In other words, we generalize the impulsive control theory from the deterministic case to the stochastic case. The method is based on extending the comparison method to the stochastic case. The method presented in this paper is general and easy to apply. Theoretical results on both stability in the pth mean and stability with disturbance attenuation are derived. To show the effectiveness of the basic theory, we apply it to the impulsive control and synchronization of chaotic systems with noise perturbations, and to the stability of impulsive stochastic neural networks. Several numerical examples are also presented to verify the theoretical results.

Abstract:The issue of a novel finite-time stability and stabilization design for a class of nonlinear impulsive systems is discussed in this paper. In previous finite-time control designs for impulsive systems, the convergence rate of these control strategies is even less rapid than the exponential convergence rate when the initial state is distant from the origin. To overcome this problem, two sufficient conditions for the novel finite-time stability of impulsive systems are presented, in which the stabilizing impulses and the destabilizing impulses are considered, respectively. Meanwhile, the upper bound of the settling-time is evaluated. In addition, combining Lyapunov functions theory with impulsive control, we design a controller for impulsive dynamical systems to satisfy the novel finite-time stability. Finally, two simulation examples are given, in which the first example demonstrates the superiority of the proposed finite-time stability criterion for nonlinear impulsive systems by comparing it with traditional finite-time stability, and the second example verifies the effectiveness of the presented controller.

Abstract:Passive equivalence control method is proposed for controlling uncertain Lorenz system to stabilize at the quilibrium point based on the unknown parameters identification. Using the descend method, the time series of the Lorenz system are used to identify the system's unknown parameters. After that, an important property of passive system is studied to control Lorenz chaotic system, that is, passive system can be asymptotically stabilized by state feedback controller. Simulation results indicated that the proposed chaos control method is very effective and feasible in controlling uncertain Lorenz chaotic systems.

Abstract:This paper studies impulsive control of a class of uncertain systems with small time delay. Some robust stability criteria for impulsive delay differential system are presented, based on which the impulsive control law can be easily designed. Our technique depends on Lyapunov's direct method and comparison principle. Finally, we present the estimate of the upper bound of the uncertain constant time delay and impulse interval for robust asymptotically stable impulsive control.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the issue of finite-time stability for a general form of nonlinear systems subject to state-dependent delayed impulsive controller. Based on the Lyapunov theory and the impulsive control theory, sufficient conditions for finite-time stability (FTS) and finite-time contractive stability (FTCS) are obtained. Additionally, we apply theoretical results to finite-time synchronization of chaotic systems and design the effective state-dependent delayed impulsive controllers in terms of techniques of linear matrix inequality (LMI). Finally, we present two numerical examples of finite-time synchronization of cellular neural networks and Chua’s circuit to verify the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:A whole impulsive control scheme of nonlinear systems with time-varying delays, which is an extension for impulsive control of nonlinear systems without time delay, is presented in this paper. Utilizing the Lyapunov functions and the impulsive-type comparison principles, we establish a series of different conditions under which impulsively controlled nonlinear systems with time-varying delays are asymptotically stable. Then we estimate upper bounds of impulse interval and time-varying delays for asymptotically stable control. Finally a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

Abstract:An impulsive control scheme to stabilize nonlinear systems with exponential decay rate is presented in this paper. By utilizing different Lyapunov functions and some inequalities, we establish several theorems on the stability of impulsive delay systems and find novel conditions under which impulsively controlled nonlinear delay systems are globally exponentially stable. Then a novel impulsive controller design procedure to globally exponentially stabilize nonlinear delay systems is presented. Finally numerical simulation is given to illustrate feasibility and effectiveness of our method.

Abstract:This paper studies the stabilization for a kind of linear and impulse control systems in finite-dimensional spaces, where impulse instants appear periodically. We present several characterizations on the stabilization; show how to design feedback laws; and provide locations for impulse instants to ensure the stabilization. In the proofs of these results, we set up a discrete LQ problem; derived a discrete dynamic programming principle, built up a variant of Riccati's equation; applied repeatedly the Kalman controllability decomposition; and used a controllability result built up in [17].

Abstract:Impulsive differential systems are an important class of mathematical models for many practical systems in physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, and information science which exhibit impulsive dynamical behaviors due to abrupt changes at certain instants during the dynamical processes. In this paper, controllability and reachability of linear piecewise constant impulsive systems are studied. Necessary and sufficient criteria for reachability and controllability are established, respectively. It is proved that reachability is equivalent to controllability for such systems under some mild conditions. Our criteria are in geometric forms, they can be transformed into algebraic type conveniently.

Furthermore, there exist impulses at the switching instants. A switched quadratic Lyapunov function is introduced to check asymptotic stability of such systems. Two equivalent necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such a Lyapunov function are established, respectively. The conditions are in linear matrix inequality form and can be used to solve stabilization synthesis problem. The results are extended to the uncertain systems case as well.

Abstract:SummaryThis paper presents a general framework for analyzing stability of linear impulsive stochastic systems (LISSs). Some simple mean square stability criteria for the three types of LISSs are firstly derived by analyzing an equivalent system. By exploring the hybrid characteristics of impulsive systems, the novel quasi‐periodic composite polynomial Lyapunov function and the time‐varying discretized Lyapunov function are developed, which leads to unified dwell‐time–based criteria for mean square stability and almost sure stability of LISSs without imposing the stability condition on continuous‐ and discrete‐time dynamics. Next, based on the established stability criteria, the synthesis problem of state‐feedback controller is solved. The computational complexity and the comparison with existing results on the deterministic systems are discussed. Finally, numerical examples are provided to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed results.

Abstract:The stabilization problem of delay systems is studied under the delay-dependent impulsive control. The main contributions of this technical note are that, for one thing, it shows that time delays in impulse term may contribute to the stabilization of delay systems, that is, a control strategy which does not work without delay feedback in impulse term can be activated to stabilize some unstable delay systems if there exist some time delay feedbacks; for another, it shows the robustness of impulsive control, that is, the designed control strategy admits the existence of some time delays in impulse term which may do harm to the stabilization. In this technical note, from impulsive control point of view we firstly propose an impulsive delay inequality. Then we apply it to the delay systems which may be originally unstable, and derive some delay-dependent impulsive control criteria to ensure the stabilization of the addressed systems. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is evidenced by two illustrative examples.

Abstract:This article studies Lyapunov stability for nonlinear systems based on discrete-time self-triggered impulsive control (STIC). With the help of comparison approach, some Lyapunov-based sufficient conditions guaranteeing nonZeno behavior and global asymptotic stability of nonlinear systems under STIC are derived. Different from the existing self-triggered mechanisms using implicit expressions to compute the next impulse instant, which may result in computational burden, we propose a novel discrete-time self-triggered mechanism (STM) by which the next impulse instant can be predicted directly by the information of the comparison system. Moreover, the resulting algorithm is easy to be implemented. It is shown that the designed STIC strategy can not only achieve a tradeoff between computational complexity, communication resource usage and control performance, but also has strong robustness and flexibility. Finally, an illustrative simulation is provided showing the effectiveness of the results.
