Abstract:Aromatic aldehydes are very important organic intermediates,which are widely used in pharmaceuticals,pesticides and other areas.In this paper,an improved synthetic method of aromatic aldehydes containing electrowithdrawing groups in ortho or para(or both) position of the aromatic ring was introduced.4-choloro-2-nitrotoluene,4-nitrotoluene and 4-cyanotoluene were used as raw materials,respectively,via enamination with N,N-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal(DMFDMA) in the present of N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) as solvent and under reflux,the corresponding styrylamine compounds were produced;then the intermediates were further oxidized by H2O2 under different reaction conditions.The effects of solvent species,reaction temperature and the used amount of H2O2 on the product yield were studied,and the optimal reaction conditions were determined.Under those optimal conditions,the best yields of different aldehydes are 75.6%(4-chloro-2-nitrobenzaldehyde),58.3%(4-nitrobenzaldehyde) and 68.2%(4-cyanobenzaldehyde),respectively with the advantages of simple process,low cost and being environment-friendly..The main intermediates and objective products were confirmed by HPLC and 1H-NMR.

Abstract:The process of preparing 4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenylacetonitrile,as one of the important intermediates for synthesis was studied.Beginning from the raw material—vanillin,the title compound was prepared,via protection of hydroxyl,reduction,chloridization and nitrilation.The influences of various reaction conditions on the yield were investigated,and the optimal reaction conditions(reagent,temperature,time and yield) were as follows:acetic anhydride as acetylation reagent,reacting at room temperature for 3 h and yield was 99%;Raney Ni as catalyst,reaction time was 8 h at room temperature,and yield was 96.8%;dropping thionyldichloride at 0℃,then reacting at room temperature for 2 h,and the yield was 78%;refluxing with sodium cyanide for 9 h,and the yield was 78.5%.The products were characterized with MS,1H NMR and elemental analysis.The results showed that the process proposed overcame the defects of traditional synthesis route.

Abstract:The synthesis technology of N-ethylethylenediamine was developed,in which ethylenediamine and chloroethane were the raw materials,methanol was the solvent,and sodium methoxide was the acid binding agent.The ethylenediamine and methanol were reused and N-ethylethylenediamine was separated with the help of batch distillation.Then reaction conditions were optimized and the best conditions were as follows: the molar ratio of ethylenediamine and chloroethane was 1.5∶1,the reaction temperature was 40℃,and the reaction time was 4 h.The yield was 70.7%,and the product was characterized by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.

Abstract:N,N'-Bis(4-nitrophenyl)urea was prepared by reacting p-nitroaniline with urea in the presence of DMF as solvent at refluxing temperature. The prepared product was analyzed by liquid chromatography. The purity of the product was above 98.00% and the yield was 80.30%. The optimal ratio of the reactants was p-nitroaniline: urea: concentrated hydrochloric acid=1.00∶1.00∶1.25, and the optimal reaction time was 5 h for 41.4 g(0.3 mol) p-nitroaniline under reflux temperature(adding the urea in batches within 1.0 h).

Abstract:A novel route for dinitrification of N-phenylbenzenesulfonamide to synthesize N-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)benzenesul- fonamide has been developed. The method features convenient operation and good functional group tolerance. This reaction may go through a nitrogen dioxide radical (NO2 center dot) intermediate, which is generated by the thermal reaction process of sodium nitrate and ammonium persulfate. In addition, it provides direct approach for the preparation of 2,4-dinitroaniline derivatives which are crucial intermediate for the synthesis of benzimidazoles and quinoxaline derivatives.

Abstract:2,4-Dinitroanisole was synthesized with TEBA as phase transfer catalyst(PTC).The effects of the weight ratio of catalyst to 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene,reaction temperature and the rate of adding sodium hydroxide were studied.The catalyticr of TEBA was verified comparing with the result in the absence of the catalyst.After adding TEBA the reaction rate was increased significantly.The suitable synthesis conditions were as follows: reaction temperature of 56 ℃,the weight ratio of catalyst to 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene=1∶100 and the time of adding sodium hydroxide of 30 min.Besides,the structure and composition of the product were characterized by FT IR and HPLC analysis methods.

Abstract:Nano alpha-Fe2O3 was prepared using PEG-400 as dispersant by a simple sol-gel method, as proved by XRD, SEM, TEM and ICP-MS. The alpha-Fe2O3 was demonstrated to be an efficient catalyst for N-benzylation of aliphatic and aromatic amines with benzyl chloride and benzyl bromide in 8% Na2CO3 aqueous solution, achieving ca. 100% conversions and > 82% selectivity to monosubstituted products for aromatic amines and higher selectivity to disubstituted products for aliphatic amines at 50-80 degrees C and reaction time 1-3 h. The catalyst was easily recovered and reused effectively three runs without a significant loss of catalytic activity. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Some synthetic methods of 1-bromo-3,4,5-trimethoxybenzene BTMOB are compared. One can obtain good yield by Sandmeyer reaction after 3,4,5-trimethoxyaniline is diazotized. The optimum reaction conditions are determined: n (ArNH2):n(NaNO2):n(NaBr) = 1.0:1.2:1.5, temperature of diazotization below 5°C and the complex of diazonium salt refluxed for 1 h during decomposition. Yield of BTMOB is about 87.5%.

Abstract:We present a kinetic and theoretical study of electrophilic aromatic substitution (S E Ar) involving 2-(2′,4′,6′-trinitrophenyl)-4,6-dinitrobenzotriazole 1-oxide 1 with a series of 5-R-substituted indoles 2a-e (R = CN, Cl, H, Me and NH 2 ) in acetonitrile at 20 °C. Single electron transfer (SET) mechanism was proposed and confirmed by the agreement between the rate constants (k) and the oxidation potentials (E p ox ) of these series of indoles. Using Mayr's equation, the electrophilicity parameter ( E ) of 1 at C-7 position is derived and compared with the same parameter estimated using empirical equation E versus. pK a . Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations were performed to confirm the suggested reaction mechanisms and elucidate the origin of the electrophilic reactivity of 1 . Notably, a linear correlation (R 2 = 0.9957) between the experimental nucleophilicity ( N ) and the theoretical model of nucleophilicity (ω −1 ) determined in this work of various 5-R-substituted indoles has been obtained and discussed.

Abstract:4,4'-dinitrodiphenyl sulfone was obtained by using 4-chloronitrobenzene,sodium sulfide and concentrated nitric acid as raw materials,tetrabutylammonium bromide as catalyst to conduct substitution reaction and oxidation reaction respectively while related condition of the reactions was optimized and selected as following: the molar ratio of 4-chloronitrobenzene and sodium sulfide was 1.8∶1;the reaction period was 3 hours;and the reaction temperature was 85 ℃.Meanwhile,the period of the oxidation reaction was 6 hours,and the oxidation reaction temperature was 100 ℃,the total yield of 4,4'-dinitrodiphenyl sulfone was 71.2% as well as its purity was 98.9%.The structures of the intermediate and the aimed compound were confirmed by IR and HNMR.The procedure was characterized by cheap and available raw materials,being operated easily,low cost and high yield,so it was positively available to be industrialized.
Mechanisms and Origins of Chemo- and Regioselectivities of Ru(II)-Catalyzed Decarboxylative C-H Alkenylation of Aryl Carboxylic Acids with Alkynes: A Computational Study.

Abstract:The mechanisms and chemo- and regioselectivities of Ru(II)-catalyzed decarboxylative C-H alkenylation of aryl carboxylic acids with alkynes were investigated with density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The catalytic cycle involves sequential carboxylate-directed C-H activation, alkyne insertion, decarboxylation and protonation. The facile tether-assisted decarboxylation step directs the intermediate toward the desired decarboxylative alkenylation, instead of typical annulation and double alkenylation pathways. The decarboxylation barrier is very sensitive to the tether length, and only the seven-membered ring intermediate can selectively undergo the designed decarboxylation, suggesting a tether-dependent chemoselectivity. This tether-dependent chemoselectivity also applies to the alkyl tethers. In addition, the polarity of solvent is found to control the chemoselectivity between the decarboxylative alkenylation and [4 + 2] annulation. Solvent with low polarity (toluene) favors the decarboxylation pathway, leading to the decarboxylative alkenylation. Solvent with high polarity (methanol) favors the ionic stepwise C-O reductive elimination pathway, leading to the [4 + 2] annulation. To understand the origins of regioselectivity with asymmetric alkynes, the distortion/interaction analysis was applied to the alkyne insertion transition states, and led to a predictive frontier molecular orbital model. The asymmetric alkynes selectively use the terminal with the larger HOMO orbital coefficient to form the C-C bond in the insertion step.

Abstract:Using Pt/C as a catalyst, the hydrogenation and Bamberger rearrangement of o-nitrotoluene was carried out in a solution consisting of methanol, sulfuric acid and acetic acid, to afford 2-methyl-4-methoxyaniline. The intermediate product was further reacted with cyclohexanone in the presence of Pd/C in phenol to form N-phenyl-2-methyl-4-methoxyaniline. The total yield is 63%. The product as well as intermediate was determined by H-1 NMR and MS spectra. The factors of affecting the reactions were also discussed.

Abstract:The thermodynamic properties of organic solvent extraction for 2-chloro-4,6-dinitro-resorcinol from aqueous phase were investigated by extraction balance test methods.Taking ethyl acetate as the extractant and different organic solvent such as benzene,toluene,cyclohexane and n-heptane as the diluent,extraction for 2-chloro-4,6-dinitro-resorcinol from aqueous phase was analyzed.The results show that structure of extract is dependent on the diluent kind.The distribution coefficient of 2-chloro-4,6-dinitro-resorcinol in the organic phase increases with the dielectric constant of the diluent.By studying the effect of temperature on extraction,it is confirmed that the extraction of 2-chloro-4,6-dinitro-resorcinol belongs to exothermal reaction process and the apparent thermal effect ΔH is equal to-10.088 kJ/mol.

Abstract:DFT studies has been used to characterize MC intermediate in the reaction of aniline with substituted dinitrobenzenes. The observation and stability of the intermediate and consequently, either a concerted or multistep reaction mechanism is believed to be dependent on the position of the ring activating substituent relative to the leaving group. The rate determining step is dependent on the leaving group, solvent and nature and position of the substituents on the ring Computational studies to determine the rate constants and thermodynamic properties of the nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions of 4‐R‐1‐chloro‐2,6‐dinitrobenzenes 1, 6‐R‐1‐chloro‐2,4‐dinitrobenzenes 2 and some of the corresponding 1‐phenoxy derivatives 3 and 4 with aniline in the gas phase, acetonitrile and toluene is reported at the M06‐2x/6‐31g+(d,p) level of theory; R=H, NO2, CF3, CN and ring N. Formation of the Meisenheimer complex intermediate was observed in all cases and its stability was dependent on the number of electron‐withdrawing groups present on the ring and their relative position. The overall reaction was found to be exothermic and exergonic in all cases. From kinetics calculations, the initial attack of the aniline nucleophile on the dinitrobenzene to form the intermediate is rate limiting with the chloride ion as the leaving group in acetonitrile and decomposition of the MC was rate limiting in vacuum and toluene. With the phenoxide ion as the leaving group, the decomposition of the MC intermediate is rate limiting in all cases. The observation of MC and thermodynamic data obtained are suggestive of the prevalence of a multistep SNAr mechanism and ring activation by electron withdrawing group increased the rate of reaction.

Abstract:The MeOTf/KI-catalyzed synthesis of 2-arylnaphthalene derivatives from aryl ethylene oxides in alcohol under ambient conditions is described. The present protocol has a higher atom efficiency and wider substrate applicability with excellent yields. The reaction proceeded using the aryl ethylene oxides to give 2-arylnaphthalenes either in homo-coupling or in cross-coupling. The reaction could also be carried out at the gram scale in minutes.

Abstract:The kinetic distribution method was used to study the kinetics of the first nitration stage in the system HNO 3 -H 2 SO 4 (63.8 wt %) and to determine the partition gas/solution coefficients for benzene at 15-85 o C and toluene, o-, m-, and p-xylenes, mesitylene, and pseudocumene at 15-55 o C. The reaction was confirmed to be controlled by electron transfer. It was established that the enthalpy of activation varied with the ionization potential difference of arene and benzene I ArH -I PhH , whereas the entropy of activation (18.5±2.11 mol -1 K -1 ) was nearly independent of the substrate origin
