Abstract:Semiconducting (Sr, Pb) TiO3 ceramics with a typical PTC effect like BaTiO3 has been made by chemical processing. The PTCR jumps as great as 100.33 and the room temperature resistivity is lower than 102 ��cm. Meanwhile, the withstand voltage strength is about 330 Vac/mm and sintering temperature is lower than 1100��C

Abstract:A typical positive temperature coefficient of resistance (PTCR) effect in yttrium-doped (Sr, Pb)TiO 3 ceramics made by chemical processing was obtained for the first time. The results show that the room temperature resistivity is lower than 10 2 Ω cm and the resistivity jump is above 10 6 . The breakdown voltage is above 340 V mm −1 (a.c.). The sintering temperature is about 1100°C, lower than for conventional BaTiO 3 ceramics.

Abstract:(Sr1-xPbx) TiO3 powders with different Pb/Sr ratios (x=0.40, 0.45, 0.50, 0.55, 0.60) were prepared by chemical coprecipitation process. The (Sr, Pb) TiO3 ceramics were successfully made to semiconductors exhibiting a typical PTCR characteristics. The samples show a wide range of resistivities (from over 107��cm to less than 20��cm) and lower room-temperature resistivity (-10��cm). The properties of PTCR ceramics with various amounts of yttrium dopants and SiO2 aids were studied. The relationship of the ferroelectric Curie temperature, the lattice constant and Pb/Sr ratio were discussed.

Abstract:The preparation and properties of (Sr, Pb)TiO3 PTCR ceramics were reported. (Sr, Pb)TiO3 PTCR ceramic powders were prepared by chemical co-precipitation method. The typical PTC (positive temperature coefficient) properties of (Sr, Pb)TiO PTCR ceramics were obtained at first time. The results show that the Sr, Pb)TiO3 PTCR ceramics may replace traditional PTC materials and may become a new thermistor.

Abstract:(Sr,Pb) TiO3 PTCR ceramics materials with low resistivity have been successfully prepared by using chemical deposition method. The experimental results show that the resistivity of ceramic materials is lower than 20 ��cm at room temperature. The ratio of raising resistance is higher than 105.5. The (Sr,Pb) TiO3 PTCR ceramic materials have good PTC characters.

Abstract:Y-doped Sr0.5Pb0.5TiO3 semiconducting ceramics were fabricated by adding excess PbO and controlling the sintering conditions. Their room temperature resistivity (ρRT) is 101 Ω cm and there is a jump of about five orders of magnitude in resistivity, showing the positive temperature coefficient of resistance (PTCR) effect. Adding Ag+ increases both the ρRT and the PTCR effect. Ag metal particles were observed to segregate in the 1.0 mol% Ag+-doped composition. The influences of excess PbO and Ag+ on the electrical properties of (Sr, Pb)TiO3-based semiconducting ceramics were discussed.

Abstract:The thermal sensitivities of SrTiO3-based ferroelectric ceramics and the dielectric properties have been investigated. Strontium–lead titanate ceramics with variable NTCR–PTCR composite effect were prepared by controlling Pb concentration of the grain boundaries. It was efficient for lowering the room temperature resistivity (ρRT) and weakening the negative temperature coefficient of resistance (NTCR) effect of (Sr, Pb)TiO3 ceramics by adding a small amount of excess PbO. A transformation of thermal sensitivity from the positive temperature coefficient of resistance (PTCR) to NTCR–PTCR characteristics was also observed after a heating treatment process, showing the NTCR–PTCR composite effects of (Sr, Pb)TiO3 semiconducting ceramics were closely related to the variation of Pb concentration at the grain boundaries. The conduction mechanism was proposed to reasonably explain the NTCR–PTCR composite effect of (Sr, Pb)TiO3 semiconducting ceramics. SrTiO3 ceramics capacitors were fabricated by using La2O3–CuO–PbO as dopants. It exhibited a high dielectric constant with stable temperature characteristics. It was found that PbO addition benefited to increasing the dielectric constant and CuO addition mainly segregated at the grain boundaries to form the isolation layers. The relationships between the microstructures and the dielectric properties of SrTiO3–La2O3–CuO–PbO system were discussed.

Abstract:We have succeeded, for the first time, in preparing porous single phase PbTiO3 ceramic exhibiting a positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) by sintering a precalcined PbO-TiO2 with lead acetate as a foaming agent at 1050° C in air with a lead compensating atmosphere for 3 h, and slow cooling. There is a 2.1 order of magnitude rise in resistivity at the Curie temperature of 490°C.

Abstract:Yttrium-doped (Sr0.45Pb0.55)TiO3 ceramics were prepared by liquid chemical method and the conduction mechanism was studied by the complex impedance analysis. The materials exhibited a significantly large negative temperature coefficient of resistivity below Te in addition to the ordinary PTC characteristics above Tc. The minimum resistivity was at the magnitude of 10(2)Omega.cm and the negative temperature coefficient of resistivity was better than -3%degrees C-1. Complex impedance analysis indicated that the strong NTC effect was not originated from the deep energy level of donor (bulk behavior), but from the electrical behavior of the grain boundary. Furthermore, the NTC behavior in the materials was depended on the composition and microstructure of the grain boundary. The NTC-PTC ceramics was a grain boundary controlled materials.

Abstract:The influence of chemical inhomogeneity, separate phase structure and grain boundary composition on the negative temperature coefficient (NTC) effect in (Sr, Pb) TiO3 based PTC ceramics were investigated by the use of liquid chemical method. The results show that among all the factors, the grain boundary composition of the materials plays the dominant role in controlling NTC effect. A NTC-PTC composite thermistor with high performance was obtained by surface modification coating method, of which the minimum resistivity is at the magnitude of 102Ω·cm and the negative temperature coefficient of resistivity is better than -3.5×10-2 °C-1.

Abstract:The electrical characteristics of positive temperature coefficient resistance (PTCR effects) mainly come from the grain boundary. The useful way to enhance electrical characteristics of PTC ceramics is to decrease the grain size and add the number of grain boundary. In the paper, the grain size and PTCR effects of ceramics were investigated on the effects of the molar ratio of donor and acceptor, the sintering process and high-energy ball milling. The formulation of prepared ceramics were Ba"0"."8Sr"0"."2Ti"1"."0"1O"3+0.03mol% Mn(NO"3)"2+x mol Y"2O"3+2wt% SiO"2. The grain size of these PTC ceramics was decreased to only [email protected] by adding Sr^2^+ and Y^3^+ to substitute the A-site barium ions, which were calcined at 1220^oC and sintered at 1300^oC after high-energy ball milling for powders. The prepared ceramics exhibited room temperature resistivity of [email protected], resistance rising rate more than 10^4unit through the Curie temperature, and relative density between 75% and 90%.

Abstract:Strontium-lead titanate semiconducting ceramics with low room temperature resistivity (ρ RT ) and variable NTCR-PTCR composite effects were fabricated at different sintering conditions. Both ρ RT and the NTCR effect decreased at the higher heating rate or doping excess of PbO. After the heat-treatment at 950°C, the transformations from PTCR to NTCR-PTCR characteristics were observed in excess PbO-doped samples. According to the results, it is assumed that the lead vacancies (V Pb ″) in the grain boundary layers degenerate the conductivity of strontium-lead titanate semiconducting ceramics and the NTCR behaviors below the Curie temperature are ascribed to the electron detrapping of acceptor defects with increasing temperature.

Abstract:Semiconductive behaviours of (Sr, Pb)TiO3 PTCR ceramics with various amounts of yttrium dopants and SiO2 additives were studied. The results show that the additive amounts of Y and SiO2 have an obvious effect on the semiconductive properties of materials. The suitable amounts of Y and SiO2 additives are 0.1%-0.6% (mol) and 0.2%-0.5% (mol), respectively. The lowest resistivity can reach 10��cm. Through complex impedance analysis, it was found that the electrical properties of the materials are controlled by the grain boundary behaviour and the grain boundary characteristics dependent on the additions of Y and SiO2.

Abstract:Thermal sensitive characteristics of the Nd-doped (Sr,Pb)TiO ceramics were prepared and studied by solid reaction process. Experimental results show that it has good NTC-PTC composite thermal sensitive properties. The main parameters are: Tc=123 °C, PRT=150 Ωcm, Pmin=15.44 Ωcm. The NTC drop ratio is 101.0 and PTC jump ratio is 104.26. The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) indicate that the Nd-doped (Sr, Pb)TiO3 ceramics presents the ABO3 structure of perovskite type. The part of the Nd3+ substitutes for host ions on A sites, and the rest of Nd2O3 resides in the sample. The research of SEM indicates that the heterogeneity of grain size is the typical microstructure of the materials.

Abstract:A kind of V-shaped thermistor based on Sr0.4Pb0.6TiO3 materials was fabricated by solid state reaction methods. The samples exhibit novel NTCR effect below the Curie temperature (T-c) and typical PTCR effect above T-c, the room- temperature resistivities and the values of log(rho(25degreesC)/rho(min)) increase with elevating soaking temperature. The phase structure, microstructure and compositional distribution of samples were investigated by using XRD, SEM and EDS respectively. The results show that Sr, Ti concentrations near the grian boundaries are higher than that in the grains. It is estimated that the NTCR effects of (Sr,Pb)TiO3 ceramics are closely related to the Pb2+ ionic vacancies near the grain boundaries. The semiconductive mechanism of Y3+-doped (Sr,Pb)TiO3 ceramics was also discussed.

Abstract:Barium vacancy existing in grain boundary is responsible for the PTCR effect observed in donor doped barium titanate ceramics. Over 8 orders of magnitude of PTCR effect were observed in Bi2O3 vapor doped samples. In Bi2O3 vapor doping procedure, high concentration of barium vacancy can be produced under high oxygen partial pressure during sintering, so the sample obtained has higher PTCR effect.

Abstract:A kind of semiconductive ceramics based on SrxPb1-xTiO3 was prepared by traditional ceramics route,which exhibited distinct NTC effect below curie temperature and classical PTC effect above curie temperature.The morphology of ceramics were observed using SEM and the resistivity was measured from room temperature up to 400℃.At the same time,the impedance spectoscopy was also used to analyze the resistance evolution of grain boundary.The results showed that the precipitating of SiO2 on the grain boundary can increase the resistivity and improve the NTC effect,but it is not the fundamental cause of NTC effect.It is estimated that the volatilization of Pb and the different concentration of Pb2+ from grain to grain-boundary are the radical elements resulting in the obvious NTC effect of SrxPb1-xTiO3 ceramics below curie temperature.The semiconducting mechanism of SrxPb1-x TiO3 ceramics is also discussed.

Abstract:Media-low temperature sintering technique is widely used for the fabrication of BaTiO3 based ceramics. The sintering temperature of BaTiO3-based ceramics will be decreased greatly through the doping of B2O3 vapor. Doping with B2O3 vapor results in the sample with low room temperature resistivity and high resistance jump relatively. It is revealed that boron interstitial can exist in the grain lattice of BaTiO3. The boron interstitial or/and its complex can form electron capture center and enhance the PTCR effect of the sample.

Abstract:The properties and conduction mechanism of Yttrium-doped (Sr0.45Pb0.55)TiO3 ceramics thermistor materials were investigated. The materials prepared by the wet chemical method exhibited the significant NTC characteristics below T-c besides the ordinary PTC properties above T-c. The negative temperature coefficient of resistivity is better than -3%/degreesC and the minimum resistivity is at the magnitude of 100 Omega .cm. The conduction mechanism was studied by the complex impedance analysis and microstructure analysis. The results showed that NTC behavior in the materials was originated from the grain boundary and closely related to the composition and microstructure of the grain boundary phase.

Abstract:SrLi1/4Nb3/4O3-doped PbxSr1-xTiO3 semiconducting ceramics (x=0.5, 0.6)were fabricated at relatively low sintering temperature. The ceramics exhibit NTCR-PTCR composite behaviors with high temperature coefficients. Sample's room temperature resistivity, NTCR effect and positive temperature coefficients decrease with doping excess PbO. The morphology, domain structure and compositional distribution were investigated using SEM, TEM and EDAX respectively, showing that the grains have 90degrees domain structures and Pb2+ Concentration of grain boundary layer is slightly lower than that of grain interior. According to the results, it is estimated that the NTCR effect of PbxSr1-xTiO3 ceramics should be closely related to cationic vacancies resulted from Pb volatilization.
