Abstract:To overcome the shortcoming of traditional Raman spectral decomposition method that requires a priori information of pure spectra, a new Raman spectral decomposition algorithm based on multivariate curve resolution and Lorentz function constraint was proposed. This method was based on the bilinear model for mixture spectra, and only the mixture spectral matrix was needed to perform the analysis. It first decomposes the mixture spectra with principal component resolution, and then the evolving factor analysis was performed to find the distribution of the mixture spectral eigenvalues evolves along with the pixel direction, so that it could determine the number of components in the mixture, the range of their peaks and the initial estimation 14 their spectra. Finally an alternative least squares method with Lorentz function constraint was proposed to optimize the pure spectra, during the process, it first fits the pure spectra with Lorentz function, and then based on the fitted spectra, it regresses the spectra and the coefficient matrix with non-negative alternative least squares method. The above optimization process was repeatedly performed until the fit error for the mixture spectra was within the threshold. In the experimental part, the proposed algorithm was adopted to decompose the Raman spectra of the circulating fluid in an adsorption tower of a p-xylene unit, with which the relative pure spectra was obtained in the mixture fluid. Finally, with the repeated quantitative analysis experiments for its main component of p-xylene, we prove the effectiveness for the proposed algorithm.

Abstract:Curve fitting must be considerably facilitated if reliable and accurate initial estimates of the number of peaks, individual peak positions, areas, and widths are known at the outset. The most important values for input to curve fitting route are the number of peaks and their positions. One of the main drawbacks involved is that as the bands become more overlapped, or the number of overlapped bands increases, the problem becomes progressively more ill-conditioned. As a consequence, small errors in the data, or errors in the estimates can be magnified, ultimately resulting in large errors in the final model. In addition, very high noise level of the analytical signal also has significant effect on the fitted results. In this work, curve fitting using wavelet transform for peak finding and an enhancement of signal-to-noise ratio was proposed, in which wavelet transform was performed prior to curve fitting to enhance noise level for subsequent fitting and to determine the number of peaks and corresponding parameters. Accordingly, the fitted conditions can be improved to the point that very accurate results could be acquired even for the simulated overlapped bands with higher noise level.

Abstract:In this paper, a new method of calculating the diffraction efficiency for diffraction / refraction infrared hybrid system is given. By using this method, an automatic measurement system is designed. This system covers the wavelength range of 1 similar to 3 mu m, 3 similar to 5 mu m and 8 similar to 12 mu m. We use a blackbody as the energy source, put the lens which is to be measured above a computer controlled turntable in order to gain different results in different filed of view. We also have several relay lenses to cope with long or negative focal length. We use two types of detectors to deal with wavelength range of 1 similar to 3 mu m and 3 similar to 12 mu m. Both the detector and preamplifier are assembled together so we can easily change them for different wavelength ranges. To improve the accuracy of the measurements, a new theory of measuring the main energy is developed to minimize the negative impacts of other diffraction orders and the environment. We use an adjustable slit cooperating with a two-axis stage to scan the focal point and by adjusting the width of the slit we can reduce the energy of other diffraction orders and the environment that may come into our detector. During the experiment process we can manually control the slit and two-axis stage to improve the efficiency and use our computer program to improve the accuracy. The energy modulator and lock-in amplifier also help to improve the accuracy of our system. We designed two standard lenses for the 3 similar to 5 mu m wavelength range. Both of them are made of the same material, have the same focal length of 200mm and their shape is almost the same. The only difference between them is that one of them is pure refraction piece which acts as a reference and the other one has a diffraction surface to achromatic aberration. The result fits our theory well and the possible causes of the differences are discussed. This system has a practical meaning in the quality evaluating of infrared hybrid system.
Transfer of Raman Spectra with Different Resolutions Applying Convolution with Gaussian Function

Abstract:Calibration transfer of Raman spectra was investigated on the basis of instrument response function, which is affected by the resolution of the spectrometer. A simplified procedure is presented allowing the transfer of Raman spectra from higher to lower resolution instruments (or conditions). Needn't to measure a set of well-prepared samples to construct a statistical transfer model, the method employed in preent study, a convolution step involving a Gaussian transfer function, which theoretically describes the instrumental difference from source to target. And with the help of established methods for wavenumber calibration and relative intensity correction, an integrated algorithm for Raman spectra transfer is provided. Two spectral experiments of three analytes were performed for certification: (1) Transfer on a Fourier transform (FT) Raman spectrometer under various resolution conditions; (2) Transfer between two dispersive Raman spectrometers equipped with charge-coupled device (CCD). In almost all cases, the correlation coefficient between the measured spectra and transferred spectra could reach to 0.99. It suggested that this procedure may be applicable for all kinds of Raman spectra transfer and even works universally in other spectroscopy.

Abstract:Automatic discovery and curve fitting of absorption bands in hyperspectral data can enable the analyst to identify materials present in a scene by comparison with library spectra. This procedure is common in laboratory spectra, but is challenging for sparse hyperspectral data. A procedure for robust discovery of overlapping bands in hyperspectral data is described in this paper. The method is capable of automatically discovering and fitting symmetric absorption bands, can separate overlapping absorption bands in a stable manner, and has relatively low sensitivity to noise. A comparison with techniques already available in the literature is presented using simulated spectra. An application is demonstrated utilizing the shortwave infrared (2.0-2.5 micron or 5000-4000 cm-1) region. A small hyperspectral scene is processed to demonstrate the ability of the method to detect small shifts in absorption wavelength caused by varying white mica chemistry in a natural setting.

A Novel Transform for Extracting Dispersion Curve from Multiple Components of Ambient Noise Cross-correlation Function

Abstract:Ambient noise tomography has been a widely used method for imaging the structure of the lithosphere. A key step in this method is extracting the dispersion curve from ambient noise cross-correlation. Based on the single force displacement formula of Generalized Reflection and Transmission method, we obtained the type of Bessel function in different components of the cross-correlation function. Borrowing the idea of the S transformation and replacing the exponential function in which with the corresponding Bessel function to different components of cross-correlation function, we define a new transformation, named SJ transformation, to extract Rayleigh wave dispersion curve from ZZ, ZR, RZ, RR component and Love wave dispersion curve from TT component. Using synthetic test, the extracted dispersion curve fits the theoretical dispersion curve well, which’s error rate < 1%, and in field data test, the extracted dispersion curve of the Rayleigh wave from different component matches each other well. Although the SJ spectrum of ZZ component may be distorted by noise, there may be no influence in other components, which provide the possibility to extract Rayleigh wave dispersion curve with a wider frequency band.

Abstract:Fourier transform infrared spectrometer can carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples. Therefor it is widely used in medicine and chemical industry, geology, mining, petroleum, coal and other fields. Since the characteristic frequency region and fingerprint region of the infrared spectrum play an important role in distinguishing compounds with similar structures, the locating accuracy of spectral peaks directly affects the performance of subsequent sample analysis. In order to realize the peak searching of infrared spectrum, this paper proposes a method based on piece-wise polynomial fitting to fit the spectral data, and designs a peak searching method based on derivation on this basis. Taking the polystyrene infrared wavelength standard material as the sample, the experiment verifies that the spectral fitting and peak searching method proposed in this paper can obtain the required wave number indication error and wave number repeatability, having good performances.

Abstract:An efficient scheme for fractal scaleless band automatic identification is proposed, which is based curve-line-curve fitting piecewise. The G-P correlation integral algorithm and the distribution rule of the correlation integral series for vibration signal are studied. Based on the result, a new and more efficient curve-line-curve piecewise fitting scheme instead of the conventional three-line fitting scheme can help to get the more precise correlation dimension of vibration signal. Applications on some real vibration signals which were tested in different operation conditions or rotate speeds and comparison with the conventional three-line fitting scheme showed this point.

Abstract:On-line Near Infrared (NIR) Spectral analysis is one of the widely used Process Analytical Technology (PAT). The widely used on-line monitoring software WinCC V6.0 can not afford the requirement of NIR on-line analysis of multi-components in TCM,including the functions of overlapping,zooming and peak locating of multiple spectra and the forecasting properties. By registering the control of Kingview super XY curve in WinCC V6.0,we solved this problem. The NIR spectra and prediction values of the component can be displayed to the operators real-timely and intuitively to ensure the stability of the technique.

Abstract:Because of the limitation of hard/software technology as well as the interference of environment around,the test of reflectivity of wave absorbtive material in microwave dark room is affected by the above factors which made the measuring results cannot faithfully reflect the real characteristic of the material tested,so measuring data needs to be processed to obtain more accurate result.A method of filtering the high-frequency noise for the testing curve is presented in this paper.First measuring data is processed with FFT to obtain frequency distribution.Then low-pass filter filters out the interference frequency,Finally IFFT is used to retrieve the processed data.Generally edge detecting is the tough point in the process of smoothing,which is got better dealt with in this paper.

Abstract:Infrared (IR) spectral imaging sensing is a powerful visual technique for industrial material recognition in robot vision systems. However, the imaging sensing data have issues of random noise and band overlap. Resolution enhancement is usually the first step in the preprocessing procedure of industrial robot vision sensing. In this article, we develop a resolution-enhancement algorithm with total variation (TV) constraints for the degraded Fourier transform IR (FTIR) spectrum due to overlap and noise degradation in the robot vision sensing. The kernel function is calculated using the spectrometer imaging systems and Fourier optical theory. The proposed model not only can remove noises effectively but also can estimate the kernel function because of the adaptive TV as constraint regularization. This model is examined by a set of simulated FTIR spectra with the Poisson noises and a series of real FTIR spectra. The proposed model is compared with the other state-of-the-art methods in terms of performance. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can split the overlap band effectively while the spectral structure details are retained satisfactorily. The enhanced high-resolution imaging spectrum data can raise the robot vision sensing accuracy in industrial intelligent systems.

Abstract:A computer program called Multifitting, which was developed to model the optical properties of multilayer films over a wide range of wavelengths, is described here. Its key features are the ability to work simultaneously with an arbitrary number of reflectometric and scatterometric experimental curves, and an ergonomic graphical user interface that is designed for intensive daily use in the characterization of thin films.Multifitting is a computer program that was originally designed to model the reflection and transmission of shortwave radiation by multilayer nanofilms. Three years have passed since the introduction of this software, and in this paper the focus is on describing the possibilities of Multifitting with regard to off‐specular diffuse scattering and grazing‐incidence small‐angle scattering. The approach to the user interface and to working with the structure model remains the same, and the emphasis is on the ergonomics, calculation speed and intensive use of the program for technological and research tasks. However, the scope of the program has been expanded to make it more useful to existing users, and it may also be of interest to a wider audience.

Abstract:This paper presents the graphical program design based on Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) for off-axis cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy (OA-CEAS). The program with friendly user interface has the abilities of instrument controlling, data acquiring, processing, displaying and storing in real time. By using this virtual instrumentation (VI), laser, oscilloscope, wavemeter and data acquisition board can be easily controlled through personal computer (PC), and the absorption spectrum will be recorded and displayed conveniently after graph fitting or filtering. The experimental result proves that the design of multiplex function satisfies the experimental requirements well. All subVIs making up this software can be shared by other similar experimental programs with a little variation. Finally this program is made independent of LabVIEW environment and can be applied separately.

Abstract:We present an open source software package SpectroLab a Matlab-based tool developed in 2018 for the analysis of spectroscopic data. In this package, there are tools for derivative analysis, stacked energy contours, stacked plots for theory, 3D volumetric plots, core level analysis, and derivative analysis. The package can currently be used for angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) data, with the ability to also be used for other spectroscopic data in the future. We apply this program to the HfP2, ZrSiS, and Hf2Te2P systems to demonstrate its robustness.

Abstract:Spectral peak overlapping is a basic problem in analytical data processing of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). Curve fitting is the typical method of resolving overlapped peaks. For preventing ambiguous fitting, appropriate initial values must be known. The aim of this work was to present a method that could be used to determine appropriate initial values of the curve-fitting method by using fractional differential theory. According to the variation of characteristic points of Lorentzian peaks at different fractional differential orders, parameter estimators were obtained that were used to calculate the initial values of the curve-fitting method. As it is a widely used optimization method, the Levenberg-Marquardt method was used in curve fitting. Simulation and LIBS experimental results proved that the proposed method of the initial value estimation can effectively resolve the overlapped peaks in LIBS data processing.

Abstract:FTIR is a great improvement in IR spectroscopy, and two-dimensional infrared (2D IR) correlation spectroscopy well advances its capabilities. But for complicated mixture systems, such as traditional Chinese medicines, the spectra are rather similar and these methods fall short. To improve the resolution of 2D IR spectrum, and make it possible to distinguish complicated mixture systems, the application of wavelet transform to 2D IR was explored in this paper. After performing decomposition, processing, and reconstruction of the set of dynamic spectra, the resolution of the synchronous 2D IR correlation spectrum was improved obviously. More peaks appeared and the peaks became quite clear and separate. Four Coptis samples of aged 1-4 could be distinguished with this approach. Using wavelet transform, 2D IR would become more powerful in analysis and discrimination.

Abstract:The Full Width at Half Maximum(FWHM)of the power spectrum curve is one of the most important parameters of the resonance method for measuring the loss of optical resonant cavity.But in the measured voltage curve,there are such problems as serious noise,big ripple,and serious waveform distortion.In this paper,frequency-sweeping laser was adopted as the incident light source,and the Labview software was used to process fitting analysis on the experimental data.The measurement noise is eliminated effectively and the FWHM of the voltage curve after experiments possesses good repeatability,which can be transformed into the FWHM of the power spectrum curve by a certain mathematical algorithm so that the loss of the tested cavity can be calculated.The measurement accuracy is enhanced without increasing hardware cost.

Abstract:Curvelet transform is a new multi-scale transform developed upon wavelet transform. Beside scale and position, its constructive factors still include directions. All these make curvelet transform have a better directional characteristic. Based on these properties, we transform seismic data into curvelet domain, apply a window-shrinking algorithm to attenuate the random noises and improve the quality of seismic data finally. Both model and real data all obtain good results. It is available and necessary to set shrinking window size as 3*3 or 5*5 and the value of σ as 6–7% of maximum amplitude in seismic data denoising.
