Abstract:In extremely dense system controlling H 2O/ Si �� 5 from amorphous gel Na 2O- SiO 2- CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromite)-H 2O, the synthesis conditions of mesoporous molecular sieve Si-MCM-41 have been studied. Molecular sieve Si-MCM-41 have been prepared in H 2O/Si=1. 0-5. 0, CTAB/Si= 0. 0125-0. 125, Na/Si = 0. 05 - 0. 15. The characteristic of the method is clearly decreasing consumption amount of CTAB. As-synthesized samples have been characterized by XRD, SEM, TG-DTA and N 2 adsorption isothermals. These demonstrated that products possess typical properties of molecular sieve MCM-41.

Abstract:In the extreme dense system of H 2O/Si��8.0, the influences of auxiliary alkanes - n-hexane, n-heptane, i-octane and n-octadecane to the synthesise of mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-41 have been studied. The experiments demonstrated that auxiliary alkanes possessed promoting function for preparing molecular sieve MCM-41 with more than 4nm pore diameter in system with very low H 2O synthesized samples have been charaterized by XRD, SEM and N 2 isothermal adsorption. These demonstrated that the products possessed typical properties of MCM-41 molecular sieve.

Abstract:Mesoporous Fe-MCM-41 materials were synthesized by using ionic liquid 1-cethyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([C(16)mim]Br-+(-)) as template at room temperature and characterized by X-ray diffraction, N-2 adsorption-desorption, FT-IR, EPR, UV-Vis. Results show that these mesoporous materials possess high surface area. The pore size distributions of Fe-MCM-41 show that there are two types mesoporous. Part of iron atom still retain in the framework after removal of the template by calcination except those transferring to the wall surface. Fe species on wall surface are, of high dispersion. This indicates that stable framework-iron containing mesoporous molecular sieves Fe-MCM-41 can be successfully synthesized.

Abstract:Mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-48 was prepared hydrothermally with CTAB, NaOH, TEOS as source materials. Characterization results obtained from the determination of XRD, TEM, Nz-adsorption, IR spectra and TG-DTA show that the products possess similar structure properties as those reported in literatures, Various synthesis parameters, including crystallization time, crystallization temperature and starting gel composition, have been studied. It was found that the crystallization temperature of 373 K was preferable, lower temperature leading to weak crystallinity, higher temperature leading to amorphous material. Crystallization time of 3 d was found suitable for MCM-48 formation, shorter time resulting in a low crystallinity, The influence of composition features such as n(H2O) / n(SiO2) and n(CTAB) / n(SiO2) on the product was studied.

Abstract:Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), 29Si magic-angle-spinning (MAS) NMR spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) as well as N2 adsorption have been employed to study the formation of various mesophases that lead to the synthesis of cubic mesoporous MCM-48 molecular sieve. A typical synthesis is performed at 373 K, pH = 11.8 using tetraethyl orthosilicate as the silicon source and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as the structure-directing agent with a molar gel composition of 1:0.23:0.55:112SiO2/Na2O/CTAB/H2O. XRD shows that a disordered tubular mesophase (H1) rapidly forms and then transforms to a layered phase (L1) upon heating at 373 K for 5−10 h. After the hydrothermal treatment continues for 72 h, the layered phase (L1) gradually transforms to a cubic MCM-48 mesophase (V), which is accompanied by a slight pH increase of about 0.2 units. Abstract:A range of mesoporous gallosilicate molecular sieves with the MCM-41 structure have been synthesized using gallium nitrate as the source of gallium and characterized in detail by elemental analysis, XRD, 71Ga and 29Si MAS NMR, N2 adsorption measurements, and TEM. The quality of the products is very sensitive to the pH of the gel mixture. Atomic absorption and XRD show that Ga and Si in the gel are incorporated into the MCM-41 structure in nearly equal proportions. 71Ga and 29Si NMR demonstrate that in all as-made samples gallium is 4-coordinate and forms a part of the MCM-41 structure. Although upon calcination gallium is partially expelled from the structure of samples with Si/Ga ≤ 20, Ga in samples with Si/Ga ≥ 30 is unaffected. N2 adsorption measurements and TEM demonstrate the high mesoporosity of gallosilicate MCM-41-30. The pore size distribution indicates that the structure of sample MCM-41-20 partially collapses upon calcination and macropores are formed.

Abstract:MCM-41 mesoporous molecular sieve was synthesized by microwave radiation method. The crystallization, crystalline morphology and stability of MCM-41 were investigated by means of XRD, SEM, IR, NMR and adsorption technique. The results showed that the induction period is very short, the crystallization rate is very high, and there is no crystalline conversion during the crystallization process. It was also found that MCM-41 synthesized in microwave condition had lower adsorption capacity but better ability for resisting heat, hydrothermal, acid and base treatment.

Abstract:The synthesis of AlMCM-41 molecular sieves with Si/Al ratios 14–32 is reported. Intermittent pH adjustments during synthesis may improve the long-range order of the mesopores. N2 adsorption and27Al MAS NMR experiments reveal that all the AlMCM-41 samples contain a small amount of aluminum-rich extra-framework species both inside and outside the mesoporous channels after calcination. The proton exchanged AlMCM-41 catalysts are weak-medium acidic, and are catalytically active for isopropanol dehydration at moderate temperature and for cumene cracking at high temperature.

Abstract:Preparation of mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-41 with complementary textural porosity and high thermal stability that results from thicker wall has been achieved by decreasing surfactant/silicon ratio of synthesis gel. MCM-41 material obtained by using the surfactant/silicon molar ratio of 0.10 consists of large and well-defined spherical particles. A further decrease in the ratio results in the formation of MCM-41 silica with the bimodal framework meopores and complementary textural porosity. The textural porosity results from the loose aggregate structure. The resultant materials retain ordered channels and large BET surface area even after thermal treatment at 1273 K for 1 h in air. The complementary textural porosity decreases the length of the one-dimensional mesopores and provides the facilitating framework access for the diffusion of mass.

Abstract:The mesoporous molecular sieve Al-MCM-41 is prepared in ammonia water by hydrothermal crystallization,using cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(CTABr) as structural template agent,tetraethyl orthosilioate(TOES) as silica source and aluminum chlorhydrexusp(AlCl3·6H2O) as aluminum source.The effects of the ratio of reaction substances and the synthesis conditions on the crystal structure of Al-MCM-41 are studied by X-ray diffraction characterization.The synthesized samples are characterized by nitrogen adsorption and infrared spectra analysis.The results show that the mesoporous molecular sieve of high crystallinity,uniform mesopore distribution and great specific surface area can be synthesized when the ammonia concentration of the reaction system is 5~10 mol/L,the substance amount ratio of CTABr to TOES is 0.3,and the crystallizing time is 72 h at 120 ℃.

Abstract:Mesoporous silicates synthesized in strongly basic media from sodium silicate in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride, a cationic surfactant. The formation of a lamellar phase and its transformation into hexagonal MCM-41 were studied by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Si-29 magic-angle-spinning (MAS) NMR and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The gel mixture (pH > 14) is transparent. Upon acidification, a layered phase with interplanar spacing d = 35 Angstrom rapidly forms at pH = 13 and gradually transforms into the lamellar phase with d = 31 Angstrom. The Si-29 MAS NMR spectrum of the layered phase is broad and dominated by the resonance from Si(OSi)(3)O-M+ (Q(3)) structural units (M stands for the surfactant cation). The spectrum of the lamellar phase is well resolved with a more intense line from the Si(OSi)(4) (Q(4)) structural units, indicating a more regular atomic arrangement. The hexagonal phase is obtained at pH = 11.5 upon acidification of the gel, or when the pH of the intermediate product containing the lamellar phase is adjusted to 7-9 and the hydrothermal treatment continued. The hexagonal phase gives a broad Si-29 NMR spectrum dominated by the Q(4) resonance, indicating a less ordered local atomic arrangement in comparison with the lamellar phase. We suggest that the transformation is driven by the increasing reactivity of the silicate species with increasing acidity of the gel, which facilitates further aggregation of uncondensed silicate between the layers.

Abstract:A mesoporous molecular sieve was prepared by the hydrothermal synthesis method with symmetric Gemini surfactant 1,3-bis(hexadecyldimethylammonio)-propane dibromide, symmetric Gemini ionic liquid surfactant 1,3-bis(3-hexadecylimidazolium-1-yl) propane dibromide and self-designed asymmetric Gemini ionic liquid surfactant 1-(3-(hexadecyldimethylammonio)prop-1-yl)-3-hexadecylimidazolium dibromide as the template agent. The structure characterization results for mesoporous molecular sieves show that the material possesses a hexagonal pore structure with uniform channels. The mesoporous silica that was synthesized with self-designed asymmetric Gemini ionic liquid surfactant as the template agent possesses the largest surface area and its pore size and specific surface area are, respectively, 3.28 nm and 879.37 m2/g. The adsorption properties of the prepared MCM-41 for crystal violet were investigated, and the adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics were investigated. The results show that adsorption equilibrium can be reached under pH = 9 and 35 °C for 50 min, and the quantity of adsorption can reach up to 464.21 mg/g. The adsorption process belongs to Langmuir isothermal adsorption, conforming to second-order adsorption kinetics, and the adsorption process is an endothermic process.

Abstract:Effects of crystallization temperaure,dosage of structure directing agent,molar ratio of SiO_2 to Al_2O_3 and agitation on crystallization of MCM-22 molecular sieves were investigated and the molecular sieves were characterized by methods of X-ray diffraction (XRD),inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES),nitrogen adsorption and ammonia temperature programmed desorption (NH_3-TPD).The results showed that the pure MCM-22 molecular sieves were synthesized under the conditions of 135℃,moalr ratio of hexamethyleneimine (HMI) to SiO_2 0.75 and moalr ratio of SiO_2 to Al_2O_3 120.The MCM-22 molecular sieves,as methanol dehydration catalysts,were mechanically mixed with methanol synthesis catalysts to catalyze one-step synthesis of dimethyl ether from syngas.Over the MCM-22 molecular sieves with high molar ratio of SiO_2 to Al_2O_3,the selectivities of dimethyl ether,CO_2 and hydrocarbons were 67%,29% and 0.07% respectively.

Abstract:Mesoporous silica MCM-48 and MCM-41 were hydrothermally synthesized in alkaline medium by using mixed cationic-nonionic triblock copolymer surfactant (P123, 2-methyloxirane; oxirane; CAS No. 9003-11-6)as template. By altering the ratio of CTAB (cetyltriethylammonium bromide) to TEOS (tetraethoxysilane, tetraethyl silicate), the mesoporous molecular sieves were obtained with different Structures. The amount of CTAB can be largely decreased by adding P123 into the synthesis system. It is found that the molar ratios of CTAB/TEOS between 0.12 and 0.13 are favorable for the formation of highly ordered MCM-48 mesostructure and that of CTAB/TEOS between 0.04 and 0.08 are favorable for the formation of highly ordered MCM-41 mesostructure. XRD, TEM and N-2 sorption measurements show that the products have highly ordered mesostructure with high surface area, large pore volume and narrow pore size distribution.
[Synthesis and catalytic-isomerization performance of Al-MCM-41 mesoporous sieves]

Abstract:Al-MCM-41 mesoporous sieves were synthesized at the ambient temperature by using TEOS as silica source, Al(NO)3 x 9H2O as Al source, and cetyl trimethylammonium bromide as templating agent. The framework and surface structures of the synthesized samples were characterized by XRD, N2-adsorption/desorption isotherms, FTIR and SEM etc. The results showed that the samples were the typical Al-MCM-41 mesoporous sieves with the higher ordered-degree and specific surface area (up to 816 m2 x g(-1)) and the narrower pore diameter distribution. Controlling the highest value of Al/Si with the range of 0.06-0.13, and taking temperature programmed calcination would be beneficial to the formation of the highly ordered Al-MCM-41 mesoporous sieves. The evaluating results showed that the synthesized Al-MCM-41 molecular sieves have a higher catalytic activity for isomerization of endo-tetrahydrodicyclo-pentadiene (endo-TCD) into exo-tetrahydrodicyclo-pentadiene (exo-TCD) and adamantane.

Abstract:The conditions for hydrothermal systhesis of mesoporous molecular sieve MCM -41 have been studied in gel NaX(F-, Cl-, Br-)- Na2O - Al2O3- SiO2- CTAB - H2O. At a crystalline temperature of 398K, crystalline time of 8��16 days and NaX/SiO2 of 0.01�� 0.05 molecular sieve MCM -41 can be prepared. Addtion of NaF can accelate relative crystalline rate but NaBr results in prohibitive effect to the formation of molecular sieve MCM - 41. Characterizations using XRD, SEM, TG-DTA and N2 adsorption indicated that the synthesized samples possess the properties of mesoporous molecular sieve.

Abstract:Mesoporous aluminosilicates with the structure of MCM-41 have been synthesized in alkaline situation, by using the mixture of cationic and anionic surfactants in very low concentration (x_(surf)/x_(SiO_2)=0.07) as template and the gel containing secondary building units of Y zeolite as precursors. XRD, FT-IR and N_2 adsorption and desorption isotherms prove that this material has ordered hexagonal structure with Y zeolite secondary unit in its pore walls, which are thicker than the walls of MCM-41 materials synthesized by normal hydrothermal ways. SEM images shows a very unusual net-like morphology of the material, different from the common loose shape of MCM-41. After being treated in 100% water vapor at 600 ℃ for 10 h, the structure of mesopore can still be sustained, showing high hydrothermal stability.

Abstract:In the early 1990s, Mobil scientists and Japanese scientists separately reported the synthesis of mesostructured silicates that possess large uniform pore sizes (1.5-10 nm) high ordered nanochannels, large surface areas (∼ 1500 cu m/g) and attractive liquid crystal structures. These characteristics offer mesoporous molecular sieves good opportunities in hydrogen storage, catalysis, etc. A discussion covers the surfactant-templating approach for the synthesis of ordered mesoporous molecular sieves; synthesis pathways; corresponding mechanisms; key factors for the synthesis including the selection of surfactants, hydrothermal method, EISA strategy, the control of mesostructures, and the adjustment of pore sizes and morphologies; and applications of mesoporous materials.

Abstract:MCM-41 has been synthesized in-situ on silica both using solution silicate and surface silicate as Si sources. The long-range structure of MCM-41 synthesized with solution silicate as Si source is better than that of MCM-41 with surface silicate as Si source, while either is as stable as to preserve the long-range ordered structure during calcination. For the MCM-41 sample synthesized with surface silicate as Si source, the pore diameters are narrowly distributed with approximately 3.81nm in the maximum distribution.
