Abstract:This paper studies the stabilization for a kind of linear and impulse control systems in finite-dimensional spaces, where impulse instants appear periodically. We present several characterizations on the stabilization; show how to design feedback laws; and provide locations for impulse instants to ensure the stabilization. In the proofs of these results, we set up a discrete LQ problem; derived a discrete dynamic programming principle, built up a variant of Riccati's equation; applied repeatedly the Kalman controllability decomposition; and used a controllability result built up in [17].
Optimization and Control
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the stabilization problem of a class of linear and impulsive control systems, where the impulsive moments occur periodically. Specifically, the paper focuses on the following main problems: 1. **What are the characteristics of the ℏ -stability of the system (A, {Bk}ℏ, Λℏ)?** - The paper studies how to determine whether a given linear and impulsive control system can be stabilized, that is, whether there exists a series of feedback control laws such that the closed - loop system is stable. 2. **When the system (A, {Bk}ℏ, Λℏ) is ℏ -stable, how to design the feedback control law?** - If the system is ℏ -stable, the paper provides specific methods for designing the feedback control law to ensure the stability of the system. 3. **What are the characteristics of the ℏ -stability of the dual (A, {Bk}ℏ)?** - The paper also explores how to determine whether a pair of matrices (A, {Bk}ℏ) can be stabilized by choosing appropriate impulsive moments in the absence of specific impulsive moments. 4. **When the dual (A, {Bk}ℏ) is ℏ -stable, how to choose Λℏ so that (A, {Bk}ℏ, Λℏ) is ℏ -stable?** - If the dual (A, {Bk}ℏ) is ℏ -stable, the paper provides methods for choosing the impulsive moment Λℏ to ensure the stability of the entire system (A, {Bk}ℏ, Λℏ). The solutions to these problems are of great significance for understanding and designing the stabilization strategies of periodic impulsive control systems. The paper gives detailed answers to these problems by establishing discrete LQ problems, deriving the discrete dynamic programming principle, constructing variants of Riccati equations, and applying Kalman controllability decomposition methods.
